GUNNAMATTA Salmon Fishing with Metal Lures | Catch & Cook

Winter fishing in Victoria can be a bit slow, however it is the time of year the Australian Salmon fire up. We headed to Gunnamatta surf beach early in the morning and threw some metal lures around, and they were on! Did a bit of a catch and cook to show you guys how I go about cooking Aussie Salmon

Thanks for the cooking tips. I’ve been fishing Gunna for many years, never liked the mushy bland taste, but your tips sound good. I’ll give it another try. Personally I like oily fish like slimy mackerel, so maybe the basting with olive oil is the key. Cheers! Happy times. They were biting last night

Glad you showed yourself cooking it. I grew up eating salmon as a kid, there are better fish but there is nothing wrong with it.

My mother used to make us up salmon as meat and potato fritters which we had with sauce, HP or Tomato (BBQ wasn't a thing back then).

Hey mate. I have gone fishing there 100 + times as I live at gunna. I’ve used the exact same setup as you And I’ve gone on high tide in winter but I never have any luck. Any advice on what you look for gutter wise and stuff like that. I can never seem to find the school. Cheers bro. Loved this video

In terms of gutters the fish tend to hang out on the edge of them, not in the middle. But honestly when lure fishing I literally walk and cast till I find them. Most the time just comes down to luck. The schools were in thick numbers those couple of weeks so that helped. Most days I only pick up a fish or two.

Havnt tried but would be amazing I rekn. Key is to not overcook and dry it out especially with the high heat of charcoal

@@AdzFishing true charcoal would be much hotter maybe go indirect but still get a bit of smoke on them.
I plan on heading out fishing soon and I only have charcoal BBQs and smokers at home.
