@@CallMeAL1Exactly. This really bothers me. If someone purchased this pattern to knit and isn’t all over social media, they’d never find this correction.
@@CallMeAL1 Hi :) In my pattern that I bought in september has a note above chart C about row 5 and how to make it seamless so I guess she did upload a corrected version. :)
I do remember someone mentioning this but not everyone uses ravelry so hopefully she’ll revise the pattern in the future so you don’t have to go hunting for the correct instructions 🥰
@@hayleys_space Hi :) In my pattern that I bought in september has a note above chart C about row 5 and how to make it seamless so I guess she did upload a corrected version. :)
I also wanted to say that I love that you often use accessible yarns that are not too expensive, and after I saw your Bookclub Cardigan with the Shadow marle (I know you've decided its not quite right for that pattern though) I got some in pink from Lincraft here in NZ and have started a plain stocking stitch cardigan from an old print Patons pattern and I actually really like that yarn. It does shine with the plain stitch pattern I think :)
that's so lovely to hear! I feel like there's a lot of pressure sometimes to knit with more fancy yarns but craft store yarns can be just as beautiful - and not so damaging for my wallet haha I love that you're using the pink shadow marle yarn! it's a beautiful colourway and I'm sure it's going to look lovely
It looks gorgeous! I love how summery it looks in cotton, especially the white 🤍 My salty days is in timeout because the sleeves are too tight 🥲 I think I’m going to skip the decreases and hope for the best!
thanks so much lovely! I definitely think skipping the decreases is a good idea and something I wish I did for sure! yours will turn out beautiful I’m sure of it 🥰
You have done a great job on this sweater it looks beautiful 😍 Thanks on all the tips for this pattern, I have only knit the back panel but other knitting jumped the queue 😂
I love to watch project vlogs! It's so cool to see a project going from idea to finished and wearable garment😍 and all the bitts and piece in between were simplt lovely, your vlogging styles is amazing! As for the Salty Days sweater, I made mine over the summer in a wool-alpaca blend and I can confirm that the sleeves as written for the size you're making are just too snug. To get the slightly more relax (not even oversized) look that the samples have you have to size up, which is a problem for many sizes since there are just three "groups" of sizes for the sleeves (if I remember correctly) and in each group the stitch counts are the same. I was lucky cause I made size XS for the body and went up to an S for the sleeves (after knitting one entire sleeve in the suggested size just to see that it wasn't gonna work). All's well that ends well and I love my version, but that's quite a bummer because we should be sure, that if we follow the pattern instruction and we meet gauge, we get a piece that's very close to the original deisgn
thank you for watching and enjoying the vlog! I sized up to the last ‘group’ of sizes and yeah still came out way too snug but cotton ribbing tends to grow over time and with wear so we’ll see what happens!
I am knitting this pattern now and find the detailed written instructions very easy to follow other than the infamous row 5. This was my first time knitting texture and her writing style has inspired me to try her Arctic Light which looks much more detailed.
Bendigo wool has a cotton bamboo blend, or cotton Lycra blend which gives the cotton more bounce and substance. Looks lovely though just be careful when you wash very gentle and not often! Congratulations you should be so proud! ❤
Your sweater came out fantastic! The colour is fantastic on you and the pairing with the white pants is giving vacation by the beach! ❤ I'm still working on the body and I'm on the fence about sizing up on the sleeves. Yes in the end my friend helped me with it but I really am surprised the designer hasn't put out a correction to the pattern. I'm sure it's stopped many people in their tracks knitting this pattern xx
I think your Salty Days turned out beautiful, you did a great job. I'm attempting to turn mine into a V neck cardigan, as realistically I won't wear a sweater as much as a cardigan. I've made a few mistakes but it's been interesting and I've done the back, one front and doing the second front. I'm doing the pieces flat. I'm trying to decide what type of button band would work for it - simple rib, twisted rib or double knit? If its not too much of a frankenstein at the end I might post on instagram with your KAL tag. I have found that while my swatch was on gauge, I think its come out somewhat larger, with 100% wool.
oh my gosh you are an inspiration!! I've always dreamed about getting to a skill level where I can alter patterns that way! please post the finished object using the hashtag and tag me as well so I can share it! I'm sure it's going to look amazing! I feel like you can never go wrong with a double knit button band (it just looks so clean and professional!) but otherwise I think a twisted rib would be lovely too! thanks for watching :)
@@hayleys_space Not sure if the skills match the ambition and there's been some frogging but its fun to try! I'll post some progress shots in the weekend. I'm happy to see you followed your own advice, haha.🥰 I'm super amazed that you managed to finish the sweater quite quickly and I love the finished sweater, I think the cotton yarn really shows off those lace details. Perfect for the summery weather ahead. As for trusting gauge, from what I've found out, is to disregard the swatch entirely and to use it as a guide instead. By trying on the sweater, you should get an accurate measurement to how the garment fits on you. I personally use the swatch to see how it quickly works up and if I like the yarn. This video really has motivated me to start my own cardigan. Currently I'm just finishing off some old projects to clear up some space but I am really excited. I hope you have a wonderful day/week ahead. - Ranjita aka chocolatesandpasta
I definitely learnt a lot about plant fibres during this project and yeah not sure if I can trust my gauge swatches anymore 😂 which cardigan are you going to cast on??
I think the best thing i have done with cabling is to get rid of that 3rd needle and knit them by slipping and twisting them!! Hassle-free and much easier - because I can just visualise them before knitting them.
My first knit project was this sweater and it was actually super easy to follow the pattern, the arm issue and the cables being different did not happen to me it was exactly like the sample photo i think your problem is with the yarn choice. The only problem I faced is row no 5.
thanks for watching! you’re very brave for doing this sweater as your first knit project! I definitely think my yarn choice was a big contributing factor!
Hayley was your row gauge correct? That might be why your sleeve is so short…. I always have to lengthen sleeves on every pattern. A lot of designers are very small and petite, though Veronica is not short as far as I can tell. Lovely project.
it was! I think it’s mainly because I used a plant based fibre which mostly doesn’t change much with blocking and the pattern does suggest a wool based yarn so 🤷♀️ thanks for watching 🥰
How does that yarn feel to wear? I bought some when Spotlight had a half price yarn sale a while ago, and it feels a bit rough. Does it soften with washing?
Very good feedback about the pattern. I have heard only good things about the pattern so this is helpful. Maybe your feedback will encourage corrections to the pattern.
I think it’s difficult to knit a pattern not conceived for a plant fiber. I’ve learned that the hard way! Check out Japanese designers who design more for hot weather and plant fibers.
@@hayleys_space I bookmarked Yumiko Alexander, designs gorgeous lace patterns! Got the tip from a video Easily knitfluenced did on all Japanese designers, you might get more inspiration there!
The gaps between the sections were meant to be in garter stitch instead of stockinette and the pattern is laid out in such a way that if you’re not careful, you will miss it which is a bummer! I hope after this KAL the designer decides to revisit and revise this pattern

I loved watching your progress with the Salty Days sweater and I really enjoy watching your podcasts. I knitted quite a few of Veronika’s patterns, including this sweater and overall I liked her patterns and cannot remember finding any mistakes in them. I did a test knit for her earlier this year and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The pattern contained many errors -which is not a big problem for a test knit pattern -, but she was very slow to answer the comments/questions, sometimes it took her a week, and even when she attempted to correct the mistake, her solution was still incorrect mathematically. I tried to help her with a particular error by sending the correction in an excel file for each size, but never heard back from her regarding it. It was at a late stage of her pregnancy and I thought it was the pregnant brain that was not functioning well, so I overlooked it. However when she released the pattern a few months later, she did not show any appreciation towards the test knitters, she did not even say a thank you. The icing on the top of the cake was that she had to be reminded to provide the final version of the pattern to the test knitters. I have done a lot of test knits for quite a few designers and all of them have been lovely, kind, very helpful and professional with only this one exception. I decided at that stage that I would not buy and knit any of her patterns in the future and would not apply to her test knit calls. I am sorry if this sounds very negative, but it was what I experienced and truth needs to be told 😊. Keep doing what you are doing, it is lovely 😊.
that’s a shame you had that experience test knitting for her and I’m sorry that happened! I definitely think her patterns need some further revision and editing for sure! thank you for sharing and for watching! 🥰
