Hey bud, So I did a side by side comparison on this channel with a 7'4 Trimcraft Haley Pin and a 7'6 V Bowls. Its under the series Same Same But Different.
Hey David, So I have never ridden the CI Mid model. I have seen a handful but never surfed them. But from what I can kinda tell with the two is that the TPH is made for a little less critical waves and also something that is maybe a little more volume friendly. Most likely more rocker in the mid and the 2 plus 1 fin set up will help it turn easier. But the mid model will most likely excel in better more lined up waves. Think of the mid as almost a step up and not really a board that bridges the gap from a longboard to a smaller mid length like the TPH does.
@@FoilWays only surfed it a couple of times. Loved it. Probably not a good enough surfer to notice a massive difference. Picked up an Album darkness shortly after and been out on that more.
Hey bud. Definitely a cool board and stoked to see CI trying some different stuff. Just to be clear though. A hull is a much different bottom then a tri plane hull. The outlier is a very different design but they are both very fun.
@@surfcraftunion I was gonna ask you this on Jamboards but I’m too lazy to go over there now haha. Can you compare the outlier and the TPH? I, like you, have ridden the 7’ and 8’ outlier. I think I’m headed down to my local shop to scoop up the 7’6” tomorrow because it sounds like the right fit for me. BUT another shop says they’ll have some TPH in soon and I’m tempted to try one of these babies out…
@@brian2973 Hey Brian. So this is a tough one to answer because they are two very different boards because of the bottom on them. If you enjoy the feel of the outliers because of their ability to just kinda flow in waves going over deep spots and connecting I would stick with it. The TPH needs a better lined up wave in my opinion and feel that it’s where the board excels. The thunderbolt tech also obviously has a different feeling as well. So really you have to ask yourself what am I looking for and what do I need. Not sure if this helps but feel free to continue if you like.
Hi sorry for the delayed response. Just in general a tri plane bottom is a area of concave and flat spots on the bottom of the board. It’s hard to explain without showing pictures and every brand does it a touch different. If you look on Devon’s instagram or most likely Channel Islands website there are a few pictures where the lighting really shows what Britt is doing with CI s bottom contour.
how do you feel about it vs the cj nelson outlier 7'0 as a groveler ? My seaside and beyond needs a push for waves and sometimes theres just not enough power for it
Thank you for the feedback. Because of copyright we had to choose a song from a program that works with our editing software. Sorry to get nerdy haha. There are certainly other genres of music to choose from and I am open to suggestions.
Hey mate, definitely make that CI Mid video!

Thanks
Yes please - a same same different with the CI Mid!
Working on that
Hey mate love your reviews!! Definitely interested in a ci mid vs tri plane comparison and also a Ryan Lovelace V Bowls Mid review like a 7'2 -7'6

@@surfcraftunion awesome mate I will have a look
Great video! I’m stuck between this board and the CI Midlength. What do you think?? Comparison video would be awesome!

Awesome review! Thank you! Please review the Christenson Long Phish 🙏
If I can get my hands on one. For sure
Just bought one. Replacing my CI Mid with this.
What does Tri plane mean?
How do you like it 3 months later compared to the CI Mid?
@@FoilWays only surfed it a couple of times. Loved it. Probably not a good enough surfer to notice a massive difference. Picked up an Album darkness shortly after and been out on that more.
@@mattbeer9094 I like the idea of the tri-plane over the CI Mid, but I think if I were to order one I'd go custom, in order to get a 2+1 setup.
@@FoilWays probably best just getting the CI Mid to be honest then. Think the hull concept is designed to be ridden single fin.
Looks like a nice addition to the CI lineup. Seems similar to the CJ Nelson Outlier 7’2 which is also a hull design single fin.

Specifically, what makes it a Tri-plane?

How are you taking the rocker measurements?
Lay the board down with no fins in it then take a ruler and measure from the bottom of the board to th3 ground.

Outlier needs a little push. But def not as much as the seaside
@@surfcraftunion nice ! so tri plane hull needs less of a push right ?
