Everything is so lovely. I would have liked a touch of color, maybe a light grey-green vert de gris, french 18th century feel. A powder color, reflecting the painting behind so to keep the softness in the room.

2025 started off great but I am about an hour south of the devastating fires in Los Angeles. My boyfriend is staying with his mother who has been without power for the last few days, and we have family and friends who lost their homes. I am sorry to be a downer but it has been horrible. I mention this because as you show us your treasures remember that it could all be gone in an instant. Cherish what you have and let those close to you know that you love them dearly.

Happy new year! I suggest that you take everything off that new beautiful walnut bureau save the lamp and painting. Enjoy the beautiful burl for a few weeks and then slowly add a piece back every few days. I did that with my end tables and it felt so refreshing. Of course I realize it’s your call but I just thought I’d suggest what worked for me.

May I suggest your tree painting and new painting on the mantel could be installed the same height as the big painting on the other side, bigger piece at the bottom smaller at the top, flush left with the bureau. I could see it this way but off course you might have something else in mind. Have yourself a good week see you next time. Question: How hot was your iron when you removed the water stain on your desk?
Your living room is looking beautiful!! Love the new rug. I’m a huge fan of those washable rugs and have three of them in my house. The older I get the more I gravitate to the “less is more” look. I always felt I had to have something on every wall. Now I’m perfectly happy to have a blank wall here and there. Like the wall behind your sofa. I wouldn’t put anything on it. The dresser is so beautiful, and I love the new chair and can't wait to see it reupholstered. Your taste in style has definitely changed for the better in the last four years. Also love the new rug!! My new year started with a nightmare. I have COPD and when I went to refill my inhaler on Jan. 3, I discovered my insurance was all messed up and wrong and they wanted $755 to refill it for 30 days. Panic, heart attack, stroke, all were possible. Without my inhaler I would die. I have spent the entire week on the phone, on hold, talking to everyone, getting different stories everywhere. Finally, a touch of good news came in this week, and I am being changed back to my old reliable plan but have no idea when I will be able to fill my prescriptions and meet my Dr appointments in Feb. I am 72 years old. The US has some of the world's worst health care and big Pharma is getting billions of dollars for medications that cost them pennies to make. OK, I'm done griping. Happy New Year to one of my favorite RUclipsrs

Removed a couple of big pillows, making the room more neutral. I have a wide stripped white and beige rug which is actually an indoor outdoor rug which cleans beautifully. There are a few extortionary and unusual pieces. I really love the textures on the lamp next to the chair as well as the beautiful Burled wooden drawers. The lines on your new rug are also attractive and I hope you bought a washable rug 🤭. I would like to see some pop of color with the pillows it seems a little monochromatic for me. I love Martha's books years ago a friend who did catering taught me a "Martha" trick on food portions for a party. Such as asparagus or green beans is to only serve 6 pieces to a plate so it balances out the rest of the food.

Happy new year! I suggest that you take everything off that new beautiful walnut bureau save the lamp and painting. Enjoy the beautiful burl for a few weeks and then slowly add a piece back every few days. I did that with my end tables and it felt so refreshing. Of course I realize it’s your call but I just thought I’d suggest what worked for me.

May I suggest your tree painting and new painting on the mantel could be installed the same height as the big painting on the other side, bigger piece at the bottom smaller at the top, flush left with the bureau. I could see it this way but off course you might have something else in mind. Have yourself a good week see you next time. Question: How hot was your iron when you removed the water stain on your desk?
Your living room is looking beautiful!! Love the new rug. I’m a huge fan of those washable rugs and have three of them in my house. The older I get the more I gravitate to the “less is more” look. I always felt I had to have something on every wall. Now I’m perfectly happy to have a blank wall here and there. Like the wall behind your sofa. I wouldn’t put anything on it. You have so many lovely paintings on your other walls. Here’s wishing you a very happy 2025!

The dresser is so beautiful, and I love the new chair and can't wait to see it reupholstered. Your taste in style has definitely changed for the better in the last four years. Also love the new rug!! My new year started with a nightmare. I have COPD and when I went to refill my inhaler on Jan. 3, I discovered my insurance was all messed up and wrong and they wanted $755 to refill it for 30 days. Panic, heart attack, stroke, all were possible. Without my inhaler I would die. I have spent the entire week on the phone, on hold, talking to everyone, getting different stories everywhere. Finally, a touch of good news came in this week, and I am being changed back to my old reliable plan but have no idea when I will be able to fill my prescriptions and meet my Dr appointments in Feb. I am 72 years old. The US has some of the world's worst health care and big Pharma is getting billions of dollars for medications that cost them pennies to make. OK, I'm done griping. Love everything you are doing to your living room. Love your new chair, chest, and rug. I too have edited my living room here in Turks & Caicos. Removed a couple of big pillows, making the room more neutral. I have a wide stripped white and beige rug which is actually an indoor outdoor rug which cleans beautifully. I have decluttered many Knick knacks and that makes such a difference. Less is more sometimes. Thank you and have a lovely New Year. Linda

I absolutely adore the wing back chair. It's going to be a wonderful focal piece and add so much to the room. And the walnut chest gives just the right amount of grounding in its corner of the room, and actually glows.

There are a few extortionary and unusual pieces. I really love the textures on the lamp next to the chair as well as the beautiful Burled wooden drawers. The lines on your new rug are also attractive and I hope you bought a washable rug 🤭. I would like to see some pop of color with the pillows it seems a little monochromatic for me. I love Martha's books years ago a friend who did catering taught me a "Martha" trick on food portions for a party. Such as asparagus or green beans is to only serve 6 pieces to a plate so it balances out the rest of the food.
