- This is in Kharader, one of the oldest parts of Karachi where I grew up - and so did the founder of Pakistan (M Ali Jinah). At PKR16.00 (USD0.20) this is surely one of the cheapest burgers in the world. A lot of people in my family and friends, including me, believe this may also be the tastiest burger in the world.
The patty is made of potato and vegetables, then dipped in battered egg and pan fried in vegetable oil. It's then put in a traditional bread with sauces made of yogurt and mint, and lots of onions. Mostly healthy stuff except for the oil, but not the most hygienic in the world :)
I have seen this stall sell exactly the same burger since I was five (1970). As kids, we used to buy from the old man who died a few years ago, but his son has taken the family business to another level by taking up a small room behind the stall which can seat up to 10 people. He sells an estimated 2000 burgers a day!

a trained chef of 10 years i can say some of the best food in the world is cooked liked this in the street and eaten with the hands if these patrons got the shits they wouldnt be in business would they. Also have some respect for other cultures just because we have lost ours in the west its no right to offend others who have not.

***** Allowing patrons to eat right next to the preparation areas, handling money and returning to the food without washing hands, not to mention their whole preparation table was a complete mess. It's a golden rule of food service, always clean as you go. They put people's food on that filthy table that probably hadn't been washed all day and properly sanitized in god only knows how long.

I watched this since many years back but still find it interesting to watch. This burger really blow my mind.
Loved the food streets in Pakistan when I travelled there last year. The Kachoris, Samosas, and even the ''Anda'' (Egg) Burger from a very similar stall like the video above were tasty as all hell. I look forward to going back there again.

Nowadays many of these burgers are very cheap and bad quality where they fill it with daal tikki (not using meat or using meat in very small quantity). It doesn't have to be unhygienic. The same food can be made properly.

It's not bacteria or immune system, it's just the type of food and ingredients. If you eat burgers and sugary cereal every day you're digestion goes at a rate that is required, if you move to Pakistan and eat this then the different food needs to be dealt with differently from beef and corn syrup. Sure this stuff doesn't have all the preservatives and additives that supposedly make "white people food" superior but it's handmade and cooked fresh, it doesn't sit in a cold shelf for 5 days wrapped in nutritious plastic.

to settle this ridiculous squabble: of course, this place is a bastion for all sorts of potential food borne illnesses; however, if you are from this part of the world your system is undoubtedly accustomed and acclimated to this type of gastronomic debauchery and you'll be able to handle it...if you're a westerner, prepare to be parked near a toilet for the next couple of days and sip plenty of fluids....preferably purified water (gatorade or some kind of electrolyte replenisher).

Doubtful. If you compare food poisoning in the US compared to countries that have food stands like this, US has a much higher rate of food poisoning at public places than this. It actually has to do with the chemicals everything is drenched in to "clean" it and all the processed crap we call food. When you cook at home do you wear s hair net and gloved and soak everything in "sterilizing" chemicals? I've never been to Pakistan, or the middle east/south east asia but I love trying new foods. Honestly, this looks damn good to me! People who are critical of this are just being ignorant. Food doesn't need to be fine dining to be good. A lot of the times street vendors and "holes in the walls" have WAY more flavour than your average Bar and Grill type restaurant.

people complaining about the health and hygiene - there's a degree of hypocrisy to the criticism - many western fast foods and for that matter, even normal everyday foods like sugar, bread, rice, wheat are often unhealthy due to the insulin spikes that they cause. Sure the video shows greasy food being prepared but at least they're using fresh eggs and bread, potatoes, onions, mint - pretty decent for a meal especially in poor countries like Pakistan. If you are that concerned about health and hygiene, please look into the way you cook your own food - kitchens, food handling, utensils etc.

I think only criticize would not help, and I understand in poor countries like pakistan government close both eyes on hygienic standards because people could not afford food safety courses and the encessary equipment.That happened also in Italy a century and a half ago. But , if you help such sellers to improve the standards they could give to the world excellent food that is part of a culture. They put bones and brains of animals inside the burgers. No, really! Look it up! The chicken nuggets are made out of bones,brains, eyes and other useless and unedible parts of the chicken. The melt it, add colouring, additives, salt and god knows what nuclear chemical they put in there. Then they make it little ball like shapes (nuggets) and they deep fry that melted shit. I mean JESUS! And you get fatter 5x faster eating that shit than eating one normal burger!

Ive been a fry cook since I was 14 years old (now 34) and I have to say that this guy has an economy of movement and rhythm that is very impressive.Its not an easy job and a truly good fry cook takes many years of training and experience.
Streetfood is the only food where its allowed to overcook eggs and still make it taste good. I like it, wish I could taste more of it, but I can't...

People are complaining about food poisoning, but Indian people who eat this food a lot aren't affected. My parents, when they go back to India and eat this food, they don't get sick and love it. But me, being born in Canada and hardly visiting India gets sick easily.
yep, the people have a better immune and digestive system because this is the quality their body is used to.
it takes time for your stomach to adjust it. When I moved to US, it tooks me a week to adjust the food in US.

Anyone with any sense of street food knows how good this actually is. When you you say stuff like "this looks like crap compared to our street food" or "look how dirty it is", you just look hateful and jealous. Something intimidates you about this.
