In this episode I will be reviewing a 8'7 Alpha Twin Reverse Vee by Maurice Cole. The Alpha Twin is Maurice Cole and ‪@REALWatersports‬ 6th collaboration in surf design. The idea was to build a Swiss army knife design that works for almost anything the ocean provides. It's pulled in outline complemented by Maurice's reverse Vee design bottom contour. Is it a glider? Or a big step up...
The nose rocker and tail rocker are pretty elevated for a longer length style surf craft allowing a little more wiggle room dropping in and making more aggressive turns on critical waves. The nose has a down rail to a fuller low rail in the middle and the tail has a performance rail with hard edge starting 26 inches from the tail. The bottom starts with a Vee under the chest to a double concave which then meets a set of channels.
I wanted to share with you a community chat I designed for all things surfing. It was designed to focus on several different categories that I feel are key interested to the modern day surfer. The categories range from surf craft in general, to outside of surfing activities, to second hand products. This is a forum for everyone and anyone with the main goal of building a global community. So go ahead and check it out and I hope you enjoy.

riding this shape in an 8.6, Alpha 5, custom shape, slightly wider, channels replaced by fluted flyers, goes as a twin or 3 fin. Had some great surfs so far.

Nice review. I’ve always considered reverse V a board for a front footed surfer.

Great review. I'm thinking of adding this to my quiver. I bought the CJ Nelson Apex after your review and I'm having a blast! I've been taking the Apex to more point breaks but I'm thinking this Reverse Vee would be great for the beach breaks.

The vee in the entry helps in the choppier conditions. Ur surfing it really well!

Would love to see this one in slightly bigger surf... shoulder to OH.

  • @alexmarkovitz

Would this be too big of a jump from a 9 ft 6 longboard? I'm finding in bigger waves the board is a bit bulky, but scared i'm not going to be able to catch anything at first since it's a whole foot jump. Surfing out in Montauk and thinking about this for the fall season... any advice would be appreciated!

How does the Alpha Twin compare to a Haley Pin? I am looking for something to surf on choppy/bigger days. Groveling is less of a priority. Are they noticeably different?

Could you review the Maurice Cole Reverse Vee Twin Diamond from Real Water Sports? I have one and am trying to get a breakdown from a pro because the thing is wild!

Too bad you tested it in knee high junk. Board looks like it would work well in pacific point waves
