Some good looking models there! I am just getting into painting, and it has taught me a patience that I didn't think I had. Hands are also a lot more steady than I thought they would be in my late 40s. Such a neat hobby, and thank you all so much for getting me back into it. Fell out of gaming in my late teens, but your channel is what sparked my interest again!
This is such a great video! So much more clear than all other playthroughs. I appreciate you going indepth explaining your strategy as well. Very comfortable to listen to and extremely informative.
Thank you so much for breaking the game down turn by turn and round by round! This game surprised how much I am enjoying it and your video helped me confirm I was playing it right. Yours is one of my favorite, go-to channels!
This, my friend, is what we call a "geek-flattering" game! :) Biiig minis, lots of loot, lots of options to craft - I can see RPG lovers getting immersed into this game. Neat! Also, well painted, Bairnt!
Been enjoying our play thru's in a mega campaign joining elders and both core sets. 3 successful assigned quests in and gaming group enjoys the crafting phase and getting new weapons/armor - talk about AP - ha.
I would look at each hunter's forge card and see what parts you need for a weapon upgrade first. Then, with the parts you have, craft Jagras armour if you can (the speed eating and palico abilities are excellent). Plan upgrade paths and look for overlaps to decide which monsters to kill. In the first instance, another Jagras to get that sweet armour, or assigned Barroth to become more familiar with your hunters and tactics.
Thanks for the play through, really helpful in showcasing the game. This looks more interesting that I expected it to, though the quality control appears to be even worse than usual… not one of my preferred board game companies but might have to take a look at the new campaign after all!
In with you but I love boss battlers and that monsters look awesome! Not to mention the hunters are all unique which is cool! Thanks so much for watching!
@@OneStopCoopShop My son is almost begging me to get this because of those minis, and can't say it's not a big pull factor for me 😂. Two big concerns are whether it just gets repetitive rather quickly without having a narrative to support the campaign like the other big boss battlers, and the time cards seem really arbitrarily random (e.g. a fair few seem to have a 50% chance of a bad thing happening, 50% chance of a good thing happening). Feels rather out of place in a modern game design.
Great playthrough! The best I have seen on the net so far! Can you give a quick talk between Monster Hunter and Primal Awakening? I am guessing that Primal will shine in narratives, but how does the combat compare? Thank you~!
Thanks so much Jefferson! So I have yet to play Primal (Mike played a demo copy I think) so it is really hard for me to compare the two of them. I think the two biggest differences between MH and Primal is no board for Primal, and the primal cards do some sort of chaining I think? I won't find out until I get my copy, then I will let you know!!
I played the demo during TTS (though there will be an updated one with final cards this summer!). I didn't explore any of the crafting. There are three big differences IMO: 1. There's no real board/movement, but just positioning in Primal. They have the 4 sides like here of a monster. 2. MHW is more monster centric. Hunters react to the monster's moves. Primal is the inverse. The monster responds to your attacks. 3. The card play is more intricate in Primal, but there is no stamina board/sharpen system.
No. I have not tried the board game. I couldn’t convince myself to back it. Was a difficult choice. If you need a hunting buddy for the video game, let me know 😂
Oh man, Iceborne is up now, and all the errors have me hesitant to back. I love the MH World/Iceborne and MH Rise/Sunbreak games. This doesn't look too bad overall. I'm on the fence about a campaign being limited by time, but that's because I'm used to being able to farm whichever creature I need parts from endlessly until I feel ready to take on the next tier of challenges. Kulu-ya-ku next! Mr Egg stealing pot smasher!!!
Never played the video games and only watched 10 mins of the movie so far, so dont have a stake in the lore, but the game looks pretty good. Seems to have a lot of downtime figuring out all IF THIS THAN THATs but I guess that is a part of this kind of game.
We've been playing this for the past few months and are on hunt 15 or so. We just killed Diablos and, wow, that's a tough fight!! We are absolutely loving MHW the board game !!!!!! Game of the Year so far for us !! The printing mistakes kinda sucks, but Steamforged is at least reprinting and sending out replacements for free!
At around 38:15 and 41:25 you mention getting four points of poison damage in one turn. In the rulebook (pg 32), it states that the “Status ailment is caused when there is 1 or more tokens of this type in the monster’s status ailment token stash.” So just one of those attacks causes the monster to be poisoned. Poison is described as “The monster loses 2 health at the end of it’s next turn”, so I don’t think two poison attacks will stack, even from two separate hunters. Does this check with you? Or am I interpreting this incorrectly?
@One Stop Co-op Shop considered the new one was hoping the scope was smaller. With Oathsworn, Primal and the rest of ATO on the way I'm sure I shouldn't get another boss battler (I'm saying this to myself btw hahaha)
@@OneStopCoopShop fair enough! This is definitely a video game ya gotta be willing to spend a lot of time with, too. It really looks like the board game is doing a great job of simulating the video game experience. I’m excited to see more of it and hopefully snag a copy when it comes to retail this year!

Nice!! Yeah these models are dying to be painted!! Good luck on your MH campaign and thanks for watching the channel!!

YES crafting and big minis, what more can you ask for! Ignore those terrible time cards that's what! HAHA
I just started my unboxing and Colin's playthrough pop up. What a good timing!!!

game looks very fun, i've seen some playthroughs and can't wait to get my hands on it -) Thanks for the video. Awesome editing and SFX
Appreciate you watching and glad you enjoyed the editing and sfx!
Thank you for all the help. I am trying to start a play through but I was a little confused.
Colin, I love your videos man, you taught me Mage Knight and I’ll be forever grateful! Really hoping you continue this series!
I'm planning on it! I just have some family stuff going on this summer, so less time to record!
@@OneStopCoopShop Enjoy the time with your family, looking forward to the next video

MH veteran AND i got the all in for the game. its FUN AF

Monster hunter veteran here. Just letting you know that they are actually using a light bowgun not blowgun 😊

Kulu-ya-ku next! Mr Egg stealing pot smasher!!!
You can totally do that! There is an adventure mode where you don't limit yourself on time. And heck yeah I want to take that egg smasher down!!
Is possible to cut the ori base plate then replace with transparent base plate?
For sure!
Question: If a hunter may use 2 attack cards, must i resolve this seperately or may i add the attack value for 1 big attack?
Two separate attacks!

Interesting! I actually felt this game is much faster than other boss battlers in that your turns and the boss activations are quick!
Why did Big Bang break the head? There was no break icon on the card.(about 50:00 into the video)
Is there a full campaign series to watch? 🙏 This is the only video I see in the playlist.
I think this is the only play he did
