- I can finally reveal my finished 1830's version of Mulan for Historical Disney Costume!
I am absolutely thrilled with how she turned out. and was able to realized it as she was in my head.

A concept long stuck in my head, is finally coming to fruition. combining the two loves in my life (Sorry Melchior) the 1830's era and Disney, or even better yet: PING!
Yes even though technically Mulan and Ping are the same person. I've always felt more drawn to Bad*ss Ping than to "princess" Mulan. Also in my world, life action Mulan doesn't exist.
Disclaimer I am of actual Asian and European decent. and am combining my two heritages into this costume.

Stunning. It seemed like a bit of a crazy mash up idea to begin with, but it now looks so perfectly suited I can't imagine it any other way.
I know right? The juxtaposition of the two?! But it just made sense in my head 😅

This is gorgeous! Mulan has always been one of my favorite Disney heroines! Love the mushu on your shoulder! The textures and finishing on this project are chef's kiss.

Excellent. This have most certainly been my favourite historical Disney interpretation. Not just because Mulan is my fave Disney flick, but because I love the creativity of the interpretation- you didn't just make a black and green gown, you made leather scaled armour (as a medievalist myself, I know what it takes to make that!).

This is wonderful and brings me so much joy. Super execution and vision! Also, those leg of mutton sleeves give the illusion of big strong arms in this context and heightens the connection to the cartoon silhouette.
