    Ivar is a badass motherfu*ker but I loved how he stood by his dad when Ragnar was at his lowest. They went on this mission with very few ships and a bunch of old warriors. He trusted his dad all the way in what others would consider a suicide mission. What a man!

      He definitely was afraid of dying; you could even tell in the moment/scenario where he really dies tho.
      In that scene you can feel that he is just a young boy, wanting to be treated normal and as an adult.
      He's just a kid when he died & its normal to be afraid also.
      He was tough, but also he was soooo afraid and unsure of a lot of things

    Something about this scene is so emotional and beautiful at the same time. maybe its because of the score, "Ragnar says goodbye to gyda" playing in the background. I think its interesting how Ragnar looks so apologetic but resigned at the same time but Ivar is terrified. Kind of shows how Ragnar was ready to accept death at that point but was sorry that he had also put Ivar in danger.

    • @glumphyStoned
      @glumphyStoned 2 года назад +5

      The score is great, but it is emotional because it symbolizes a lot of deep stuff. First time Ivar sets out to be a man and faces the brutality of reality and nature, which he must face to become a man and warrior, that reality is gonna kill him, either literally or his old younger innocent self, which his mother knows, thats why she is devastated, Ivar already faces death without having opportunity to even express his life. Ragnar wanted his son to have his journey but when the giant wave appears, he fears he will already die instead, he looks at him without being able to do nothing, knowing tha death cant be escaped when it comes, but sad because Ivar is young. All that comes crashing down emotionally in Ivar when he screams and realizes this, especially given the fact that ivar, a cripple, was the most out of all the sons with the need to prove himself, to himself.

    As an sailor since young age, it always make me think how brave some man where to cross the sea with those boats , you don't see anything, but water and dark sky's, if encounter a strom (wich is likely you will) it almost purely giving yourself to fate and lucky to survive, it's impressive and scary all in the same time .
    This scene shows how ragnar was not afraid for him dying but , for Ivar also , we know by there how ruthless Ragnar can be , is the same guy as younger that laughed at an strom , and now by 2:04 you see how fear and sadness he carries.

    This scene was intense, badass, and emotional to me all at the same time. It's like Ivar was travailing how his mother was. Pain and suffering, and then a new beginning, which we are seeing in Ivar now in the current season,

    I know they won't die (at least for now for one of them :D) but FUCK. This scene was great. This second part of the season will be fucking insane. The first 2 episodes just set the lines so well.
    Ivar is truly an amazing and talented actor. You can feel his pain, his trouble being a cripple in this hard world. Hirst is right when he says that Alex will become one major actor of the upcoming seasons. His interpretation of Ivar is outstanding. And it's just the beginning.
    This season will shed tears. Even the fall of Ragnar made me sad for him, even tho I kind of waited for that. Real King Ragnar wouldn't let anybody spit on him like that !
    “Your father’s returns bring calamity, chaos, tragedy and death… You should curse the day.”
    This will be the darker season, when the blind man sees him.

    Man what a great scene! The baby in Ivar died and aslaug’s bleeding was a sign of that. The way he was screaming was as if she gave birth to him. I like how Ragnar covered his mouth for a second but let it go (I’m not a dad, but I can imagine dads have a moment like that when their kid cries too much lol) but let ivar get his shit off. That screamin man…epic acting

      it’s actually two different tracks played back to back but it’s “Ragnar says goodbye to Gyda” which is played in this episodes final scene. It’s also the one most frequently used throughout the shows most touching moments. 😢
