- Trip Forman reviews the new Maurice Cole Reverse Vee Twin Pin in the front yard at REAL. The Reverse Vee Twin Pin is the fourth board in our collab with Maurice Cole. With this one, we asked Maurice for his take on a Torren Martyn twin fin combined with his signature Reverse Vee bottom shape. The result is less fins and more tubes...

This is exactly what I’ve been searching for...y’all guarantee I’ll surf like torreyn Martin right?!?!?
Recently got a 6'11 in epoxy and have been surfing it in Florida in hurricane Larry swell from rib to overhead. With the 15 to 16 second long period the waves are really stretched out with lots of close outs. This board has been perfect for dropping in and hauling ass. It is actually pretty maneuverable off the tail and I got a couple of nice off the tops backside and was pumping top to bottom front side on a few open faces. I like is so much I'm probably going to get another in a different size.
That billabong poster in the background is my home break 👍 Noordhoek beach looking towards Hout Bay
Got one of these off someone on Craigslist. ( Think it might actually be the red board on the ground in this photo) . All I can say is the board goes. If you’re debating getting one , stop debating and just get it. I can’t wait to get this thing out in bigger surf.
Trip , it sounds like you found your barrel new weapon 😀
What size , volume will you recommend for a 70kg rider to use the twin as barrel and setup board ?
Thanks in advance for your tip
I'd love to see vid of someone riding one. I get a lot out of seeing how a board goes...
Do you think this board will be good for a 58 yo 70kgs intermediate surfer for Costa Rican beach breaks ? I'm not a very good duck diver, and rarely surf when it's overhead.
So siiiiiiiick
What fins do you like for this board? How would you size it liters wise in your quiver? Would you like this board for a Nicaragua trip? Or Hurricane season for NY?
Future en twins
Gotta be some sort of reference to the original designer of these boards. So many coming out these days (with their own versions and slight tweaks, in this case the reverse V) without any homage to Simon Jones.
Maurice Cole and the Reverse Vee date back to the early 1990's when he shaped them for Tom Curren.
Yea I’ve got a similar shape made by Gary McNeill, Rasta’s shaper. Probably half the price of a Simon Jones board and so much fun
I am stuck between the twin pin and the step up. Do they feel much different?
Charlie, the Step-up is going to be more predictable in critical conditions. It will allow you to pull tighter turns as well. The Twin pin is ridden a bit longer and is a barrel machine. The channels really lock in the twin finsso it goes straight and fast. Turns on the Twin-Pin will be more flowing and not as radical. The Step-Up will give you more versatility while the Twin Pin gives you speed for barrels and big arching turns.
@@REALWatersports thanks for the help! How would you size the step up liters wise in your quiver? This would by my first one
@@REALWatersports what fins have ypu got in the board or would recommend? Thanks
The wax on the board looks like a little person😂
