    Excellent instructions. I am only used to turning into the attacker, good to see another option. I can see how much it helps to root, drop your center of gravity, and keep good posture as you use leverage and rotation to increase the power.
    The ‘flowing with the force’ you mentioned is also a wing chun saying, “take what comes, follow what goes, strike through on loss of contact.” I’ll bet many martial arts have a similar concept.
    Now on to watch more vids.

Thanks, just subscribed. Could you show us chokes that are similar to the Ezekiel choke. Maybe ones that can be used when the opponent is in full mount on top of you? Thanks

    Love your videos. I like what you are doing in the video and plan on adding it but I have a suggestion for an add in or another way that I teach for the technique/situation you are working. Once you establish your base, you can peal off two fingers and establish a fulcrum with your thumb and turn into him with a finger lock. Their body will be the base for the elbow and allow the finger lock to work. Once you have turned toward them with the finger lock you can work other small circle jujitsu or other techniques.

  • @brentr926

    Great techniques! Coming from a more strike-based background, my initial instinct would be to elbow and heel stomp backward, but that will probably get you choked out these days :)

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  7 лет назад +5

      It may work, but it might make things worse too. I think at least blending strikes with the techniques I demonstrate in this video is a good idea. I am just showing the structural elements that are a little more reliable than strikes alone, especially when striking an opponent who is already holding you from behind. My opinion.

You need to grab in self defense, no lobbyist working with congress for self defense rights with your fists. Plus your dreaming a nightmare if you think yuoll strike out of a choke pal. take a jujitsu class real eye opener.

    Thanks for this. *Question* - A friend of mine, who is about eight or nine inches taller than I am, once came up behind me wrapped his arm around my throat, pulled back, and lifted me off the ground. If I had seen your video (or trained in jiu jitsu) and had concentrated on trying to drop my body weight down and forward (even though my feet were a few inches off the ground at the time), would the second technique you show here have worked?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 лет назад +1

      Timing is everything. If you recognize and react early and appropriately, then yes, this technique can work on someone even that size. I teach this to the kids classes and I easily have that much size on most all of them, and I can get them to a level that they can do this on me with some resistance.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  7 лет назад

      It’s very hard to reach his head from that position. As for doing it without using my hands, there would be a lot of pressure on the neck. You need to pull that choking arm down as much as possible as soon as possible.

    Hi, when you train do your muscles memory instantly work your movement or does your brain have to think about the move you are about to perform? the reason I ask is because no matter how many times I drill moves sometimes I still have to think about what move I will do, i.e if I do a double leg take down and end up in side control there are so many moves to do that I often hesitate or forget which one is best suited, of course in a real world fight you do not get that thinking time. Basically is your BJJ now just instinctive? another question, how long do you think of not training would it take for you to forget what you already know? thanks.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  7 лет назад +2

      +bob nice I think thats a great question. I think every move can become instinctive for everyone...but different people will assimilate it into muscle memory at different rates. I’m not at all a natural at Jiu-Jitsu or much of anything, so it tends to take me a lot more training to get remotely instinctive at a move. And it needs to be as automatic as possible, but many techniques will buy you a small amount of thinking time for recall of specific details. And the great thing about Jiu-Jitsu is the tactile nature and gross motor mechanics of most the moves accelerate this process. In my opinion.

    Also would this work if the behind person is shorter ?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  4 года назад

      The leverage is good enough to do this to someone bigger. Every technique has a limit, but these are able to be performed on bigger people. As for the person in the back being shorter, if they can reach you to choke you, they are tall enough for the technique to work

      HEY I CAN HELP YOU THERE . WHEN A PERSON IS GOING THROUGH YOUR ARMS PUT BOTH YOUR HANDS UP LIKE YOU ARE COVERING YOUR EARS. THEN BRING BOTH HANDS DOWN TO YOUR SIDES TRAPPING HIS HANDS. THEN TAKE YOUR LEFT HAND GRAB HIS FINGERS AND SNAKE YOUR RIGHT HAND UNDER HIS HAND AND WRAP IT AROUND YOUR WRIST NOW PUSH PULL DOWN AND TO THE RIGHT . FROM THERE TAKE YOUR RIGHT HAND GO UNDER AND AROUND HIS HAND MAKING SURE YOUR THUMB GOES BETWEEN HIS THUMB AND HAND AND YOUR HAND GOES OVER THE TOP GRABBING THE PINKY SIDE EDGE.
      NOW TAKE YOUR RIGHT LEG SPIN ALL THE WAY ( AROUND INTO HIM MAKE SURE YOUR NOT STANDING WITH YOUR LEGS TOGETHER THE RIGHT LEG IS IN BACK .) YOUR RIGHT ELBOW HITTING HIM THEN WITH YOUR LEFT HAND GRABBING THE INSIDE OF HIS RIGHT ELBOW (NOW YOU HAVE A NIKKEA) FROM THERE THERES MANY WAYS TO GO
      THAT MY FRIEND IS HOW YOU GET OUT OF A FULL NELSON

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  5 лет назад +1

      The security?....not sure what you mean.
      But if the person has the size and time to be able to do that then they are probably going to choke you and there’s not much you can do about it. These are the best options for possible defense though.

      It doesn't change. The only difference it might make is to allow him to follow and regain his posture on the turn. If that happens, you can switch it back to the second technique (the forward throw) since he will then be leaning into you.

    Question - what if the attackers knee is deep between your legs and is much taller making it difficult to drop into base?
    Ossss

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 лет назад

      Thank you!
      As for your question, I expect the attacker’s knee will be between your legs as that is what provides the leverage for them to pull you back and apply the choke.
      However, this shouldn’t structurally affect one’s ability to get into base unless the attacker is extremely tall or large - like twice the size of the defender. In which case, it is highly unlikely that they will be able to successfully defend themselves against someone that size. But with enough refinement of the technique, someone can give away a substantial amount of size. But no defense is perfect.

      @KnightJiuJitsu  5 лет назад +1

      Holding your breath won't help. If anything, it will make you pass out faster. If its a clean strangle, then it shouldn't be as much about constricting the airway, but about the arteries.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 лет назад

      This is similar to a one arm throw like Ippon Seionagi in Judo, but the big difference is the positioning of the opponent’s arm because the attack places it around your neck. For that reason I would say, no, you shouldn’t attempt to drop to a knee or knees because it will create a hanging effect.
