    I just bought these for my 2015 Taurus Police Interceptor and wow, a huge improvement over the brightest Sylvania Halogens. I appreciate how the LEDS can be aimed to reduce shadows. My headlights are always aimed at the stock level and these with the cutoff, have not had anyone flash me yet in a month of ownership. Thanks for the great video.

    Something to consider about distance, Hikari promotes their thunder as having more distance, while the hyperstar is brighter, but shorter throwing distance. It would be nice to test these in the dual-beam setup such as 9012 to see how it handles dim/bright in one bulb.

    I have these LEDs, but I hated the friction collar. Over time the friction doesn’t hold and the bulbs just free spin. I got tired of always having to readjust my lights and replaced them with the Sealigjt Scoparc S2S’s and wow what a difference. For $40 those lights are brighter, have a better beam pattern, and best of all of a locking collar.

    I am wondering what is the performance differences between this 2022 Hikari HyperStar than the 2024 Hikari HyperStar that stated for 40,000lm with 2024 New Acme-X LED chips? I am asking because the rated 40,000lm sure is higher than the 30,000lm on the much more expansive 2023 Future Titanova and with A.I.O. design it is very attractive.

    Thanks for all your effort and hard work! What would be your top recommendation for a 4500k or similar color temp light on a reflector housing? I’m leaning toward the DDM Saber V2’s but the nearly $200 dollar price tag seems a bit expensive. The only thing holding me back is that it has no high beams, I called DDM and asked if they were going to produce a 4500k kit with high beams and they said it was unlikely that they would. What are your thoughts? Thanks again! 🍻

    • @CarLightReviews
      @CarLightReviews  2 года назад +1

      4500k LED lights are much less common than the 6000k-6500k versions. DDM are GREAT lights, I really like them myself. I honestly don't have a good suggestion other than that, and I know it doesn't help with your high beam issue. What sizes do you need?

      @@jd-vm9qs I did some digging and I struck out. You may be forced to go with a halogen high beam, and a 4500k LED low beam. I still think that for the money, the DDM is a very good light. I am currently running it in one of my vehicles ever since I tested it here: ruclips.net/video/Bpa7KwJ262A/видео.html
      Since I am mentioning halogen...do you think doing a shootout of halogen lights would be beneficial?

    • @jd-vm9qs
      @jd-vm9qs 2 года назад

      No worries, I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy with DDM’s 4500k Saber V2’s despite not having a high beam. I have been running a McCulloch HID kit for probably over 10 years. It was when HID kits were new to the market. They put out a crappy light in my halogen housing and visibility is piss poor. I do have to give those lights props though, they still work and I’ve never had a blown out bulb. It seems LED’s are finally to the point to where they would actually make a huge improvement in comparison to halogen bulbs. I just hope that they will work well with my reflector headlights. As far as testing out different halogen bulbs, in my case I think it might not benefit me because I’m going LED regardless. But who knows, there might be some people interested in that? Thanks again Jason for the response! You sir are the man! 🍻

    This is the latest video I could find from you, with an 'all-in-one' design. Is there a specific all-in-one that you would recommend? I'm in a 2014 Hyundai Azera with HALOGEN projectors *eye roll* I thought that projectors were strictly for HID's but I was surprised when I pulled a Halogen out of there. So now I'm stuck with a very bad light output with very small options to upgrade, because I was told that Halogen Projector's aren't the same as HID Projectors, and risk melting if using too high of a wattage. I am also restricted on what type of LED's I can use, because of the 'cap' that's on the back of the housing, creating a seal, so that my headlights don't get cloudy/filled with water. All this being said, I'm afraid all these separate controllers that keep the heat away from the LED's, won't fit with my cap on. I'd have to tuck them inside my housing and they'd be sliding around in there. So I'm stuck with an 'all-in-one' design. Finally, I'll need to find an all-in-one that is small enough to fit in that housing with the cap installed. Any suggestions? lol...

      Here's what I can suggest, take a look at carlightreviews.com/headlightspecs and pay attention to the line items that do not have an external driver. That should help you narrow down which ones will work for you, and you can compare the numbers as well.

    Totally lost. I'm currently running these in H7 in some Alpha Rex Pro headlights in F150, watched your GTR Ultra (what I'm contemplating to switch to), but lux were very similar. Really trying to get some more light down road. I've adjusted housing up, but am afraid of blinding others. Still feel like I'm missing 15-20' of road with lights on..

      @@RPCTVPhilippines Yes, it i he brightest that I have tested so far. But as I often mention, it may be TO bright and can overpower your light housing and scatter. If the cutoff is bad or you can’t aim them accurately or the light output scatters, it is NOT safe to use. Try a different style of LED or one with a lower output that will be more compatible with your light housing.

    I'm actually impressed by the heat management and the percentage retained. Peak brightness doesn't mean a thing if it can't retain a large percentage of that brightness after 5-10 minutes. The non-locking collar is a huge downside though.

    • @CarLightReviews
      @CarLightReviews  2 года назад

      Agreed. I see the friction-fit style collar on many LED lights, some that have been on the market for a long time. So, even though I am afraid they would vibrate loose or out of position...doesn't seem to be a big problem. Not that I have seen anyway.

      @@davidschlesinger8244 You won't find one that doesn't reduce over time, not with current offerings anyway. When I am testing, the instant I flip the power on and take the picture, the numbers start dropping and continue until they level off, usually before 27 minutes for most decent lights. The Bevinsee V45 is much brighter after 27 minutes, despite it having a lower light retention number.

      Here's a question to consider... How would video of driving at night help you decide if this was a good light for the money?

    • @florantegalamgam2231
      @florantegalamgam2231 2 года назад

      It is called real world actual test.
      It doesnt mean if it is good at flat wall it is good at let say tarmac, gravel, asphalt. Just my 50 cents.

    • @CarLightReviews
      @CarLightReviews  2 года назад +3

      @@florantegalamgam2231 I understand where you are coming from. My test environment, however basic, is much more consistent than the false expectation of comparing MY tarmac, gravel, and asphalt conditions to YOUR tarmac, gravel, asphalt conditions. They are not the same, and that's not even considering ambient light like street lights, moonlight, starlight, fog or moisture in the air which can change everything.
      Any video that shows lighting road tests at night using a camera (which still cannot compare to the human eye or even the basic lux sensor that I use) as '"real world" is misleading. It is unfairly assuming that you have the same exact camera and environment conditions that they have, every time you drive. Under certain conditions and camera settings, I can make even a keychain flashlight appear as bright as the sun.
      That is why I made this channel and why I am very specific about the using the exact same conditions for my tests...every test, every time, using the exact same equipment settings and environment. That way, you can see actual "real world" data on how each light compares to each other, and compared to halogen. Actual DATA tells the story. Someone's highly variable camera output does not.
      If you are simply buying on brand name or someones "road tests", you don't have the full story. Again, actual DATA tells the truth.
