@@LFPS0311 On every level, your theory fails. 1. Vandal Savage would have had no idea who the Kents were before Clark arrived. The accident happened months before his pod crashed in Kansas by happenstance. 2. It wasn't a mystery who the driver was - people knew his name and identity. Obviously the morticians would know if his body disappeared/started healing. 3. Martha knew the identity of the driver. The Kents knew his name and appearance. But when Savage visits Martha years later, she doesn't recognize him. 4. The drunk-driver just being a drunk-driver is more in line with the philosophy of the epic. The epic is naturalistic and humanist. Tragedy is part of the human experience. 5. Max's Savage isn't the deeply intelligent, suave manipulator seen in DC comics proper. Max's Savage represents the danger of religion in its impact on the human mind. Remember: Joker and Harley are fake crazy. Luthor has serious problems but maintains a rational side. Vandal Savage, on the other hand, is actually, flat-out, Cuckoo-Crazy. So this idea that he orchestrated the Kents losing their child so they could raise Clark is silly. A minute in and I love finding out more about the Kent’s (that splash page in American alien implied a big life before Clark which I love..the whole stuck in smallville from birth to death just wouldn’t fit with the Clark you have made us all fall in love with!!)
Pete is looking more and more like Clark's lifeline to his humanity. During the cartoon JLU, Batman had that job (of sorts) to remind Superman and the rest of the league to be aware that their abilities are not the norm and that surrounding yourself with superheroes only leads to think that humanity is below you. So much so that th cartoon actually forgets about clark and just says Superman is superman and deal. I do like the fact that Pete is somewhat reminding me of the smallville show. The human who would always ask Clark what he was able to do with his powers with the imagination.
