Food are the most important part of travel, but it is also great to know about the ingredients, how to cook, and how locals proud of them not only taste them in restaurants 😋😋 Thank you Marko for the great video!!😘
Kaixo Donostiatik! A ze poza zuek berriz ere hemen ikustea! Hello from Donostia, it's so nice to see you've come back! As always, I've loved the video for all the details you give. I really appreciate the fact that you make an effort to show Basque culture, because we are quite small and unknown, and I'm sure this video helps to show our beautiful country and language to the world. Thank you so much, mila esker!!😊
It would have been great to mention that Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre, founder of the luxury fashion house Balenciaga was also from Getaria, the Balenciaga museum is in Getaria too. Greetings from Zarautz ;)
Molecular gastronomy is SO cool. I teach a bit of the basics in my high school class :) Shouldn't have watched this before dinner though! So hungry now!
wow what an experience, galicia and the basque country look so beautiful and lush what a coastline cant wait for the next videos, is griffon your brother
A very wonderful inviting and exciting video ! Who is that wonderful young man, Griffin, with the light hair that is your American buddy there for the cooking school? He's super cool, but sounds like a Californian,,, not that there's anything WRONG with that ! I'm happy you had him along for this trip. My guess is that he's already a chef or soon-to-be chef friend of yours. Also, very nice to see you brothers traveling with other folks, not glued to each other as brothers out exploring the world, each other on his own.
Wow, I was just there. If I would have known I would have taken the class. Thanks for the video Marko. Your previous videos were a great guide to the city.
Fantastic documentary about food experiences in Donostia, appreciate it. I suposed to be there this Easter Holiday, but plans changed. Anyway, after seeing your video, I know I have more idea of sights to visit and restaurants to do not miss out, thank you!
Mad! I just got into your videos this March, when I was in San Sebastián. Went to Getaria and all those places as well. Weird to think you might have been near!
The Basque Country was isolated throughout history and while other cultures had a big influence in the rest of the peninsula, the Basque Country wasn't as influenced. As a result we have a drastically different history, gastronomy, language and mentality.
Irene Kortaberria Basques were always in the same boat as the rest of Spain (they were Romans, shorter but they were), they were Visigoths (shorter but they were), they were part of the reconquest both in Navarre and Castile and they were explorers and conquistadors like the rest of Castile during the times of the empire. Spanish language is the result of adding Basque to Latin and the first speakers of Spanish were Basques (Cantabria, Burgos and the Basque Country), in fact the kingdom of Castile, the unifying power of Spain, the crafter of the empire was founded by Basques. Spanish language is not just native to Basques, it was born among Basques, Basque Castilians, I could go deeper into linguistics if you want. Basque gastronomy is not different, it’s simply traditionally better, it’s the place for food but the type of food is the same as the area around them. And I don’t know what you mean by Basque mentality exactly, I have Basque friends and the mentality is not something you spot as a difference. Basque culture is not drastically different from the rest of Spain, the Basque Country has its regional peculiarities like every region in the country and every region in every European country, nothing more, it’s not drastically different.
Looking forward to seeing yo guys in Sevilla and see how you introduce the city! I'm from Madrid but Seville is (in my opinion) the most charming spanish city I have ever been to. Ps: fantastic job guys, one of the worthiest youtube channels on the internet 😊👍
basque life is also hard work, industry, and labour oriented as well as sport oriented people, food and enjoyement comes after a hard work week, something these videos usually take for granted
Love it a few of your Videos fit right into my Amateur Jai alai Project here in the US. Love it Thank you . Would love to have you guys join our Facebook Private Page for the Jai alai, I think you would enjoy it.
Basque people are humble? Could have fooled me. Probably one of the most proud people I have lived among. I mean they aren't proud in a bad way, it is in a good way but calling them humble probably isn't the right word.
Kontuz ibili …….gutxi barru urrezko danborra jaso ta betiko Ñoñostiarrak izendatuko zaituztegu !!! je je ……… Lan ederra beti bezala ! Agurrak Euskal Herritik !!!
Marco it is beautiful but lately ive heard that even children are racist in those places, for example in bilbao , so even if a non white can afford this it is not very nice .
I don't know where you heard that. Basque country is a very cosmopolitan area in Spain, with many tourists and lately foreign residents living a very peaceful life. Quality of live standards in Basque Country are very high and social welfare is very developed to help those in need, especially those who come from less developed countries. I would say it is a good example of integration of people from different societies and classes.

Can someone explain what makes Basque Country so different from the rest of Spain?
Thanks!
Check out our series from the Basque Country - the first video explains it all pretty thoroughly and concisely. bit.ly/BASQUECOUNTRYSERIES

Am I the only one wondering who the blonde surfer dude is???
That's Griffin! He's a close friend of ours for many years. He's the best!
Marco it is beautiful but lately ive heard that even children are racist in those places, for example in bilbao , so even if a non white can afford this it is not very nice .

all good, but you should really put something on your heads, a hair in your food is a total deal breaker
