About the Magic Mouse and I have thought it’s weird but when you think it about it having a rechargeable battery constantly being charged will destroy it. The battery lasts for awhile and it’s not a big deal to charge it
It quite simply is a case of "much ado about nothing". Apple claims ~1month (6 to 8 hours daily use). It is exceedingly unlikely any mouse will ever be used 24/7. Do these naysayers not sleep or shower? Now whether the design is ergonomic or not is an altogether different matter...
I have a solution for that Apple mouse. Buy a Logitech mouse. The idea that Apple doesn’t want customers to leave it plugged in doesn’t add up when the trackpad and keyboard can stay plugged in.
I think the magic mouse is incredible. What device do you know that can be charged for three minutes and then deliver a full day of use? Nobody uses the magic mouse 24 hours a day. When the magic mouse user needs to sleep that's a perfect time to plug-in the magic mouse. Yes I am upgrading my lightning port devices to USB-C versions to complete my transition from Lightning to USB-C.
Any change to the key switches or feeling of the keys? The full size Touch ID keyboard has a WAY better type feel than the compact one, I think because they’re using slightly different key switches. I was hoping they’d update the switches on compact one, since I greatly prefer the ergonomics of the compact keyboard but the superior switches on the full size one (I have the black version).
@@RAGordy I have the Satechi keyboard w/ black (backlit) keys as well. Matches the Apple aesthetics perfectly...if it only had Touchid it would be a chefs kiss.
Thanks for showing these! Can you use the keyboard Touch ID with an M series MacBook Pro/Air when in clamshell mode (screen is closed)? I’ve heard that it only worked when the Touch ID of the laptop is available (screen open) for Security reasons?
I updated to both the keyboard and the trackpad and received them today. The trackpad didn't work with my 2017 iMac for some strange reason. It wouldn't scroll or able to click on anything, but the cursor moved around the screen just fine. Strange. Either it was broken or not compatible with my older iMac. Since my older mac keyboard and trackpad work fine, I'll just stick with them for when my new Mac Mini M4 Pro comes in next week. :)
With Apple pushing wireless charging/MagSafe so much, I'm kind of surprised Apple hasn't bothered making a wireless mouse that wirelessly charges from a mousepad. Basically an Apple version of the Logitech G PowerPlay.
I almost forgot I bought a Magic Mouse ages ago and stopped using it because of this charging connector design glitch. Of course Apple could design it for charging and use at the same time. I have conference calls that I can not fail on with the excuse that my mouse needs a rest charging...LOL. This is really an idiotic issue. So I am use the Magic Trackpad and always keep it connected. It's awesome and I don't miss the mouse.
Solution -> induction charging when not using with intelligent / smart learning that’s also on the iPhone to learn your personal usage to maximize battery life. Apple already has all of this.
The Touch ID with intel verdict is still questionable. Apple did list Intel models on the compatibility page and technically the Intel models listed do have Apple Silicon in the T2 chip. The old lightning version worked also on the Intel models with the T2 chip so I assume with them still being listed on the compatible models section this would still be true.
They need to start selling the iMac colour matched ones separately too. Some people with the colour matched lightning ones may wish to change to USB-C but can’t unless they want a mismatch.
I'm still driving the AA battery Magic Mouse. No stupid belly port (and dust trap), fast full charge (always have spare rechargeables), when the batteries die just swap them. Apple can have my money when they put a backlight in the keyboard.
Why do you need to use the Magic Mouse plug in? Well, for anyone who would love it to use that way, may I know why? coz you just need to charge it for 5-10 min max and it lasts a week. Its battery life is insane.
my battery power magic mouse is still working today. I don't think the rechargeable battery will last this long. all in all still a horrible shape for a mouse imho
Its about time. Should have been done a long time ago. Also the magic mouse really needs a change in design. Its not comfortable if you're using it for productivity, 8+ hours a day.
FYI: I got a black USB-C mouse and connected it to my Studio running Sonoma. The advanced features-even scrolling-do not function! I chatted with AppleCare and was informed I would have to update my machine to Sequoia. As I have already ordered a mini M4 Pro, I will just wait till that one arrives next Friday.
No.. they did not place the charge port under to protect your battery. Keeping it plugged in is not damaging for modern devices. They have chips that control the charge level automatically. It would cut power once charged. Please dont spread incorrect facts.. My Macbook has been plugged in for over 4 years constantly, and it works fine. Sure, the battery will age and degrade due to having it constantly at 100% (normal wear regardless of charging style), but it doesn't damage it. I also have an old iphone used as a dedicated media player for my speaker dock and that has been on the charger for even longer and it works fine. I do think you are correct about the use. They just dont want people to keep it plugged in while using it. Its not their ergonomic style they're aiming for. Also it creates buzz in the internet too so marketing would love it.
The solution to the Apple Mouse is MX Master 3 or 3S for Mac. And don’t get me started on the keyboard. No backlight in 2024 is pointless. At least the could have sorted all the problems. But no here have USB-C.
It's crazy that they haven't changed the Magic Mouse. It's an ergonomic nightmare that no person doing serious work should be using. I'm glad to see the Magic Keyboard updated, but not having a black no-number-pad version is just dumb. Number pads are useless to almost everyone, so the default for their "Pro" line should be the smaller version in black. They don't make a single laptop with white keycaps, so it's not going to match any of them. Apple is massively dropping the ball. Their new peripherals are a bad update, the new iPad mini is an awful update, the new AirPod Max headphones are a failure as well. It's such a strange thing to see, since people would obviously love to see actual upgrades after this many years of stagnancy.
The magic mouse is the worst mouse ever, I've switch to the Logi MX 3 Master great mouse. My trackpad and keyboard no update at this time, Apples accessories are overpriced so I can continue to use my Lighting versions till they need to be replaced, they don't need to be charged that often so no big deal to use Lighting cord.
@@productivity_tipz When it dies after several months of use in which you haven’t charged it once (and apparently ignored all the low charge warnings for a couple of days), you charge it for 5 minutes -the time it takes you to take a needed break to get a fresh cup of coffee and go to the bathroom. When you come back there is enough charge to finish the rest of your days work. And then you of course remember to charge it over night so you won't have to think about it for the next couple of months. It's seriously not a problem.
No it doesn’t need to be fixed, if you are too lazy to charge it for an hour then you shouldn’t have it, it’s not a big deal!! Do you use it 24 hours a day? I highly highly doubt it!!!!
Don't need to fix what isn't broken. If you happen to ignore all the low battery warnings, plug it in and go take a piss or get a snack. You'll be able to finish the day when you get back.
I definitely agree with the theory that apple purposely kept the charging port that way because they don't want it to be used wired. that would damage their image, i imagine.
If they cared about things being plugged in all the time, why not put the port on the magic track pad and keyboard on the underside? The mouse is a dumb design and Apple is too full of itself to admit it and change it.
Simple: don’t buy apple’s mouse. Buy a real mouse. Once it has asserted its dominance over you Mac, go grab a not logitech mouse and keyboard set and save your money towards the storage upgrade Apple hasn’t touched since…….. oh. Ohhhhhhhh.
Same old thing except USB-C. No change plugging the mouse under , so brilliant 🙄. No backlight keyboard. Nothing new her, move on 😏. No buys for me here.

Still no compact magic keyboard with black keys...
i wish apple made different color keyboard/trackpads than the boring white/black
They do for the iMac only sadly
No keyboard backlight? I think not. That sucks.
Thanks for no annoying overhyped obnoxious background EDM music the whole video. Good to just hear clear dialogue.

Just about every other mouse on earth requires almost zero effort. The Logitech M570, for example, lasts about 18 months on a single AA battery.

I would have loved to be able to buy Mouse AND Trackpad in color with the M4 iMac :(
Is there a way to buy color matching mouse or the keyboard or the USB C cables without buying the iMac?
Are any of the keyboards backlit? I am amazed how much I need that feature.
The Microsoft surface has a back lit keyboard
@ I I have the Satechi keyboard. Backlit and perfect.
Nope. If you don't mind the lack of touchID, I'd recommend a Keychron.
@@RAGordy I have the Satechi keyboard w/ black (backlit) keys as well. Matches the Apple aesthetics perfectly...if it only had Touchid it would be a chefs kiss.
I bought the keyboard last year with the fingerprint sensor. Expensive but worth it. Wish it were Bluetooth.
Wireless charging with the mouse would work wonders, make a huge wireless charging mouse pad and put Qi 2 wireless charging on the mouse.

The lack of backlit keys on the keyboard is heartbreaking.

@@davidjacobs6244 yes, really. For those prices they should be able to put a couple LED lights in there.

Same. Add some Better Touch Tool to the mix and BAM! Unstoppable
wow your video is so good i can see your contact lenses. what camera are you using.
Apple just phoned it in on all the releases this week.

Grateful to the Universe that USB-C exists
Apple is really not delivering this year. They couldn’t event drop 5 M4 machines to complete a M-F release schedule.
Thanks. And I think it’s absolutely nuts that they put the charging port on the bottom of the mouse.
It’s a non issue for most people.
