I've had luck with the T45 tensioner screw by taking a new torx bit, like a 3/8 drive socket bit, and cutting it as short as possible, and grinding the end dead flat so the torx teeth go right to the tip. Plus, if it's as short as possible it's less likely to twist out of alignment with the fastener as you torque on it. I grind one, use it, and put it away so it keeps sharp teeth for the next tensioner.
Man I hate that T45 tensioner screw so much. Previous owner stripped mine out and I had to drill it out, through the wheel well. It is way too shallow and the bit doesn't go in as far as it really needs to
FCP sells a Gates timing belt that is blue in color some kind of upgrade. I been to 2 stolen cats here at home, I learn my lesson just put a straight pipe and good enough until the money light inspection. Nice tip on the vice grips that torx is a bear.
Nautic blue metallic was the prettiest Volvo color in my eyes! Is this S70 a 1998, noticed it had a mechanical throttle cable, not the Italian made ETM?
Correct. I own both types 98 and 00 s70. If you have the etm slap a xemodex upgrade on it now. Not a question of if by when. Ntm throttle etm response is holy crap level. I found I needed new struts after I did mine. Went with s60 rims with shorter tires to avoid the reaction light from coming on every time. Lost u turning radius but gained hella grip. More rubber in the road. Weeeeeeee. Lol
@@RobertDIY I was one of the dummies who bought a 2000 V70 Cross Country and didn't know about that Italian ETM problem until it hit about 72,000 miles. Paid through the teeth on that dealer repair!
@@brianklamer3328 I got a 2000 V70R a few months ago, there's a lot to do, but man I love the car. One of the things I have to do is get a new contactless throttle sensor and replace it
Have your traction control rebuilt on exchange. Roberts got a video. The even send you the reverse torx. 3 mini bolts from top one with 2 long extension from underneath. You'll risk stripping if not from underneath.
That s70 looks great!
it is nice.
Crazy how fast things rust out with using water as coolant!
Yes sir.

Good idea. I was thinking about doing that with my old used driver.
@@RobertDIY They do sell torx that are very small, Amazon has a set!
Great Volvo. My favorite is the S80 v8 awd
Those are good.

I've stripped one before.

Love your videos @RobertDIY !
Thanks for watching
If you had not jacked up the engine, would it have been impossible to remove all the water pump bolts?
Makes it easier.
but that's a brilliant trick with the vice grips on the washer!
thanks.

In the USA, they didn't use the ETM until '99.

How many tools should I take with me on a road trip?
Considering 0 ing out the 00 s70. I leave the timing belt for you.... Lol.
