same! very few songs come close, particularly from static prevails, clarity, and old splits. Secret Crush is maybe my next favorite - on the sense field/christie front drive/jimmy eat world split!
What a gem. I discovered this while in 8th grade back in 2002 and it got me through more than a few heartbreaks lol.I don't listen to anything from middle school or highschool anymore but this one stays in rotation forever.
I remember when this came out. I LOVED Static Prevails, and when I heard the EP I listened to it over and over and lever again. After the “Stay By My Side” EP in 2005, I feel they lost of the edge they had. Saw them in 2018 or so, and they still rocked, though.
NicoleLikesGames I have no clue. I've even checked sound cloud and they have the live version too. I think it's something they wanted to do only live. Why idk, it's not on iTunes either.
@@semicloudy "Integrity Blues" has a few jams on it, but it's mostly 'Jim trying to figure out what younger Jim would do, and then do that', songwriting-wise. Even [and maybe especially] on the good songs: Just look at "Sure and Certain". I like the tune, it's catchy, but it literally scans like they looked at a sheet of "Jimmy Eat World guitar chords and tones", and then assembled the kit
I know this is a 4 year old comment, but that's a pretty shitty take. There's always something different on each album. "555," a single off of Surviving (the most recent release at the time of commenting), is pretty goddamn different for Jimmy Eat World. In my opinion, the only album that doesn't have something new would be Damage, but there's still some cool songs like "Byebyelove" and "You Were Good" that are different enough from their catalogue. Hell, this song isn't really trying something new for its time (considering this is around the Static Prevails, Clarity, Bleed American era). This is along the same lines as Thinking That's All, Your New Aesthetic, and Get It Faster as far as the "post hardcore Jimmy Eat World" kind of sound goes. 12.23.95 is more adventurous in production than this tbh.
This song just screams late 90's sound. Hidden gem of a track.
Yeah, Sorry .. thks btw! But I still want this version on Spotify
had this 10in, lost, been searching for this song for 10+ yrs, FINALLY

Jimmy Eat World - Softer
She's perfect in her own way
Smoke rings rising to the winter grey
She's perfect in her own way
Shining, stepping off a silver train
Now I'm getting a sick taste in my mouth
From the medicine that I can't keep down
She's amazing in her own way
Always moving to a better place
She's amazing in her own way
Laughing, you won't get to her weaker traits
Now I'm getting a sick taste in my mouth
From the medicine that I can't keep down
You know time heals nothing by itself
I see that ever so clearly now
She looks a little bit different now
Maybe a little bit softer round her eyes
Just a little bit different now
Maybe a little bit softer round her eyes
The lights had just gone out at Rockerfeller Center
Take it slow and make it softer
Easy, likes it nice and steady
The lights had just gone out at Rockerfeller Center
Take it slow and make it softer
Easy, likes it nice and steady
The lights had just gone out at Rockerfeller Center
Take it slow and make it softer
Easy, likes it nice and steady
The lights had just gone out at Rockerfeller Center
Take it slow and make it softer
Easy, likes it nice and steady
Now I'm getting that sick taste in my mouth

This is their best song. Bring it to Spotify already
still listening to this in 2021...

This sound of this song perfectly describes my emotion today. Incredibly frustrated at myself.

Something about this studio recording has always been soooo wonderful to me. I could discuss it for hours. Might partly be Zach’s drums.
drum tone is unreal in this
Same here
Yea he was smashing on this
Excellent song!!!
Best drum sound
Almost 10 years ago I asked Jim before the show if they still played 'She's Perfect' he thought for a sec and said no, sorry man.
They played it a couple of months ago in CA, apparently!
best copy I have heard - can't find the cd...
It was never a CD. It was released as a 10” in 98. Pretty sure it only got one pressing as the idea was to convince Capitol to release Clarity
@@paulreg3122 I’ve got a CD at my house, there weren’t many.

Too bad. But thanks for the answer
It's from the Jimmy Eat World self titled EP on Fueled By Ramen Records. I've seen it on Amazon.
The only place I can buy it now is for over 200 dollars on discogs. Glad I have an MP3 at least, of this record, I can send to you guys
