- After having really bad eyesight for so many years (close to -9 prescription in both eyes), I finally had the option to get PRK surgery. In this video I show you and talk about everything leading up to the surgery, how the surgery went, and what recovery afterwards looked like for me.

It takes time to adjust but once you get used to it it's as if you never wore glasses in your life.. that's what happened to me it's been 3 years now and honestly I completely forgotten that I wore glasses for the majority of my life. It's the best decision I've taken wallah ❤️
Pkr or lasik
Having PRK in a couple weeks, this time as a touch-up to LASIK (which I had three months ago). I'm taking 11 days off, fingers crossed that'll be a good initial recovery time). Day 3 sounds like it sucks the most from what I've read, so gearing up for that. Appreciate you taking the time to record yourself and sharing your perspective!
You’re hilarious! I busted out laughing at the “Ma girl Steve” part, haha haha. I had PRK as well about a year ago (Feb 2019) and it was seriously the best thing I’ve ever done! So freeing!!
I’m day 2 right now and struggling but thank you for posting, my experience is normal. I was listening to you in pain and you said being upright helped, so I sat up and realised my pain was instantly better
I just got a prompt on this that someone liked it. It’s now 10 days later. This lasted exactly 1 day. My vision is perfect now and this went away the very next morning. Absolutely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Some blurriness for about a week hit the last 2 days my vision has been perfect and stable. Couldn’t be happier and was worth 1 day of discomfort
Thank you for the video! Super informative! I hope your eyes have continued to improve! I am scheduled for prk in 2 weeks 🤞🏾🤞🏾
todays date is 04/16/2023 and my husband has just had PRK.....the first part of your video .............wow.....yes I could tell my hubby was going through the same. It is day 2/3 day....he had his done Friday/14th............and he is 74 yrs old. things are not good but with you posting this makes me feel as if he can do this. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO VIDEO YOUR PROGRESS. I wish I could hug you right now. blessings from Kansas.
Helloo, can you update us about him?
Yayy maSha'Allah! I've found the results take a while to get used to if you've had glasses for a long time. I got Lasik in February and sometimes I still wake up and reach for glasses on my bedside table. 😅 Alhamdulillah for these procedures though.
How is your eyes
Beautifully explained video, and you're naturally funny, you have great sense of humor. I had PRK done, and went bad after a year, and I just got another prk done 5 days ago, still can't see anything with that eye. Hope it gets better fast. And you're right about taking 2 weeks off work.
Hi any update?
How is your vision now please
May I ask how did it get bad after a year?
So happy this worked out fine 💙
I love the way your recount your stories
I never knew this was an option, I'm tired of rushing to put contacts in before a movie or going to class. I might look into it❣️ Thanks for sharing
Great video! The best one I’ve seen so far. I just had the procedure 1 week ago. 😊
I got LASIK last year in April, and the doctor asked me to basically sleep for two days straight for the recovery process, also, didn't have that additional lens removal process. Other than that, my experiences were the exact same as yours, Tazzy! I definitely agree with you about taking full 2 weeks off to recover, in fact, as my semester wouldn't start until a month from when I got the surgery, they asked me to put as less strain on the eyes as possible, so the entire month I was just sleeping with sunglasses.
This was such a helpful video! I had PRK on Friday and I knew exactly what to expect. In a hilarious way! Thank you so much!

You had literally nearly the exact same experience as me. I’m on day 6 right now and I’m so happy I came across this!
When did you see clearly? And that blurry vision has disappeared? Because today is the 7th day after the surgery for me 16:29

Awesome Tazzy. Helped.
Very helpful video, thank you!😀
I am -7 & -6.75 in the other eye. And I am miserable most days with contacts and glasses. My eyesight changed for the worst when I got pregnant with my son so my eye dr told me to wait until after I was done having children. SubhanAllah people take their perfect vision for granted. I’d do anything for a perfect eyesight.

Thank you so much for this video.

Congrats and I Love you💜💜💜
Thank you for taking us through your procedure.. I was always wondering about this but was told when just Lasik was out that I probably wouldn't be eligible since I had astigmatism. But now this has me thinking it could be a possibility. Just wondering when you were in alot of pain did they give you pain medicine? If so why didn't it work? Alhamdulilah you are better and are seeing well without your glasses.
i had astigmatism. they do give a last resort medicine but it could slow the healing process so it's better to just ride out the pain. alhamdulilah.
thanks for sharing. im getting prk in 2 weeks. this video is very helpful. thanks again.
How was your expérience please
@@souleymeneabbadi3891 Surgery itself was uncomplicated and easy. Recovery was ok. Very sensitive to light and uncomfortable but you have many eye drops to help. My sight is perfect. No issues with vision both day and night time. Only issue i have is morning dryness. I keep eye drops bedside whenever i wake up. I open my eye slowly and instill the drops. Sometimes, i open too quickly and it burns. I am completely pleased with the results. Certainly positive lifestyle change. I do recommend the procedure.

Great story! I just got my PRK exactly 13 days ago today and it's deffinately a struggle. I can barely read a computer screen with everything augmented and pages etc are impossible. I actually had to buy a magnifying glass to get by at work so I'm looking like Sherlock Holmes right now haha.
I'm expecting it to get better as it was better days 3-5, but when they took they contact off it suddenly started to go bad again. I mostly have double vision, specially with my right eye, and I am Deffinately healing faster with my left eye.
Thanks so much for sharing, you give me hope that it will get better with patience. I guess I have to play the long game
Great video!!
I had prk 12 days a go and im experiencing same stuff how is it now? Hope you doing good by noow
@@mohammedriaj8281 well, it's been over two months since my surgery and I have to say that it's been a struggle. Up until 2 months after I still couldn't see well enough to drive.
Now my main issue is close distance sight and dry eyes. I went for a check up and they said it's normal and that I just have to be patient.
So just relax, trust your body and don't despair. It can be hard and slow but it's worth it!

@DannyINTEL Well, still not 100% after almost one year. I see a lot better and can function well in my daily affairs, but I see worse than when I used glasses or contacts. Some days, it seems like my eyes take time to "wake up," and I have to reset them using drops since they are extra dry.
On clear days, it's like a high-resolution photograph.
I think they left me some nearsightedness on one eye to compensate my presbiscia

Hi!
Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s been so helpful now that I’m recovering. I do have a question. Did it happened to you, that one eye was totally perfect and the other wasn’t? After two weeks, my right eye is crystal clear but my left eye, even though it’s much better than before, is still blurry. Of course I will consult with my doctor, but I just wanted to ask if this is something that happened to you? Thank you in advance!
hello im on day 8 right now and my right eye is way more clear then my left was wondering if this still the case for you any updates?
WHOA!!! LASER EYE SURGERY? May all go well
Do you know which laser was used for your PRK procedure? And which type of laser profile they used? No night vision issues?
MashaAllah!
Thank you for sharing about Your eye surgery . Maybe if I can do the same and not have to wear glasses anymore. I have had a very thick prescription since I was a small child and have always been too afraid to do any sort of surgery.🤓 However jazak Allah for sharing About your eye surgery maybe I can have enough courage inshaAllah to do that aswell. ♡♡

I’m about to get it. How’s your eye sight a year later ??
Thank you for sharing!!
I'm one month post PRK and I still can't see 💯, I noticed you cut off the footage at 2 month, can you update how your vision was at 2 months? I'm glad you were 20/20 at 5 months but it feels sooo long to wait that long...(not that I have choice either way lol)
Had lasik done in 2007 in Australia Melbourne,st kilda Rd,I was left with.75 astigmatism in both eyes, they told me lie after lie, brushed me off,I kept going back for 15 years trying to get enhancement, finally guy olorenshaw agreed for enhancement, got prk done 2nd time around and still not good vision, very disappointed with how they lied to me,brushed me off!!!!!!
I'm really surprised they did lasek on a prescription that high. Here in the UK most places wouldn't... My sister had ICL because her prescription was - 7 and - 8. Even though another place offered her lasek (and was very sales based) she ended up going with the safest option.
it was really only because I had a thicker than average cornea, otherwise it probably wouldn't have been an option for me.
@@TazzyPhewhat was your prescription?
Hey please tell me u feel dipressed when u have eye glasses 😐😐😐 I have _6 and -7😥 please
How long did it took to recover
How many days u should wait to use smartphone after prk
did you have any urge to blink during the surgery? bc usually we all wanna blink if something is going in or near our eye
you can't blink because the put clamps to keep your eye open
How many Time is take to be at 20/20?
What if your eyes's prescription actually improves naturally? It does happen sometimes. So can you 'reverse' the surgery to any degree later down the line?
No you can't. You can only reverse ICL as they insert a small lense in to the eye so it can be removed if need be too. Lasik and lasek are not reversible
POPSHAN1 it is not reversible. However, depending on how much cornea you have remaining and how much refractive error change has occurred the procedure may be able to be done a second time for enhancement.
Day 4 after my PRK surgery and I went to have them test out my vision and they said I already have 20/20 and how it’s only going to get better especially since I have it so soon! Eyes still a little blurry but it’s Still isn’t fully healed so that makes sense

What was your vision? I want to get this but scared

Alhamdulilah you went thru it and have no issues. Do you have eye floaters and are they any worse or better?
no eye floaters, sometimes halos in the night if my eyes are too dry
@@TazzyPhe hi now u feeling dry eye or not after 4 yrs any issue u face
I am -7 on both eyes and 23 years old. So it's pretty bad for me. I have been told that you can't do the surgery until your eyes stop changing and they are stabilized. Did you wait until your eyes were stable as well? Meaning your vision stopped getting worse over the years?
yes, you have to have a stable prescription. shouldn't change too much between years. I mostly waiting so long because I didn't even know that my surgery was an option and to save money for it.

So guess what I did? I went to the store and got my frames made with non-prescriptive lenses instead 😅 So now I could still wear them. It’s not completely useless though, because they are still light-responsive, so it definitely helps with my light sensitivity.
@@Yourfavebrownie that's what I am thinking about! 😁
-9 is crazy. My aunt's -8 and I think my great uncle was about -20.
I've been blessed with 'only' 3, but its a pain in the butt as it's -3.00 in one eye and +3.50 in the other... am also thinking of making my glasses prescription lens free as I will miss the frame style if it turns out I am a PRK candidate (I find out tomorrow. Lasik I went Sept 2019, ago, told me to wait 18 months, went back in in Feb 2021 they said no to LASIK due to dry eye and suspected possible keratoconus. ICL implants weren't an option either due to my anterior chamber being too shallow. They didn't say anything about PRK so got another opinion in December. Am having my scans re done tomorrow to see if anythings changed and if I'm eligible. Even if I am eligible I'd be excited but also quite nervous which is understandable.

I had a very similar experience (still have my bandage in). My pain was up to a 6 at the highest and the worst of it was one day after the surgery.
I took no days off from work - and I would agree, this isn't a good idea...
How are you now ?
I'm concerned about two things
Firstly... the permanent dry eyes
Secondly.. permanent light sensitivity/ glare problem..
Please share your experience about these
Also your myopia power...
Thank you ❤️
@@Bharat286 Sure I am happy to share more about my experience. My eyes were about -20/400 or -3.75 prescription. They are now 20/20. The pain/discomfort subsided about 36 hours after the PRK procedure.
The dry eyes is not permanent. Now that a month has just passed my eyes can get for very long periods of time without eye drops. When the eye gets dry things get slightly blurry - but drops fixes it instantly. The doc recommended every two hours or whenever it feels dry. Over time, this dryness will go away and every day I feel it getting better. I will say after the procedure, seriously use the drops as often as possible - you will be doing yourself a favor.
Light sensitivity was very intense for about 3 weeks after the procedure. Now it is mostly better and almost back to normal. At night super bright headlights can still seem oddly intense, I have almost no starburst at this stage, and halos only persists on very bright objects. The doc says this will go away over the course of 6 months. At this stage, it's totally tolerable and really not something to worry about especially if you are getting PRK and do have any halos or starbursts with your eyes currently.
All in all, I am very happy with the outcome of my procedure and am excited to have 20/20 vision for the first time ever! I will say, PRK seriously does require patience. It took almost 3 weeks for my vision to recover enough to safely drive a car and working during week 2 and 3 (on a computer) was in fact very challenging (doable for half days if you must). At the week 2 mark I kept getting dry eyes in the middle of the night which was annoying as the low level creeping pain would wake me up - one might the pain was like a 9 of 10 - but this only lasted a few minutes - again USE THE EYE DROPS - if you use the artificial tears as often as you should for the first few weeks after surgery then you likely will not experience this issue. At the end of the day, this was 100% worth it. Nope, I would not want to do this twice - but for doing it just once, I am totally glad I did it.
Let me know if you have other questions and if you find this helpful - I hope you go for the procedure!
How much you pay and price is different between -5.0 and -10 ???

@@Jayzers362 WOW i would go see a different Doctor numbing drops will help greatly, also everyone is different dealing with pain so it might not bother you. when are you going in?
@@tomsauto20 no doctor anywhere around here will give them out. I have been to alot and alot of cornea specials as well. I've also talked to alot of people from other states that deal with what I have, and the doctors don't give the numbing drops out at all. They say its to dangerous to give because people will over use it and it could cause damage to your eye. I wish I could find a doctor that would prescribe it, at least for after the surgery to get me through the worst of the pain. Hopefully Tylenol and motrin will help enough to get through it. And I'm not great with pain so I'm expecting its going to be rough.
