Ich, als Deutsche in Deutschland, hab das sogar, wenn ich zu viel englischsprachigen Content auf RUclips gehört habe, selbst dann! Also total 'relatable'. Seht Ihr, ich sag's ja.😂
As a software developer in an international company, I daily read or hear English content. I occasionally have problems to find the correct German word.
It’s funny to hear him say he’s more relaxed now because I’ve watched so many videos by Americans saying Germany is more relaxed with a slower pace of life and more relaxed because they CAN’T go shopping or anything on a Sunday. It just proves how quickly we integrate into new environments and that becomes the new normal. I would say Mike seems definitely happier in Florida.
On Sunday, we are more relaxed because we have no choice. Those other days become much more stressful when we have to divide up our errands between them.

Servus von Bayern Haley und Mike, and Happy New Year! Wow, 5 credit cards within one year? That is amazing, did the requirements change within the last few years? I lived in the states for 20 years, after living there for a few years, I had a conversation with a German friend of mine. No idea why Mike said he felt stressed in Germany because of the closing times of shops. Munich is a big city so how long have the shops and supermarkets open? Supermarkets should be no problem at all. Opening times until 8 pm should be enough but they often have open until 9 pm or 10 pm and maybe one until midnight. Is it different from Cologne to Munich? It was nice watching this video. The sense of humor is doing a wild ride here :-)
Has Mike ever seen “The Ramsay Show” on RUclips? It often highlights the problem of mishandling credit cards. And what does he think of the 401k? I wish there was something like that in Germany too.

Ich habe es bei einem deutschen Freund beobachtet, dass sich tatsächlich nach einem Jahr Amerika Fehler im Deutschen einschleichen. Wenn man das vermeiden will, dann muss man ständig zwischen den Sprachen wechseln.
I feel with Mike, when he thinks in English and has to translate into German. Living in Sri Lanka as a German and the last visit to Germany was more than 7 years ago, German feels more and more complicated to me. You need so many words in German while you could tell the same thing with a short sentence in English.
I lived several times in other countries: Ivory Coast, Spain, Switzerland. And I was travelling all over the world. Working as an intl. Management consultant. I felt always a crack in my perception and feelings entering another country. This culture shock is very necessary, because it creates a new perception! I did a lot of coaching in this matter.
Please English or subtitles when you go into Deutsche. How is Mike finding working in the USA and do people expect you to get married once they find out you have been together for a few years?
An idea could be american cars 🇺🇸🚙 vs. european cars🇪🇺🚗. how big a difference is there between the cars, both in design and engine, hp etc. maybe have a look at the electric cars also. I will always choose a european car over an american one.
So now he can imagine how difficult it must have been for you and appreciate your struggle to live in Germany....THe people are so different, so much more relaxed, friendly and less constntly watching what others do and looking for some small mistake to criticize!
It really was. I think Mike appreciates my journey a little more now as well because he is experiencing first-hand what it's like to be alone and be so far away from your "comforts". The positive thing about Mike is that his family loves to travel and has already visited us a few times ❤️
What about social security, there is none in America as far as I know, do you have to put money aside to bridge unemployment? And what about your retirement provision? You say you don't have to work that hard, can you earn enough with little or relaxed work, or do you still have something in Germany and do you work for a German organization?
You have retirement in the USA, you pay towards it every month out of your paycheck. From my perspective, nurses work only 2-3 days a week usually which is what I mean with not "hard"....
@@hayleyandmike This is presented differently by the many videos about life and work, balance on this site and the sick days and bills you get when you end up in the hospital or the use of an ambulance etc. There are enough Americans who are young and leave for Europe, that's why I found it strange that you chose to do it the other way around. But if you don't have to worry about these kinds of things, then you are right, America is also beautiful.
Where did you get that information? There is social security in the US, it's just only a small percentage of your earned income and most Americans can't live off it, which is why most contribute a percentage of their income every paycheck towards a 401k investment account (an employer benefits which most companies have). Additionally there are many other ways Americans save and put money aside so that when they retire they live comfortably. In a lot of European states, you pay a percentage towards the state's social system which is distributed once you reach a certain age, 65+. In the US it's a much more flexible system, the ball is completely in your court, the more you save, the more you invest, the more you have at retirement. While those who fail to plan, will struggle in old age
You two fight so sweetly, like an altes Ehepaar.😍 I do not agree with your interpretation of German small talk behavior. Telling a complete stranger, what you would eat for dinner, is not a Datenschutz-catastrophe, but would bore him or her to death! I think a German person does not do that out of consideration.

Ich habe es bei einem deutschen Freund beobachtet, dass sich tatsächlich nach einem Jahr Amerika Fehler im Deutschen einschleichen. Wenn man das vermeiden will, dann muss man ständig zwischen den Sprachen wechseln.
very sweet 🥰
Thank you 🤗
Mike, was machst du eigentlich beruflich in den Staaten?
Wir machen irgendwann ein Video dazu (aber gib uns ein paar Monate) 🥴 🥴
@hayleyandmike
Würd' ich gerne, aber ich weiss nicht,ob ich dann noch lebe.🥺 (kein Joke)
I feel with Mike, when he thinks in English and has to translate into German. Living in Sri Lanka as a German and the last visit to Germany was more than 7 years ago, German feels more and more complicated to me. You need so many words in German while you could tell the same thing with a short sentence in English.
That is very true! We always talk about how English is so simple compared to German. It is like giving your brain a break.
I lived several times in other countries: Ivory Coast, Spain, Switzerland. And I was travelling all over the world. Working as an intl. Management consultant. I felt always a crack in my perception and feelings entering another country. This culture shock is very necessary, because it creates a new perception! I did a lot of coaching in this matter.
haha.....??????
ich nicht speaken or unterstanden Deutsch, Haley.... could we get some English subtitles please?
@@pqrs_987 I can try my best 🫠😂
@@hayleyandmike 😁
It's not the yellow from the egg.😂
I love watching yall together. It’s always so funny. Love watching mike talk . He’s very amusing. Hallo aus Spartanburg SC 👋
Did he already have an English name when he lived in Germany?
Mike? 😂 I think Michael is a universal name for the most part 😅
@hayleyandmike The German short form of Michael isn't Mike, but Micha or Michi.
@ he has always been called Mike ☺️
A "safe space" for Mike😂😂😂
Oh mei, wo kann’s relaxter sei, ois wia in Bayern.
You are the cutest couple here on RUclips. I would marry you both!
You two fight so sweetly, like an altes Ehepaar.😍
I do not agree with your interpretation of German small talk behavior. Telling a complete stranger, what you would eat for dinner, is not a Datenschutz-catastrophe, but would bore him or her to death! I think a German person does not do that out of consideration.
Ist ja geil 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm looking forward to deutscher Dienstag 😂
Mike is accidentally hilarious.
😂 he really is. Very dry Humor 😅
If you showed the same alligator every week, eventually you would have to start a third channel to give it a platform.
We have a favorite here.... he is always in his same spot giving us a little show!
you both speak Denglish
