Ive not played Dark Souls, but i do have Wildspire and i actually like it, i have the Arsenal too so ill prob grab the Ancient Forest version at some point too.
I got this as a huge fan of the video game, and it is alright. The models are definitely the main draw. I thought it was more fun than bloodborne and dark souls and that's good enough for me.
Might be a big investment of time and money but if you ever get the chance to play Black Rose Wars I think you should. It’s a big favorite of mine and they just delivered on its second kickstarter Rebirth which could be arguably better. I would be interested in what you think of it.
Its times like this I'm glad that minis aren't much of a draw for me 99% of games that heavily feature minis are terrible games and are just an excuse to sell a load of plastic in a box for £100+
So they took dark souls and changed the figures 😉 Maybe I just don't like skirmish. But honestly the best video game conversion but not scored highly on bgg for some reason is Bloodborne card game (not the other one).
There's issues with how stuff is spread out over those expansions too. Hunter's Arsenal is nice because it adds six new hunters, however three of those hunters rely on monsters from Wildspire Wastes to upgrade their gear and three use Ancient Forest, so unless you also spring for both base games you'll only get to use half the content. Similar problem with the Elder Dragons, the top level gear they come with doesn't cover every hunter so unless you check beforehand (and have either the other base game or hunter's arsenal) or add another Elder Dragon it's quite likely you'll find out late in the campaign that one or two of your players don't actually have access to the top tier weapons.
Characters in dark souls dont play cards to do stuff. They just have equipment cards which are equipped and and use dice to determine effects . Granted monsters and bosses in mhw and DS do have card driven programming. Maybe I've misunderstood your intent. All best
As someone who has played a lot of MH, I can tell you that there's barely any content in that box, compared to how much content is in any of the MH games. The paltry amount of monsters in the board game version alone is a travesty, compared to any of the video game entries. I imagine the idea is the release expansion packs to milk players that want more monsters and equipment.
How've you decided to give a try to this bohemoth box of monsters? It is an expansion hell, more weapons and monsters... eventually will take up half of a room if not more. People said Primal Awakening is a better version of it. But then why not playing the video game instead? Cheaper and better.
Welcome to SFG 😂 they can make miniatures… but gameplay is always shit and of the lack of content seals the deal 🤣 besides the narrative „idea“ maybe lend from OATHSWORN which is a superb Bossbattler with grat narrative and campaign 🤩🙌🏻
@@BoardGameBollocks Bloody hell, your hard to please, Oathsworns is one my group really enjoyed. Mind you I think your more into dexterity and Euro games. I'm not sober enough to enjoy dexterity games and I fking hate Euro games.
@HarleyFirestorm I like all sorts of games but Oathsworn was a classic case of style over substance. Masses of content with a ‘copy and paste from other games’ format.
@@BoardGameBollocks Maybe so, but we still really enjoyed it, we actually played it from start to finish, most of the games are different takes on some thing or another, originality is quite hard these days, some games really are just re-skins on whats been done before.
I dont get it - why bother with such a huge box and a boring map/board and not go somewhere, buy some nice minies you like and directly play D&D? Or even better anything else besides D&D :D ?
I think your closing comments apply to both video and board game. The best part of this series is the interaction/cooperation with other players.

No the seal of approval, but the teabag of approval. Lovely.
Great review, thanks

Those miniatures would look great painted 😘

Nice work. Quite surprised you stumped up the cash for this though big fulla?!
Please review Scarface 1920!
Did you try Primal: The Awakening?
No mate

$100 then $200-300 -400 + for expansions.🤔 Depends if you have unlimited funds I guess.

The game box looks like you could murder somebody with it. Don't get any ideas, BB.
Card system for characters is entirely different to sunless city.
Not entirely. You’re exaggerating.

You play the equipment cards to do stuff…
Commenting before watching or reading other comments. BB will completly $hi7 on this game as an overproduced expensive grindy waste of money.

Eh I am somewhat intrigued that being said I wil wait til iceborne hits retail and see what the reviews are then .
Was much less expensive to buy via KS
This isn’t the KS though mate…
Mhw is solid enough...check out Primal for something different in the monster hunting genre.
I bought that game for the minies. The board game in the box was nice to have.

Maybe if you don't have a computer that can run it, or you just don't like video games...
Board games have more tactile feeling than pressing keyboards or a controller.

Oathsworns narrative was drier than the Sahara desert
You need to play Oathsworn
I have. It was crap.
