Gotta say really enjoy the very good vids you produce very in-depth and really helpfull I have a 2013 z1000 which is pretty much identical yours so really is perfect for me to take iPad to garage and do the work I need to next job which you have already covered is new chain and sprockets many thanks and keep up all the good work you do

Nice video, thanks. I have stretched and had to repalce one of the pinch bolts for the chain adjustment. 64Nm does seem high. However, I will still be aiming close to 64Nm because I've heard multiple reports of the adjusters slipping when using lower (
Cheers man, I personally found that trying to achieve the factory torque I was going to strip / break something. I have had 2 ZX's and the figure used worked for me I made sure I regularly checked for slip and that my chain didn't go out of adjustment. But I take your point it would be better to get as close to the figure as possible.
@@TheSussexBiker I got new bolts to the Kawasaki spec and they are rated to 63Nm. Not good! I go to about 60Nm and haven't had slippage yet.

Really helpful tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to share this. Awesome. I have the Versys 1k with a main stand. Manual says when checking chain tension to put it on the side stand. I've often wondered if this is to test with the swing arm under a bit of load. I notice you check slack with the back wheel off ground. Do you find its important to do one or the other....or is it bike specific ? Thanks again...hope you are enjoying the new BMW - Cheers
Thanks for watching :). Yes you are correct the chain slack should be checked with the weight of the bike on the ground and on the side stand. Although the back wheel is off the ground the bike is on a paddock stand on the rear swing-arm,so the weight is still on the bike if you see what I mean. I found it easier to do it this way for cleaning and lubing and any adjustment if required. I did check once when it was back on the ground and the slack was still good and within spec (I always used to go for 25mm to 30mm).
I am enjoying the BMW very much and look forward to the time I can get back out :)
