If you can move that big metal desk, see about putting wheels on it so you can move it if you ever need to some other time.
Good idea!
I agree. Don't know how to "jack up" (as in changing a tire) both ends simultaneously safely but adding casters (wheels) would be so beneficial now and in the future. Hope it goes well. Happy Spring everyone!!!
They have large disk furniture slides. It will keep your flooring from getting scratched when you two move it back in. Your grow room is amazing. I would love to have one some day.
@@kathrynmauro8673 I was just going to suggest that. A great idea.
My husband is a contractor and he uses the disk slides, they work beautifully! Back savers for sure!
I say, make the grow room into your canning kitchen, so that when you're canning a bunch of preservation projects in the summer, you don't heat up your whole kitchen! Bring the freeze dryer and other food preservation appliances in there, and it will streamline preserving everything from the garden. Since you have water in there, you can also install a sink and a small counter next to it for washing produce. All of your preservation supplies could be put in the metal desk and on the shelf.
I like that idea!
That is a good idea!!
That's a great idea...a preservation room! I think painting the cement floor is a great idea too. The heavy metal desk and the possibility of dropping heavy objects may cut into a vinyl floor anyway. If it's just used as a utility type room, it's best to keep the cement. You can even paint it with texturing paint (garage floor paint). Easy peasy to sweep and mop up spills. Less likely for slip and falls too.
Oooo that would be a good idea once you make the greenhouse outside... and those big windows would give great natural light for videoing.
I,love this idea
i love that josh has been in the videos more frequently and mic'd up. it is great to see you both interact. I think bigger projects with both would be fun.
Stain the concrete! Scrape up as much of the glue as possible, buff it down, and stain the concrete! I have a friend who did this in her HOME, as they remodeled it and it is beautiful. No need to worry about the flooring once it’s stained. 🎉
That's how I would go for now. The purpose of the room is soil. Then down the road when you have greenhouse and decide how you will use this room you will have more time to contemplate and make decisions about long term. Its all good whatever direction you go. You have time to breathe and dream.
Yes, you are correct, we painted our concrete floors also. They have paint for that 😉
I would definitely do that… stained concrete is awesome & you can hose the dirt out. The vinyl might start lifting over time if it gets wet a lot.
You can also paint concrete. Stain would still show all the glue marks. Paint would cover and be a solution for now for far less than flooring while you decide on the purpose of that room in future.
I think we might! I love that idea :)
Hi Becky! Suggestion: with that indoor hose and no step up into the house, maybe consider a water/moisture alarm thatll alert you if there is a leak.
Amen!
And for the water heater, too!
You can paint the concrete
Josh is an adorable goober. I can hear the smile in your voice when you talk to him.
Becky: I have a couple of hours - I think I'll paint the shelf. Me: I have a couple of hours - I think I'll watch Becky paint a shelf 😄
😂😂😂
Right!! 😂😂😂😂
Right on. Me too. 😂
Haha. Yup, same here.
I have scraped and painted many concrete floors. Makes a super durable surface that is easy to mop, sweep, vacuum and keep clean. Also prevents the ‘dust’ that comes off of unsealed concrete. Some paint stores have option to tint to a color of your choice but ensure a good quality concrete product is chosen. Only downside is it can be a bit slippery with croc type shoes if the floor is wet. There are products that can be purchased that have a ‘grit’ in it to reduce slipping. The downside with this is that it’s a bit more difficult to clean.
They actually have paint kits for concrete floors that have semi abrasive material you can sprinkle over the surface. Also they have decorative items that you can sprinkle in the surface area to create the illusion of a vinyl floor.
And it’s always ready to install other flooring sometime in the future if you..or future owners want to.
Yes painting might be a good solution for now, easy to clean with dirt. They have conrete paint with texture for no slipping. I've used it.
Please, please, please paint the pegboard as well. It will look soooo much better! Plus, paint in the holes will keep the clips from falling out so easy. 💖🌞🌵😷
What a beautiful team you two are ❤it’s a joy to see!
I agree 100%, so nice to see.
Good attitude to have, always something to slow things down, but sometimes they happen for a reason and have a fun party and Happy Birthday to Josh,🎉
Happy Birthday Josh 🥂hope you had a wonderful day. The place is looking great. Thank you both for sharing your life/journey with us.
When you get your greenhouse, that little room would make an incredible mudroom for when the kids get older.
@@summerofstacey6676They have one young boy but have chosen not to put him on social media.

Hey Becky. Hey Acre Friends. I am ready to see all the fun exciting things that are fixing to go on. ❤❤❤
Hello Acre friends and family! Hope everyone is having a blessed day ❤
Right back at you! : )
you can use an epoxy type garage floor paint and add color chips to it for the floors
You can store .your tools in the drawers ,your dirt and fertilizer under the drawers. Perfect as a gardening shelf!
You are so organized, you just amaze me. If I were having company the next day, I’d be in panic mode. But nooot Becky! Miss Organization! So jealous!❤️
Ms organization yes but I noticed when she speaks really fast, her eyes are noticeably dark and wants to tackle all like football players, she's mostly stressed. Josh was hardly touching the heavy lightly, she was wonder woman😅
If the edge behind the cabinet along wall need concrete, get a bag of concrete mix and pour and lay concrete with a trellis❤❤ Put down your own tile with cuts facing the wall behind counter.
@@Indigosoul127 what rubbish are you speaking? Please keep ur thoughts to yourself … indigo soul!but you try to breakdown someone else you don’t even know. Time for introspection me thinks… have a great day 😊
Happy Birthday Josh may you have many more. 🧁🎂
I would get some industrial wheels for the black cabinet for sure! Also, have Josh add wheels to the bottom of that cabinet you just painted. It will make it easier to move around your seeds to the work area, etc. you could always add a strip across the back of the open areas if you’re worried about things falling out the back.
Would love to see other renos you and Josh have done in the house, even a house tour. I was thinking about the rooms upstairs that you were working on when you moved in.
I’m surprised you just didn’t put the flooring off for a couple months till you start planting the seedlings, sure would have made sense to me and doing so it would really save time and energy to do other more important things.
When we finished our basement floor we put a plywood over the cement that has pucks underneath. It allows for the concrete to breathe and prevents any moisture (because concrete is porous) from getting on the finished flooring. It might be an option for that utility room. It's also got the benefit of keeping the floor a little warmer because it's not in direct contact with the chilly concrete.
We have a concrete floor that was paint and it’s been wonderful to keep clean and never losses it shine !
Becky unsealed concrete creates tons of dust. Polish and seal the floor if you keep it
If you store your seeds in the metal cabinet it will keep them cool & in a dark place. I would just leave it concrete. You can buy a sealer for it. That will make it shiny. Or you can buy the garage floor paint & sealer it looks really nice. It will be so much more durable without the flooring.
🎉🎉🎉🎉Happy Birthday Josh! Hope you enjoyed your special day.🎉🎉🎉🎉
Making progress. I love watching the progress. Tfs. Have a wonderful afternoon.🤗
Good afternoon Becky! Happy Growing!🌱🌱🌱❤️🙏❤️🙏☮️
Happy Saturday!
@@AcreHomestead never heard of cinnamon preventing mold. Ha, the things I learn from a little girl in the opposite end of the US! Thanks hon!
Paint those metal shelves bf you put them back! So much easier with them all taken apart.
You could run a sander over your concrete floor, paint with a good sealer/primer and paint it! I think your room would look great with an olive green floor to complement your walls! It would cost far less than flooring and be easy to clean and touch up as needed.
Wow! You are one busy lady. I'm sure how ever you finish the floor will be awesome. 👍 Happy Birthday to Josh. 🤗🎂🎈🎉
You could put the heat mat on the grow shelves n save yourself some room. You also should paint the metal cabinet it's such a eye sore. Also you could take that end cabinet n place by the water lines n add a utility sink
I was thinking the same thing about that cabinet being right on the wall by the spigot. And keeping the seeds in that cabinet so everything is cohesive.
I need an older Josh!!! HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO YOU, Josh.
Thank you for the extra video, I enjoyed this. Love seeing mini projects get done off the list.
A new grocery had their concrete floor stained in a couple of brown tones swirled with hi lights of turquoise. Then sealed in gloss finish. It was so so pretty and of course, very practical.
Many of the grocery stores by me have done the stained concrete floors instead of tiles. It’s a good look.
You can put wheels on the wooden shelf also some that lock. You’ll be able to move it when it’s full to clean behind.
5:00
Becky: Josh, will you do that for me?
Josh: Sure! (*does it*)
Becky: Well that was really easy to get that done 😂
Wish that process worked at my home!
Yeah my husband is never that happy and willing to help!
Josh is a blessing 😊
That had me laughing so hard! Thanks for the giggles!
You should try a foam roller when painting a piece of furniture. I used a foam roller on a cabinet in my kitchen that my microwave was in & the bottom held pot & pans. It really was beautiful.
An idea. 💡 you could use rustoleum paint spray and paint those cabinets . Just a thought. I admire how you just roll with issues. Such a sweetoutlook in life. Have a great weekend celebrating with friends and family
Great point about metal top. If she’s building a greenhouse, a mudroom makes so much sense.
Lots of work, but looking great. I can't wait to see the finished room.
Thanks for sharing.
Great teamwork. 💙🩷
You are one hard worker girl! I wish I had ur energy!
Hi Becky, hi friends! Have a wonderful weekend!
I love you Becky youre the big sister I never had. I learned ALOT from you. GOD BLESS YOU N YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS!❤❤
Idea: paint the metal cabinet with Rustoleum sage green. Later, pre-made butcher block top from Lowe's/Home Depot.
the metal desk top is actually more beneficial for her heat mats.
How nice to have a room like that!
Hey Becky, I noticed that one of your peppers seeds are called Ajvar. These peppers are used to make Ajvar, which is where they get there name. Ajvar is a condiment and a pentry must, here is Serbia and the rest of the Balkans. It is made by roasting the peppers and then canning them. It is supper delicious and you can put it on anything. I don't think you picked the Ajvar peppers to grow this year, but please think about it for next year, because I bet you would love Ajvar if you tried it.
Also, thanks for all the videos! You inspired me to do some of my own freezer meals and gardening and I am so thankful for all the knowledge you shared on your videos
Are they hot?
@@phylliscurtner5578 no, Ajvar peppers are sweet. But you can add spicy peppers to your Ajvar to make it hot.
That sounds delish! I'm a huge condiment person!😂
31:37 Oh! That shelf looks soooo much better! 👍. 💖🌞🌵😷
You have Elfa upright shelf supports behind that wooden cabinet. It would not take much to order the shelves and brackets rather than paint the wooden shelf. It would be so much better for organizing.
They have great painting ideas for concrete floors
They sell a concrete stain that you can get in a lot of different colors. My employers have an archery shop. They stained the cement floor in the range like green grass and it looked really cool. It helped to seal the cement as well as brighten up the space. Hope this helps somehow! 😊
I was thinking about concrete stain or maybe an epoxy.
I know many people who have painted their concrete floors and were very happy with the results and it looks very nice too! You will like how easy it is to keep clean as a grow room too. 🍀
I would definitely just stain and seal the concrete and call it done. It would work so great for that space, and then you really don’t need to add additional fixes (and money) to it.
It would still look super nice, and be functional!
Team work makes the dream work, way to go Acre Homestead family❤❤
Hola Becky and Friends ❤
Good Morning!
Becky, clean the concrete then get you some epoxy floor coat! Or have someone do it for you. It’s pretty and coats all is self leveling and easy to clean. Then throw you some support type rug mats down. ❤
make sure you super clean the floor, both vacuum and wash it. Good luck with the humongus metal thing.😊
Since it is a grow room for now, I would go with the floor as is with some cleaning. Then later you can put nice carpet or hardwood, depending on what it is to be use as. Enjoyed the video. Blessings
I'd highly recommend painting the concrete floors !!
I would either have no flooring or put the proxy down with the speckles. I personally think the proxy with speckles will make it look really professional and nice.
Becky,...be sure really sure that u know what u want and do not change ur plans 10 times in two days..be meanful to the contractors...or u pay them for their extra time or do not ask for a thousand changes just because u change your mind...the room once finished will look more inviting to be there doing all the prep for the gardening... a metal table with casters will work perfectly...like the once used in restaurants for prep...
Fantastic job Becky 🥰
Yay! Becky ❤
I have a greenhouse and also a seed room/ canning kitchen, maybe think about using your room that way in the future, you would love it ! They do have concrete paint looks good and easy to clean. 😁
Turn the grow room into Josh’s office. You could always stain the concrete and just put an area rug in the room.
I think there is a room upstairs that is going to be his office.
You can totally rent a concrete grinder and lay down a nice epoxy floor in there! It would look so good and clean up so nice. Either way, good job!
SWEET POTATO SLIPS. I watched The Prolific Familysteads video on sweet potatoes and he suggested to put the potatoes in soil and it works so well I was amazed. Putting the potatoes in water in a jar have slower growth I will always use soil from now on
If you don’t put flooring down. Well you can get those heavy mat’s restaurants use that they stand on you can clean them easy, but it’s coming together really well.
Happy Birthday Josh🥳
Hello! An idea for you. Now that you have taken the cabinet apart, you now have the option of rearranging the order of them, like putting the drawers in the middle! It is duch a nice height to work at, you will continue using it even after you have your greenhouse. Maybe a coat of paint? And definitely put wheels on it, like someone else suggested. Hope the foundation/flooring issue is not too much of a problem to fix. Happy gardening!!!
Trust me, you'll find things to put on those white shelves! 💖🌞🌵😷
Know it’s not a democracy, but my vote is don’t keep the concrete floor. Put in your vinyl (or whatever). Take care!
You work so hard Becky. I'm amazed. Hugs.🎉🎉🎉
Great team work.. Hic ups not unusual with remodel. Glad big cupboard came apart. Could paint concrete. Looking better. Thanks for sharing.
It’s wonderful how well you and Josh work together. You’re a great team.
I would also spray paint the metal cabinet & put wheels on it so you move it easily.
Attach your shelving to the wall with a short webbing strap. Littles might pull it down on themselves.
That piece of wood you painted I would put 2 nice hooks on it for a apron and your Roo apron, you go in there for gloves so the aprons are there for you too
We painted out garage a nd outhouse concrete floors with floor paint in grey looks great easy to,touch up any scratches etc easy to mop and clean up and cheapest option you could just paint round the unit until you get rid of it sometime
You could also paint the floors if you wanted to.
Concrete Paint stain or Epoxy are great options. None are difficult and the floor is small enough that you could use it for practice in case you decide the garage floor need epoxy too. LOL One project always leads to another. If it will someday be a canning room check on non slip. Canning involves so much water and huge hot pots of water and slippery floors spell a trip to the ER. At least in my home. 😁. Love your channel and the way you present. A wise person tells me often ( my husband) "perfect is the enemy of done. Just get it done." You have that get it done work ethic. No over thinking , jump in a figure it out. I love that.
Becky, I love to watch your videos…I have learned so much from watching you. You inspire me so much. What kind of all purpose cleaner do you use? Maybe you could do a video on making your all purpose cleaner.😊
You can paint the floors, it would look nice and you save in that.
I have a greenhouse and there are still some plants i start indoors.
Happy Birthday Josh🎉
Hope you had a wonderful day!!
You should do a resinous system. Like an Epoxy floor, however, you would want to do a Polyurea/Polyaspartic Flake floor. Since there is a lot of light in this room and Epoxy yellows over time. I have it in my grow room and I actually do these types of floor for a job. It is the easiest thing ever to clean.
Great job Becky and Josh! Your grow room is now fresh 😊 I hope your party is a roaring success and you and your guests have a ton of fun ❤
I like the concrete floor too ❤
I love tarragon with my fried potatoes! 💙
Everything will turn out perfect. As long as it is functional right now no need to stress. Take your time and do it just the way you want it to be.
Happy Birthday Josh🎉🎉🎉
Garage floor paint works well. Then add some rubber mats where you stand.
Hi Becky, I remember when I first started watching, Josh was so very shy. Over the time he seems to have become a lot more at ease with the camera. The room looks fabulous. And a very happy belated birthday to Josh.
I wonder if you could put a rubberized spray coating on the shelf? That would protect the wood and easier clean up.
Great job you guys Becky watching you made me get so tired the energy you have is unbelievable and amazing enjoy the party.
If you leave the floor as Concrete there is paint for it so if the Glue stains the concrete the paint will cover it up. Just a thought
If you get your greenhouse and you could somehow hide the hot water heater that would make a nice sun room if you put in bigger windows or a kind of breakfast nook to relax and watch your veggies grow....😉
Becky you should paint the floors a cement color and paint the metal cabinet
Move the wooden shelves on the wall where the black unit is
If you haven't made decisions on the concrete floor already, you could always pay a artist to paint a nice "rug" on the floor. It would give the coziness without the trip or cleaning factor to worry about.
You could consider doing an epoxy finish on the concrete floor. We had it done on our garage floor and it makes it very easy to sweep and clean.
