One of my friends had a 1992 Accord that my mom sold to him for $500 before it got junked a year later. He now has a 2010 Accord given to him from his uncle
The 8th gen V6 automatic did not have true VTEC. The VTEC secondary lobe was used exclusively for VCM to save gas mileage. It also did not have any variable cam phasing (none of the J series do, not even the current ones) so this was essentially an 80s old tech engine. Also, the automatic lacked the variable path intake that the manual transmission versions had. Bottom line is that the auto V6 8th generation is quite sluggish off the line. If you're looking for a used V6 accord automatic, stick with the 9th generation as it has a more powerful V6, 1 extra gear, and true VTEC to reap the benefits of low end torque.
oldtwins na Well I personally own an 8th gen V6 automatic coupe and it is very good off the line. Sure a 6 speed is better but I still get plenty of wheel spin if I want to. It is in no way sluggish. Very torqy as well.
This used to be an Acura TL, but to compete in US market with Camry with V6s they had to bring this model down. So technically the Accord didn't grow, it's just people are driving an Acura instead. The current US made TL is just ugly as hell
What kind of idiot buys an SUV when you can buy a cars so safe that has literally ZERO people have died in them like the current Subaru Legacy and current Audi A4. Source:IIHS.
@TangoR34 This model was only the Tl/Inspire from 2007... they did the model refresh that year... You are wrong about why they brought it down here... Since 2003 they have called the TL the accord ! The inspire was always 1 year ahead of the next tl or accord Gen to come For the US
Give him respect. He's been on Motorweek since it started in 1981. Even though he's getting older, he's been a great host for the show and narrator for the road tests

I've had 4 cars so far and they've all been accords, nothing can beat the practicality and reliability of these things

@zarniax5x5 competes with Camry and Altima....
It's the same engine as in the Accord anyway.
