The old Australian salmon, or as they call it in NZ, kahawai. Josh, you mentioned that they are crazy strong fighters... that is literally what kahawai translates too "kaha" = strong, "wai" = water, Kahawai = strong in the water. Tight lines mate! Keep the content coming.

Nice vid mate, pitty no tailor but the salmon are a good fight so lots of fun. I'm interested in the Hardrocker BB - it seems like a versatile rod that could be used in a number of environments. Can you recall whether you were using the ML (4-10lb), the MH (6-12 lb), or the H (8-16lb)? Cheers

My girlfriend lives 10 minutes walk from the beaches AND fresh water fishing spots. I might have to invest in a 2nd saltwater rod/reel set up when I'm moved to AU. I could see myself taking a walk with a hand full of these single-hook diamond jigs. (we call them diamond jigs as an umbrella term over here)

Nice catch on the beach, Josh! How do you like the rod BTW? I was thinking of buying the 8 foot 6 model for shore jigging and spinning metals, but couldn't check it out in the store due to lockdown. I wonder if you can share your experience with it so far? Thanks.

    Great video Josh.
I guarantee I’m more amateur than you, but I was taught to run a second split ring on singles. It allows more of a swivelling action on the hook and stops them levering the hook out on those jumps. I also often run assists up on the tow point. It doesn’t affect the lure in any way but I do get 50% of hook ups taken on those assists.

Tops on fishing Josh but you and the majority of fisherman release fish the wrong way. I’ve been fishing the beaches for 45 years and I have a degree in marine science I wish I was fishing on the beach beside you it doesn’t take much more time to release fish this way. When releasing fish on the beach You should not throw them in the water this practice can cause them to go in to shock and die. You should place them in the water it doesn’t take much longer to do this. Regards. Laurie from Vic. Tight lines.
