Though not a lady, I did have a chuckle as the ease of this. I'll have to give it a try for some upcoming birthdays. Perhaps some free motion quilting too, ya never know. Your videos are awesome, keep up the good work.
I made this quilt as a baby quilt for a friend's new great grandbaby. It was fast, and easy to put together quickly. I am a new quilter and make mistakes all the time, but this one was really easy and it was a big hit.
I want to thank you Jenny for teaching me what so many library books couldn't!! I finally know how to quilt because of you!! I want to visit your town and thank you some day!
Chris Tong Right?! I've been a seamstress for decades but I've always been afraid to make a quilt. I remember a few disasters in trying and have only dreamed of quilting. Until now. ... Jenny makes me BELIEVE I can so I'm working on Two. One is a baby blanket with felted wool from sweaters and the other is for my granddaughter from batiks I'm using her "Round the park" linstructions and (lll)ll)lllll)lllll)( I'm using this method AND her "super easy baby binding " method and others to finish them!lllll Always reminding myself her words of encouragement. ..Finished is better than perfect and her amazing, touching lesson in what we quilters leave our loved ones in her periwinkle tutorial (check that one out!) Thank you Jenny! !!!! iillnllllllll
Hi Jenny! You have by far the best quilting videos online! You take time but don't waste time with a lot of frivolous yakking about nothing. Your videos are so enjoyable to watch and learn from!
Love this technique. Since my cat lays of every project I make,my sample quilt was pink flannels. It was so easy and now Moody has her own blanket on my sewing table.
+Ellen Hofer Such a good idea. All three of my poochies sit on the window sill along the edge of my table on old towels. I shall make a pink runner to match my sewing room for them to snuggle up on. :)
Tracy Bell, thank you. Moody always goes right to her quilt and curls up. She can see me, and look out the window. Of course after, and even during construction, she does have to lay on everything I make. lol
I've wanted to try quilting for a long time, and now, after watching Jenny's tutorials i've finally tried it, my first was advent calendars for my great grandkids( I'm 65) and yay,, they looked great,(all 6 of them) now attempting a bigger project,a baby quilt, another great grandchild due in spring..wish me luck....and thank you Jenny.
I just made my first quilt, an "I-Spy" quilt for my son using a disappearing 9 patch and your quilt as you go method. It came together very quickly and looks great. Thanks for your tutorial.....you are a great teacher!
Thank you for this video. Yesterday at my quilt group one of the ladies brought in a twin size applique quilted this way. This method allowed her to do her own quilting, it was awesome.
OMG, I am new to quilting and I had no idea this could be done. I can see endless possibilities. Thank you so very much. I don’t feel so overwhelmed now.
I have some cute pastels and a really cute Easter print. I hope to make this table runner with some placemats for my table this Easter. Thank you for this tutorial. I love learning all of these nice projects.
Just love your helps and ideas. I think I might spray baste the backing to the batting so no shifting occurs. Having an all over backing helps hide any "mishaps" especially for the first few you do. Great way to quilt in a hurry.
I am a new quilter and love watching your tutorials. I have learn so much. This one was great I had wondered about making a baby quilt this way and this really opened up a whole new world of quilting for me. Thank you for sharing Jenny.
I think this is a good way to use scraps. I make clothes, however I do use a lot of quilting fabrics. Although i've never made a quilt! I think I'm going to do this project as a way to use my scraps. It seems nice and simple for a beginning quilter like me!
Ditto Tammy, I am new too and I can't wait to try Quilt as you go!!! Thank you Jenny so much. I get so excited every time I watch your tutorial's. Cheers from Down Under... Fran
Im from Germany; I love your tutorials !!! Thank you for speaking not to fast, so I can understand you pretty good. You`re really embolden me to go on with quilting and trying different things. Thanks so much, Ina
I just bought a Quilt as you go kit for a table runner and now I understand the method this is so easy for someone that is leaning how to quilt small items like me.
I've made this quilt many times but I start with my first strip in the center and piece one side and then the other...that way there's never more than half the quilt under the throat.
So glad your video is here. You talk about what's necessary that relates to the project and not unnecessary chatting. I have 3 days to make 15 mini mini quilts and definitely will use this technique!
Could you also use this with strips of joined charms? I'm thinking you could start with a row of joined charms, a solid strip, a charm strip, solid strip, etc. I think that would be really cute. You could also cut varying widths of the solid strips if you want to change it up a little. Solids could be one color or many colors, depending on the look you want.
I love this quilt as you go method. I have not made my first quilt yet but I have the material and I think everything I need. I am going to make a twin sized John Deere themed quilt for my 4 year old grandson so I am watching and reading as much as I can before I start. My 4 yr old decided which fabric he wanted for the backing and he picked the same one I had in mind. I want this to be kind of wild because its for a small child. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
+Sally Schilling Hi Sally, I too have tons of scraps and some squares that I have appliqued, I too wonder the same thing and if Jenny could possibly do a tutorial for us that have the same question (as this is now the third one I have come across); sure hope she reads these and finds time or a way to show us if this can be done :)
as long as your pattern is in rows and has cross seams that line up from block to block, just attach the rows to the batting and backing as if it were a giant strip. When you've got all your rows attached, you can stitch lengthwise between the blocks (or at an angle if you're doing some sort of diamonds). Just try not to start in the middle of nowhere, which would require you to fasten the end rather than just running off the edge which will be covered by the binding
Just what I have been looking for to transition from raggy quilts to "real" quilts. I am a beginner and learning quilting online, so this is exactly the tutorial I needed! Thank you for taking the time to make these tutorials.
I've been spending my Sunday morning having a wonder around RUclips for some help in improving my quilting skills. Can't believe how many times I keep coming back to these tutorials - LOVE THEM!
I'm on my 3rd baby quilt using this tutorial. I love how easy it is and the instructions are so clear. Thank you for launching me into quilting. God bless you & the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

Thanks again for the great tutorial on quilt as u go! I need these videos to refresh my sewing skills..so many new techniques are now available since I began sewing 50 years ago...I lack confidence, so I am grateful for Jenny's presentations!
I love this Missouri Quilting, I'm a lifetime sewer, but also a farmer, so have very little time to go to quilting classes, so this is an excellent tool for people like me. I'm not close too any large city, so unable to join any quilting clubs or any type scheduled classes. Not possible, so I truly appreciate this being on line o learn from. Thank You Pat Dowell Gentry.
wow !! i've never done a quilt , but i do crochet, knit , scrapbooking, etc... but this is the first time i seen such a wonderful person like you ,doing a tutorial on how to do a quilt that easy .. thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial soon i will go to your web to shop see you soon
Wow, I just realized that this is what I can do with the huge pile of matching flannel fabrics in soft pinks/white/light blue/etc. I’ve made two baby quilts with these fabrics and had lots of extra fabric this last time around. I wasn’t sure what to do with them since making quilts with flannel is hard because they don’t make it easy to keep the seams straight. But this will solve that problem. Yeah!! Thanks, Jenny!!
Jenny, I think I've watched all your videos! I am a beginner taking classes at my local husqvarna dealer, but I wanted to go armed with multitudes of ideas. You surely gave them to me! I am hooked and loving it. Thanks for your openness and friendliness during the videos - you are AWESOME!
Hi there! You left a comment on my blog asking for a copy of my beaded spider's web bead pattern... I would love to email you a copy, but I do not have your email address.
Just found your videos and love them. UK based and mostly used to hexagon patchwork quilts which feel like they take a lifetime to make. Jenny, you've inspired me so much and opened up a whole new world of quick quilting. Thanks so much
LOVED IT!! I am new to quilting or I should say piecing. But now after watching this great tutorial I will "Quilt" my first table runner. Thank you so much for all your great tutorials.
I am so glad I found this tutorial. I love "quilt as you go," and also love doing table runners and placemats. I can see myself making alot of christmas gifts using this technique. Thank you Jenny. Keep up the good work.
Jenny, you are tops! You have inspired me no end, encouraging me to develop such a love for quilt making - just a beginner I learn something new from you each time, and you make it all seem so simple! A huge thank you! Joy
I want to take the time to say Thank You very much for all the help, I have learned so much from you. Please keep going I enjoy all that you do I watch ever one more then one time and as I make a guilt I watch you.
I love your videos! I have learned SO much from you. As a new quilter, I have many questions and watching your videos answers many of them for me!!! Love, LOVE your videos, thank you and keep them coming!
I love this. I have a baby shower at church tonight that I had gotten the date mixed up and was going to have to go BUY a gift because I didn't have time to make her a quilt .....but now I can still give her something handmade. Thank you once again for a great idea!
This is genius! Perfect for us beginners who aren't really sure about how to quilt all of our pieces together or aren't confident enough to do fancy shapes and all that. Although the straight lines are so simple, it still looks amazing :D
What fantastic tutorials, tips, tricks & treats! I have learned so much in just a few days, watching & "liking" as many of your vids as possible. My grandmother & aunts were quilters, and grandmother passed when I was a very young child. I want to say thanks for the tutorial on quilting as you go method -- I just bought a pattern advertised in a quilting magazine that uses this method, so I now am better prepared to start it!
I've been wanting to learn how to piece quilts, but thought i would start out with something small and simple. this is so perfect for what i had in mind to get me motivated and started. I see Christmas presents!!! Thanks!
Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials. You are concise, efficient, and always pleasant. I am a brand new quilter and in just a few months you have guided me through many, many different projects. I always recommend you to anyone who is interested in quilting. THANK YOU!
Brilliant tutorial. what a great idea for using spare pieces of material as well as quilt as you go. You explain things so well. Can@t wait for the next video.
I love all your tutorials. I had never quilted before watching your tutorials. I am ready now to finish binding my first baby quilt. It has been so much fun. Thank you so much for all your amazing tutorials. God Bless you.
Thank you so much! This is a great way to use up those ends of fat quarters or jelly rolls that I always have left in my scrap bin! I'm make sets of 4 matching pot holders this way - laying strips the long way, then cutting the resulting strip into four squares, then binding them. They turn out so pretty! And so fast!
I love this, I started sewing at the age of 20 and I am a person who like to see a finished project when I get up from the sewing machine. But we all know a quilt don't always go together that fast, I think I will dig thru my fabric and make me a fast project. Thanks Love you tutorials.
I recently 'rescued' an unfinished quilt from a second hand shop and it has been quilted in the "quilt as you go" method. I wondered how it had been done and this has described the method perfectly. Finishing the quilt is the next item on my quilting agenda.
Hello Jenny, I just love your tutorials. Thank you for sharing. You inspire me to try every new project I see you work on even though I am not a skilled quilter. I especially love the way you present. You make it such fun and it all seems so easy.
Though not a lady, I did have a chuckle as the ease of this. I'll have to give it a try for some upcoming birthdays. Perhaps some free motion quilting too, ya never know.
Your videos are awesome, keep up the good work.

I recently 'rescued' an unfinished quilt from a second hand shop and it has been quilted in the "quilt as you go" method. I wondered how it had been done and this has described the method perfectly. Finishing the quilt is the next item on my quilting agenda.
Awesome! Missouri Quilt Company on You Tube has the best tutorials for quilting. Love, love, love!!
I am new to quilting. I do enjoy your tutorials and these give me the courage to try it. It turned out to be wonderful. Thanks Jenny.
Wow, I am awestruck. It's a week till Christmas and, guess what my sister-in-law is getting for her table... Thank you so much.
Hello Jenny, I just love your tutorials. Thank you for sharing. You inspire me to try every new project I see you work on even though I am not a skilled quilter. I especially love the way you present. You make it such fun and it all seems so easy.
