Steve Jobs seriously, I’d understand if he was some poor schmuck forced to work for the mafia for a pittance, but Rosetti is a captain, he runs his own crew and a portion or New York. He’s successful, he’s just greedy and wants more.
Rosetti doesn’t realize that he is the source of his own misery. He’s psychotic behavior, abrasiveness and wrath makes friendship and love impossible. He’s surrounded by suck ups and who only respect him due to his power and ability to provide them with money.
If he went to therapy he’d be a regular Tony Soprano This is as close as he ever got to trying to understand his problems When he says “make me want things” he almost said it like it’s a burden, that he doesn’t want this greed or lust for power, but he can’t help himself due to his business, or due to his own cracked mental state
Honestly I think it has a lot to do with his up bringing back in Italy. Like he said before he died he came off the boat with nothing and a lot of this show is about people being a product of their family background and and environment plus dealing with consequences of their life choices. He was an amazing character in general, but this scene was a tortured soul just asking to be happy, just begging to have something in his life worth living for.
