@@robtaylorshotwater Thank you for putting the video on. That's bucket list stuff l dream about. Not much like that in Melbourne . Only Australian Salmon off the beach and small species like Kg Whiting, Trevally, Flathead and under sized pinkys from the jetty.
You know you've had a good day fishing...when your mate says to you- You don't want this one do you? Nah mate, she's yours! Never heard of or seen drone casting before...interesting. Thanks for showing this. All the best for 2024.
It was a magic day mate but pulling those tuna in from 400m means no-one wanted to grab the rod again lol! It’s probably the only way to get those tuna off the beach using a drone as they swim parallel with the beach out of casting range. It’s good fun. Thanks very much for watching. Happy New Year
@@robtaylorshotwater...Thanks for replying, mate...this episode has the 100% wow factor. Yes, I'm hearing you on the drone/and why. I think "ol mate" mentioned there some structure 300/400 meters out from that particular area! Tight lines and good fishing for 2024. Cheers.
Gday rob with the pvc rod holders it’s a good idea to put a 6mm stainless bolt through the pipe to stop having your reel mount sitting on the pipe avoids damage to the reel. I have mine down about 12 inches. Cheers for the video.
Glad you liked the vid mate. We fish up in the dunes mainly for elevation which keeps the lines above the waves and cars etc on the beach. Plus it saves getting wet feet….
Have been hanging out for this since the short , a bit disappointed about the use of the drone though 😁 but getting a livie out there is always a challenge. Great stuff 😎 when are you guys going to build better rod holders for the sand?
Thanks for watching mate. Need to get the baits way out past the outside bank so it’s drone or paddle lol. We do need to upgrade the DIY rod holders though lol!
@@robtaylorshotwater how far after the first bank ? Could you slide a live Taylor? In safa land the boys swim the first chanel and then cast from the bank and slide livies but I'm not a fan of toothy critters.
@@andrewoelofsen940 almost another 200m past the first bank. You could paddle a yak out to get baits out that far but swell would be a factor. Bugger swimming them given the amount of sharks Mitch catches lol
300 meters is pretty conservative. Do you use sinking braid? , just wondering what one would expect for the actual position of the bait in the water column to be
Hey mate - it’s approx 300 to 400 metres to the outer bank where the tuna cruise along the beach. I might have underestimated the 300m lol. You’ve got a keen eye for detail. That outer bank is only a few metres deep so pinning the mullet in the tail forces them to swim up which puts them about mid water or right in the tuna’s path….hopefully. Thanks for watching
We call them bluefish in the States, but whatever you call them blues or Taylor’s they are a blast to catch especially on a lure. Beach fishing in Australia is a bucket list item for me, but probably not going to happen. Oh well, A man can dream……….thanks. Yellowfin tuna from the beach? C’mon.
