Couple of things I wasn't clear enough about: Superman is the most powerful all-around superhuman figure. Aquaman (in water) is the outright strongest. Wonder-Woman is both the most durable and the most capable fighter. The Flash suit is the fastest thing on the planet, and only Barry Allen knows how to use it. He has no powers on his own, but his intimate knowledge of the flawed but godlike Flash technology is inimitable. Zatanna is the only magical person alive. Manchester Black is Luthor's last line of defense, and Clark insists on fighting him personally to prove a point to Wonder-Woman (and himself, and his dad, and Lois - it's actually a pretty loaded moment). He essentially lets Black take his best shot, tanks it, and then essentially kicks Manchester in the balls and walks away. Clark vomits and nearly has a seizure, but manages to do so off camera, and Manchester is forever terrified of Superman. Wonder-Woman falls for Luthor's bullshit because she has literally no point of reference and he's the richest man alive. The Amazons don't even have guns or electricity, the richest man of a futuristic capitalist utopia would be totally overwhelming for her.
@Uptomyknees, Wouldn't Diana think of the Flash, first, as a Messenger of the Gods, aka Hermes, if Barry works for Lex (seen as a god to Wonder Woman), and he's the fastest being alive, before ever assuming Barry's just a robot? Also, if Lex ever changed his gimmick with Diana, anything but a god, couldn't Barry try the same tactic. "Diana, I'm Hermes, by Hera's Grace, the gods have sent you to free me from this fiend's coil. But, we mustn't alert him to our deception, for it's a demon's game to know..." Both of them complying with Lex, simply to wait for an opening; a vulnerable moment that Lex is too intelligent to ever give, besides his narcissism. So, Flash & Wonder Woman would be left in a purgatory of proceeding to do a mad-man's bidding...
@uptomyknees I don't get your take on Diana. Luthor is the antithesis of Diana. He's literally everything that Amazon stand against: modernity, science, etc. He's a liar and a manipulator. He is the PATRIARCHY embodied. Luthor represents the entire point of Wonder Woman's mission of peace in opposition to the world of 'man'. The last thing she would do is fall for Luthor's BS because everything about him would trigger every innate and trained sense she has to detect FALSEHOOD, greed and malicious intent. All that being said, I always love to hear your take.
@@gldndragon77 The biggest issue is that Lex used their cult beliefs against the Amazon 'civilians'. Yeah, they're insanely strong, but the only person that saw through Lex's bullshit was Hippolyta and she decided to send Diana to what is essentially an alien culture because Hippolyta thought her own daughter should be the next ruler of the Amazon's.
Not gonna lie Max, I truly dig your far out interpretations while still managing to get the core principles of the characters but taking them in a totally new and fun direction. This Kryptonian Epic really has gotten me through some creative blocks, keep it up

It gives you so much insight into these two characters and their dynamic while highlighting just how bad their situation is, while also wrapping it up with a perfect comedic bow that doesn’t just make you want to see more of them, Wonder Woman especially, but easily lets you imagine these characters interactions in this world. Flawless execution.

Dude no lie, I love the kryptonian epic! I've been reading comics now for about 20 years, which is actually how I learned to read, and I've kinda gotten to this place where I've become frustrated with DC and Marvel, and I've started turning to Manga and other indie books to get my kick. American Alien has been the only Superman comic I've ever recommended, and i didn't like the Baneman twist, but i fucking love so much more of these pitches, the Flash premise and powers, the mr freeze, Luther playing on a cults beliefs, amazing.
My main problem with American Alien is the contrivance meeting of other superheroes. Clark just stumbles into every DC superhero before anyone become a superhero
I love how you made Diana basically A Himbo with a heart of gold and then let her grow into Wonder Woman which is Something the first movie did quite well
This reminds me a lot of the early Ultimate Comics universe (Ultimates was all Genetic Engineering is the new Nuke), with Superman: Red Son as a sort of catalyst. Makes for a very branching narrative that actual event comics just CANNOT do. But it's also not stylistically narrow like the MCU where you have to wait until phase 3 to make movies in markedly different genres.
I love Superman: American Alien. After reading that mini-series and listening to these videos, it’s clear you have a really fantastic understanding of Superman. Your take on Superman is extremely unique and compelling. Yet you still absolutely nailed who Clark Kent is at his core. He’s basically just a really great guy from Kansas, trying to do the right thing, while finding his place in the world. Bravo.
I have to say I love to see a line of DC comics based on your ideas. They are fresh takes on these characters that makes me just want to by the whole series and read from start to finish and pass them down for generations. 😁👍🏾
If you teased Doomsday. Good luck trying to one up the Death & Return Of Superman pitch you made. TBH. That single pitch made me a big fan of yours. That and Chronicle. It was so fucking cool. Henshaw being Brainiac is so fucking clever. I seriously would love to see how you would approach Damian Wayne. Since he's my personal favorite Robin and with the ways you've made Batman different and new. I wonder how you would fair with the Son of Batman.

And it's so much to play with characters without having to follow rules of continuity.
I missed the name "Pete Ross" when you were talking about Diana talking to Zatanna and heard "and over the course of about 8 months they fall deeply in love. But that's a story for another time." and I went 'wait did he just.....let me run that back to see if I heard that right.' ^_^
Even as a chemist I find myself nodding at his ideas, but then think 'wait' a minute later. Cool concepts, cannot wait to get my hand on the kryptonian epic in what ever form it come out in. :)
Dude.... nothing gets me hyped for our modern myths more than listening to great story tellers, who care about the characters, do their thing. It's like getting the bits and pieces of George Miller's pitch for his Justice league movie that was scrapped. I even kinda like listening to Zach Snyder's commentary (The only problem with his "take" was Superman, and everything wrong with his movies stems from that I think...). I might not always agree with the interpretation, but I LOVE the passion and creativity. Art is sooo cool!
This technology sounds super duper convoluted, and gives me flashbacks the Oscorp from the Amazing Spiderman movies (the ones with the after-credits scene that shows all the sinister 6 power suits just locked in storage underneath the Oscorp tower).
Yes, it is exactly like that. That would've been a good idea for a Spider-Man Elseworlds, and actually is very close to the actual canon of Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man. Unfortunately that idea was in a trash movie so instinctively "things making sense and being tied back to one common source" feels rote in a superhero story, when in fact in fantasy stories like Lord Of The Rings or Game of Thrones it's actually very common. This is a fantasy story, not a superhero story. Gotham and Metropolis are fantastical made up places. But if people catch up to that, they'll probably be able to guess the ending.
@@Uptomyknees I'm a big fan but, uh... the whole "Oscorp is behind everything" aspect of the Amazing Spiderman movies is (a small) part of what made them bad. Far be it from me to say that you need to rewrite that stuff (since the more important parts are the characters and how they interact, which I like) but it is a lot less interesting for all of these disparate people and powersets to come from essentially the same place. I mean the speedforce is already such a beautifully convenient thing built into the character of the Flash because it's simply this intrinsic aspect of the universe that is unique to DC that allows him (and other characters) to break the laws of physics at will. I would've just built on that more rather than invent a new somewhat nebulous technology patented by Lexcorp. And if you went the route of capitalizing on the unique universal properties of the DC universe (speedforce, the green, the red, etc) then you're allowed to have multiple people from all over the world uncover these properties independently of eachother because that's just what happens in real life. People working in radically different ways converging on the same things but with different agendas and backgrounds just sounds more interesting to me.
@@CoryPchajek I also dislike the implication that the greek gods/mythology aren't real(?) in this interpretation, and that Amazonians just formed a society around some gender-specific super serum. Seems like magical/weird stuff is largely being subdued here, which would be fine if it were replaced with something.
@@B-Roll_Gaming Did he say in the pitch that the gods aren't real?He just said that Lex pretended to be Hercules to trick them, but that doesn't mean the gods aren't real. The gods may just ultimately not care enough to intervene in the exploitation of their followers. I also personally like the aspect of 'one entity brought them together', because what brings them together otherwise? Power and money seem to be major driving points in this universe and it makes for a bit more of an interesting character arc for the characters to be brought in to the story under false pretenses by the guy who has, or wants, to have the most power and money. Lastly, about magic and other sources of power being subdued. I think that this story is trying to be a whole self-contained story. You're meant to be able to go in to it, understand the characters and story, and come out at the end, and its over. I imagine if you went in with the outside understanding of lore there would be things you'd catch that maybe others wouldn't, but ultimately is meant to be able to be understood completely without that decades long catalogue of understanding. In that way, I think condensing some of the aspects into simpler explanations, and reducing the overall 'wackyness' of the universe allows you to cover that stuff fairy quickly, which gives you more time to focus on what seems to matter the most, which are the characters and how they interact with each other. It would be way to obtuse to be introducing all these characters and every time you have to be like 'Well this is The Flash, and he has the magical speed force, and that magic is different from the other magic you've seen, and yadda yadda yadda'. It's much simpler instead to say 'This is The Flash, and he's The Flash becuase of an invention', because you can just throw out random science words at that point, and most people will get it and that part of the story will be understood very quickly.
I think this whole weird material that they’ve been describing is the most fascinating thing in the epic and responsible for all of the stuff in the Epic. it was used to make the Freeze Gun, the Flashpoint Suit, (Maybe) the Metallo Suit and Kiteman. And its also what Bruce used to make the ablative armour, which would also mean it’s responsible for Aquaman and Wonder Woman and all the other weird powers in the epic
Just one thing for when you come to producing this; Manchester black wouldn’t be in prison in Blackpool he’d most likely be in prison in Manchester itself in strange ways as that houses category A offenders

@@Uptomyknees Of course but hear me out. In the story 'Y-The Last Man' we basically see all males wiped out as women inherit the Earth yet, war still occurs, racism is still a thing, and violence doesn't go away it's just practiced differently. My point is that a bunch of magically endowed women suddenly don't lose the aspects of humanity that would make them suspect of their peers, especially when some dude shows up claiming to be divine. An Amazon may not know what an IPOD is but they'd be a little more inclined to toward being able to tell divinity from a hole in the ground. Also, If they are indeed immortal it would that much harder to forget things like deceit especially if the reason they left humanity was linked to how supposedly bad men are when they are in charge. Their culture would still possess philosophy, math, and all the tenets a massive population would possess despite the lack of one of the sexes. The lack of technology could easily be explained as the island simply not having certain resources. It's just always bothered me that Amazons are usually depicted as amazingly gullible despite having come from one of the apex cultures of old. But that can be harder to depict I suppose in the overall story. In either case, it'd be more interesting to me at least if another tact besides Amazons being solely brutes were not always the tact. But from what you've explained from your story whatever I'm saying probably wouldn't gel well in your #Krytonianepic but overall it doesn't sound terrible and it would work.
@@Unworshipediety en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinelese These, but all giant killer women. It exists in real life; they've existed as "brutes" for about 60,000 years. My Amazons have little to do with the historical Amazons, and even less to do with the utopian society generally portrayed by DC. This culture has built inward forever. Have you heard of cargo cults? Research them, they're fascinating. Literally primitive tribes worshipping 20th century tech as gods. I'm not sure I've ever seen the Amazons portrayed as brutes in a DC comic, but to each their own!

Listening to Max pitch an idea is like hearing my best friend in fifth grade retell the story of a movie he saw and liked and couldn’t wait to tell me about.
I can’t believe I just now realized this, but you said LexCorp made 3 of these suits. So we have the Freeze Suit and the Flashpoint Suit. But what is the third suit?!
Like it. Totaly get it being a non batman story even as a batman fan. But get the confusion since the last story was called BATMAN Death Wish which superman showed up at the end. And don't mind a few batman shots. After all even in a superman story some of the best character are batman family, or rouges :) . pretty good video. Any plans to do WWE fantasy bookings again.
So is the Mr Fries and Flash origin stuff set before issue 6 of American Alien? Because that’s when hear about there being a red streak in central city
CORRECT! It's part of the Victor Fries one shot! Technically a "Clark Kent" comic, it's part of what leads to Clark becoming the mural-worthy icon Pete balks at in issue #6!
That said, chronologically, it would be released later, just before Superman: For All Mankind, after BATMAN: Deathwish. Ideally we blur the timeline intentionally so when it's revealed DEATHWISH took place *during* For All Mankind it's an even bigger twist.
@@Uptomyknees Right that makes a lot of sense. I remember you talking about Billy Batson being a Robin at one point as well. Is this also before deathwish or after? Or is that concept just not a thing now?

Anyone else coming back and rewatching everything so they don't feel lost on Max's last big movie thing? 😅
I'm kinda dead to the idea of Wonder Woman being a dum-dum but this story really sounds pretty awesome and you tell it really well.
Calling someone from a different culture a "dum-dum" is a little crass, don't you think?
@@Unworshipediety en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinelese
These, but all giant killer women.
@@Uptomyknees Ah ok, that's a good foundation for an explanation and I'll have to research it when time permits. Thanks for the feedback!
@@Unworshipediety dude cargo cults are wild you're gonna have a ball. there's even some dope youtube videos on them
Hey from Blackpool , 1 hour out of manchester, there is no prison here, but cool idea though :D Loving these pitches , cant wait for the kryptonian epic
this is a very detailed pitch, I wonder watch a animated universe based on this would look like
I love these superhero comic book pitches. Do you think you’ll ever take a crack at Any thing Marvel related? I think you’d probably tell a good story on the fantastic four. I saw your one Q&a pitch about it, and I thought this story would all around be interesting to see have the same light as the kryptonian epic. I understand you’re probably busy as balls, but I just can’t get enough.
I LOVE the choice to make Diana and Pete fall in love. I was on board with WW being a lesbian, but this just sounds iconic lol.
Listening to Max pitch an idea is like hearing my best friend in fifth grade retell the story of a movie he saw and liked and couldn’t wait to tell me about.
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!! THIS MADE MY DAY!!!!!!
This feels very Ultimates. Was that an inspiration?
Very fun. Not at all what I would do but very fun. Thanks dude.
Thank u so much I needed this today
Zach vid brought me here. Huge fan
max after going back to the gym *See this, Superman? real muscle, hard work not some happy accident caused by the earth's yellow sun*
"Stopping this island from existing is a nuclear strike" :(
I can’t believe I just now realized this, but you said LexCorp made 3 of these suits. So we have the Freeze Suit and the Flashpoint Suit. But what is the third suit?!
Should I tell you even though it's available information? Scroll down for spoiler.
.....................
The unfinished weapon, "Metallo."
Killing it, as usual.
I have only one thing to say about this.
"KITTY!"
Gizmo is pure love and i am here for it
Where can I find the starlight emperor
releases next year!
Your version of Batman is one of my favorites.
When you talk about a prototype flash suit I’m now thinking kid flash/reverse flash
I miss the fight between WW and Clark. But i get why it didnt fit editing wise
I love this Wonder Woman, bless her heart.
I love this universe thank you max
Also wouldnt the Amazon hate hercules. Due to all the...unpleasantness
That's his big story!
1:10 both Lupin and Boromir died. Soooooooooooooo…. RIP Diana and Barry.
Not fully sure of whats going on but I love this.
@@thomaspetch995 It's a thing.
What an ace story love me some max Landis
So the armor on batman is basically vibranium?
21:21 I love how "frustrated" you are with Wonder Woman.
So... this is a comic run? When can I buy it?
I love this! This is the next superman red sun!
It's not anything. It's not a comic, or graphic novel or a movie. It's just a pitch idea.
@@Largentina. awww, that's too bad.
@@manofmartin Didn't you watch the video? He says this exact thing in this very video.
@@Largentina. must have missed it. Thanks!
@@manofmartin Yeah, it's just a creative exercise.
Love this!
What made you choose the word 'Epic', is this meant to be Superman's Odyssey, like an epic poem?
Fucking shock second he opens his mouth and started the jazz hands I realised this is the end god damn fairy
This sounds awesome.
Can I get a Dark Trinity?
is the back- up flash suit related to reverse flash
Not quite.
Are all of these stories going to be combined into one movie? It’s probably gonna feel rushed
You'll see.
@@Uptomyknees. All right then keep your secrets
Also, yay for Pete Ross getting an awesome moment
In American Alien, didn’t Clark mention coast city to his parents?
yes!
The post credit scene 🤯
So great
“Narcissism never seen at this level of wealth” lol ok
You simply don't see Bill Gates building fifty foot tall golden statues of himself for distribution at Microsoft Service Centers.
@@Uptomyknees no but you do see Elon musk wrecking his stocks for epic reddit clout. Also you really think Bill Gates or Jeff bezos don’t have extravagant idols to themselves? Maybe not gold statues, but something less tacky. What lex has more than other billionaires isn’t narcissism, but garish taste
Imagine if Elon Musk wanted to be viewed as Jay Z, Pablo Picasso and Martin Luther King and would literally murder anyone who got in the way of him perfecting this image.
Did Barry kill anyone in the food court when he destroyed it with his Flash suit?
When are we going to see this
Literally never.
Isn’t Billy batson the new Robin?
Batson's in it, yeah. Very little ancient egyptian magic in that kid.
@@Uptomyknees is wally west the other Robin? I really hope he gets to be in the universe...
So what happened to Manchester Black?
I'm hoping we'll get Hal Jordan too.
Why Blackpool?
Man, I would hate to go back to Blackpool. That place sucks.
0:33 sure Max… sure…
Do Dirk season 3 next!
