Important note for anyone considering purchasing: There are two models of the D2. The standard D2, seen here, comes with the somewhat goofy looking remote in the video. The other available model is the D2 Smart, and it's exactly the same in every way but comes with an Android TV puck and a better looking remote. For the $200 extra it costs, you'd probably be better off just getting a 4k Chromecast + Google TV and a universal remote.
Thank for this comparison. I currently have the P2 and am thinking of upgrading to the D2. Question - what screen are you using? I find my colors are washed out and I think it’s because of my screen.
This screen made a HUGE difference for this UST projector. On a side note, I maybe selling everything soon as I'm building a dedicated theater room and will go back to a long throw again. I'm considering using my d2 and p2 as ceiling mounted side screens for a triple screen gaming room (with cheaper drop down screens as ALR screens doesn't work with ust ceiling source). So, you may see this screen on eBay next month or two. ... And if I decide against the 2 additional screens, then the d2 on eBay as well.
Kyle, thanks for the detailed review. I will be the third person to ask here :) what screen are you using? indeed, it is very important for UST projectors. thank you
Yes, with the nvidia shield output at 4k 24-30hz, vs 1080p at 60hz w/o the frame smoothing it was slightly jittery w/o much improvement with image quality (the image did improve substantially if you force youtube to stream 4k image vs 1080p as it has more info to display even with the projector output at 1080p). I am also using an A/V reciever that may upscale it too. However, when watching 4k HDR UHD bluray discs directly connected to the projector it did look better at 4k (especially since both are at 24hz since that is source FPS). P2 and D2 looked similar with a slight edge to D2's image.

Thanks Kyle, I'm stuck going for benq or optoma D2/p2. So can I buy D2, p2 was a discontinued product. And do you think wireless connection is required for short throw?
No wireless is definitely not required. The streaming apps are not as good as a dedicated streaming device like nvidia shield or firestick anyhow, and if you need to upgrade it, you just use a usb flashdrive to bring the file to the projector (but no files to upgrade as of yet for the D2 anyhow)
It can, but you have to have your playback device trigger the D2 you turn 3d on. So likely using 3d Blu-ray disk in a 3d player would work fine. I don't have one, instead, I made iso images of all my 3d disks with my 4k disk drive on my computer. Playback on my PC, or from Kodi on nvidia shield, doesn't trigger it. The P2, on the other hand, has the option to turn on 3d and then select type of 3d format in it's menus.

Yeah you right. Bought D2 and Google Android TV. Perfect picture and brightness peaks on screen
Thanks the direct comparison between p2 and d2 helps, really surprising the brightness of the d2!

Great comparison. Maybe I missed it but you said the D2 4k image on streaming looks similar to a 1080p. Is that the case in the P2 as well?

What clip are you using ?
I just got the D2
John how are you doing with D2? Do you like it? Gonna get one for me
@@rameshpydi6921 yes, I’m really happy with the quality
@@princediesel1 Thanks John. Getting it soon. Projectors not like the TVs. Can't see the demo in store here .
Yup, that's why I made the video, I couldn't find comparisons anywhere and you can't just go to the store and check it out.
So the d2 cant do 3D?
