The album is unbelievable. The song 555 was something I needed to hear literally the moment I heard it. Very dark moment and it was eerie just how much it fit the moment I heard it. Instantly one of my favorite songs ever
@@dearlyband7715 the music was perfect, but what really did it for me was the lyrics and the message; it completely sold me. They usually have at least 1 song per album I needed to hear the moment I heard it for the first time. Growing up dealing with bullies, being too shy to talk to my crushes, and simply just processing emotions, Jim Adkins always seems to have the right words I needed to hear. Even in my 30s now, they still find the right words I needed to heat hahaha
@@dariozampa4041 absolutely one of those bands that's stayed with me for at least 20 years. Don't trip, I'm also needing to hear these things in my 30's 😝 plus, it's not like they're really writing music for one particular audience.
Holy shit I was just listening to 'Congratulations' on my walk last night and thinking it had an AFI sound to it. haha I love this entire album. It came out on my 30th birthday and they released Futures the day after my 15th birthday and remember being so excited to go to the mall to buy it with my birthday money.
"I'm not sure if I'm making any kind of sense..." As with a lot of stuff on "Surviving", that is a feeling that I know very well :D Absolutly in love with the new record right now.
Many great tracks...but so far I have Survival, Delivery, and 555 on repeat. Such great songs to join all the rest of the classics. The only album I have ever not loved by Jimmy Eat World is Damage. Couldn't get into that one at all...but this latest record is a keeper!
Totally random aside...I'm wondering if "Stop" from their Invented album was written/recorded around the same time as the Stay on my side EP? It has that vibe for me and would have fit in perfectly on that EP.
I am sorry but Jim has monotone soothing and relaxing voice when he speaks not a bad thing. He is cute too kindle a nerdy cute...I said what I said they aren’t intended to be insulting
555 is brilliant
Agreed, fuck the haters of that song

@Don't Call Me White ...I see...
I agree. It is such a great song!
They've always dabbled with electronic music and to hear something so overtly electronic come from them is really incredible! I love this song!

Tom learning about the songs right along with us 😝
LMAO
Hahahahaha he really is
I like rambling Jim.
Totally agree with what Jim said about the track "Diamond"! One of the best songs on the album
ARTV Woah.. good timing, when’s the review?

As great as 555 the song is, I'm loving the video for it too.
555 is amazing, and the video gives it an extra dimension.
Deep deep stuff and very well said. The track 555 and the accompanying video is absolutely brilliant.
Best band ever.
WHERE ARE THE OTHER 5 SONGS THAT DIDN'T MAKE THE ALBUM?? WE MUST HEAR THEM!!
Huge comeback to this band for me as a fan just because of this album. It takes me back to futures / clarity / CTL

Great album. Huge fan of One Mil!
Yes! The best song on the album
"["One Mil"] is a fun kinda 'ra-ra' sing-along song about being a loser." Probably why it's my favorite song on the new album, lol.
Yes!
"Wish I had mastery of wit, luck and fearless confidence. Then shred majestically to your heart"
Surviving is such a great record... i like 'congratulations' the most... i would like to see it live
Nice AFI impression! Awesome band, good guys it seems
New favorite band i already liked thanks to this album
Why does Tom have a mic lol

@@nw379 I had a leak of demos for Chase This Light back in the day. "Stop" was one of the demos originally meant for that album. I love that song.
Yes. I couldn't get into the "damage" album as well. Glad to see something better was followed up with
Favourite album of the year, I love it, can't wait to see you guys live !!!!
Such a great album, musically and thematically. So so relevant to the lives of many people atm. Thank you JEW!
You people are really great I love your song *Congratulation*
Delivery is my favorite
So thankful for the description of Diamond.. it's so true.
555 ❤❤

Daddy Jim, please teach me how to save money and use negative space properly in musical composition.
Thankies. :)

This interview is the reason the 1.25x speed setting was invented.
Ok so when are we gonna hear the other 5 songs they recorded for this? Cuz their demos and B-sides tend to be better than what ends up on their albums
I gotta be honest.
I can't hear Davey's vocals on Congratulations. Don't know where they are?
I've warmed up to the album a lot after initially being disappointed. I think the last five tracks outshine the first five, by far.
Geoff Openshaw congratulations & recommit are like a firework
Integrity Blues was too good.
@@thestupidpenguin Pol Roger, baby. Four years later it's still hard to find videos of live performances of it.
Honest songs. That's what I want.
My band also has a song called 555... weird..
Someone's been using that soy sauce again...
