The deaths of Bjorn, Ragnar and Lagertha hurts the most ... What I love in Bjorn's scene is that you can clearly see in his eyes that he's thinking "b*tch you're lucky I'm dying otherwise you'd be dead"
bjorn knew he would never get to ivar, in the end bjorn managed to outsmart the smartest brother to beat him and went down as king of norway, he became what ivar always wanted to be, this is better than killing ivar this is how you beat him
Torstein's death is really badass, he easily enters the top 3 of the best deaths in Vikings. One arm less, a few darts in his leg and he remained strong despite everything by killing a few soldiers to give the advantage and the effect of surprise to his tribe, respect it's almost the same death as Bjorn except that Torstein didn't did not have the same reputation and was in much more difficult conditions.
Its not even the Method itself thats so scary, whats really terrifying is that you cant make any sounds during a blood eagle or you wont be granted access to valhalla. Dont make any sound. While your backskin is being cut open and your rib bones are being pulled outside.
I love how Ragnar planed everything to destroy Ecbert kingdom Even after his death but, Ecbert also fucked Ragnar when he sign the paper that will give the vikings a part of his land ("Ragnar's dream") as a king but he was no longer ruler so the paper didn't mean shit Both play fool to each other
Leif's death was always regretful, sacrificing himself to Odin, to give blessings to the stories that his friends will make. Ragnar, his family, and the others. It is like the most selfless, huge sacrifice one can make for another. It is one of the reasons why I find this arc in the story to be the most powerful and realistic. A bunch of Vikings going to a religious place in nature, getting high on psilocybin mushrooms or other. Fun and games, journeys of self-discovery, and then the hard parts about religions, human sacrifice, and the like. Seeing this, now, I can understand why it was sorta easy for some vikings to adopt the christian fate, where as others rejected it. They are like polar opposites almost and yet, they are very much alike. Sacrifices, blessings, curses, why does god do this? why did the gods do this? Follow this programming or you are not allowed to enter paradise. Die in battle to be worthy of valhalla, or die on the sea, etc... Do not commit sin, do this, do that, live this and live like that, or God will punish you with an eternity in hell. Valhalla is heaven, Heaven is heaven. There are lower heavens, and in the vikings there are different realms. some lower, some higher. I remember reading, norwegians believed sound to have created the universe, frequency, vibration, and christians say, the word of god did it all... A word is a sound, and a sound is vibration, frequency, energy... It is energy vibrating at a certain frequency. Funny enough, science proves, everything is energy, vibration and frequency.
