Love how informative this video was without some long drawn out explanation. Straight to the point and I like that you included the different laptop keyboard as well :)
I'll never look at my keyboard the same way. Hope there is a graphic somewhere with the up or down orientation of the keys, This keyboard is a nice piece of engineering.
Poured coffee over my keyboard and the keys got sticky. This was extremely helpful for taking it apart and back together, thank you so much! Works like a charm.
Sorry for the late answer! I used a slightly damp cloth (just a tiny bit warm water) to get some of it off and then some Q-Tips with isopropyl alcohol for all the little nooks and crannies.
thanks, one of the hooks were already broken for mine which made it hard to put back together but now my keys aren't sticky. The techniques are really helpful as well.
Good video for proper Key caps removal, thanks. However as you've said the plastic Clips at 6:53 are very fragile and doesn't pop out that easily as in your video. I tried on my A1644 to remove it and two plastic holders at the bottom of the clip just bent a little bit. Now the Clip is not that firm when placed back therefore the key is loose too.
Excellent video, clear and well explained. The keyboard I'm using to write now is the extended 110 keys version with a cable. I hope I can repair the "L" key, is a bit hard to push on its right side and looks inclined. How to remove the space bar?
Excellent video, very helpful! My issue: magic keyboard (A1644) - left shift and "cue" keys not sticking, but not working - removed keycaps and plastic "underkey" - no obvious dirt, but blowing out didn't fix - pushing rubber button doesn't work either - need new buttons, or some way to clean those? (Appear to be glued on, how to remove without destroying or damaging what it's stuck to?)
IF YOU HAVE STICKY KEYS just spill a few drops of isopropilic alcohol on the key that is stuck or sticky, and press it repeatedly until you feel is loosen up, repeat the process if it doesn't solve the problem on the first time.
Why does this cleaning need done so often? It seems to be one key after another. Even after removing the spacebar key (not fun) and cleaning well, it sticks again after a couple weeks. You can buy (3) Logitech keyboards for the price of (1) Magic keyboard. Not a fan of all this trouble for a keyboard that is cared for.
I have lost keys from 9, o, l , . That means All the keys to the right from these keys doesn't work. I did clean the keyboard, used windows polish ( Yes I know Damn damn that cat :x) So question is. can I get all the way down under, to maybe be able to clean the switch underneed the key parts, so it can do it's thing Thanks for informative info ;)
Nice video but I won't be trying to do that on my A2450 green magic keyboard that I got with my iMac since removing the key caps looks a bit scary to me..........

By far the most instructive video I’ve seen on this!
Thanks for the video. It answers my questions before attempting my clean.

How do you know which keys to take from bottom or top?
Very helpful! Thanks for keeping it simple. Going to try to clean the sticky keys on my wide magic keyboard now.
Congratulations! You explained it very well.

Did you use a liquid cleaner of some type once you pulled it off? If so, what dud you use? I have to do the same with my soccer bar.

Good directions. Thank you. BTW more helpful if we know which keys are forward or reversed. Can you provide that?
You're the first video in like 30 i've watched that actually shows in detail how to remove and replace the mechanism under the cap. Thank you so much
Thank you I found this helpful. I have repaired Mac keyboard before, but you can never be sure that things are the same.
thanks, one of the hooks were already broken for mine which made it hard to put back together but now my keys aren't sticky. The techniques are really helpful as well.

😫
I did this once without seeing a video and then i couldnt put the key back in and now that key which i took out before sounds very funny
I'm finding the spacebar hard to remove. I don't want to press the edges too much for fear of snapping it...
what should I do when I break the metal hook under the key
Gotta love the ASUS N53SV
Thanks for sharing!
