    Come on, people! He never said that he didn't know who Prince was, just that one song. He was born 13 years after it was released, and 1999 only got to 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 (purely U.S. list) in 1983 and presumably a lot lower, if charting at all, in the rest of the world. I'm also Colombian, older than Jesús, and trust me, this song was not a thing growing up here at all. Furthermore, Jesús comes from a region in the north coast of our country where you could only find one genre in the radio back in the 90s called vallenato and I can assure you that's what he grew up hearing everywhere, bar other external musical influences in his life. Honestly, some people need to curb their cultural assumptions about the rest of the world.

    • @mrh107
      @mrh107 25 дней назад +10

      Nope, clearly says he hears Prince for the first time. Never heard a Prince song before in his life. You can Believe that if you want, you might even be correct, but I very much doubt it.

    • @felipeb7185
      @felipeb7185 25 дней назад +14

      @@mrh107 what? That's just how these channels name most videos of this kind: "*Instrumentalist* hears *name of an artist * for the first time". Go look around. In most cases the performer already knows or at least has heard about the artist - because they never go for some very obscure act as that would attract no views- but happens to not know the specific song that they're being played. Also, that being the title of the video and him saying that he has never heard Prince before in it are two very different things, the latter didn't happen so my point still stands.

    • @Sassysushi
      @Sassysushi 25 дней назад +1

    • @felipeb7185
      @felipeb7185 25 дней назад +9

      @@Sassysushi Just read my comment right above yours. That is the default title for this series, they don't change it even when the performer clearly knows the artist, and, again, Jesús does not say here that he's never heard Prince. If you need further proof about the titles: "You actually know this band. In fact, you've toured with them" is the first thing that you hear being told to Jordan Rudess in his "(...) Hears Animals as Leaders for the First Time" video and Anomalie literally recognizes a different Taylor Swift song before not knowing the one that he ends up playing in the "(...) Hears Taylor Swift for the First Time" one. So yeah... now you know that these titles (as many other things on the internet) are not meant to be taken literally.

      @@surfguard He would not!
      Molina is an incredible pianist but, in this case, very bad at playing underneath vocals.
      He should have listened to the song a few more times and for sure he would have been a bit closer to the what the original harmonies are.
      Then he should have played those in a way that it fits underneath the soloist (in this case the vocals of Prins).
      The way he plays it now is like a piano solo concert, where Prins and the choir messes things up with some unnecessary vocals. underneath.
