@@user-qe5st7if2h I don't dance but I have good combos if you dance, 3-4 turns, illusion, while foot is in the air drop down into split formation then add floorwork, front walkover backhand spring then b-twist/ any flip
Im shook i thought that this skill required a very high flexibilty level and lots of experiance but this video Mađe it so easy! Im so excited although my illusion is not at a professinal level i am still super super excited you tutorials are great and i cant wait to see whatt tutorials you upload in the future🤗🤗
I was a baton twirler, so maybe illusions were different for us, but I was taught to NEVER step out of them, that the leg that goes up, does not touch the ground until it can reach the spot it started from. We were supposed to end the illusion in the exact same position that we started. Maybe it is different because we had a baton in the air that we had to catch so stepping out would impair our ability to catch the illusion, and often we would do 2 illusions in a row or an illusion to an aerial, both things you cannot no if you step out early. We were also taught to NEVER touch the ground. We would have points taken if we touched the ground so when we were first learning, they didn't want us to develop bad habits, so we didn't touch the ground. If anyone is interested in learning more about how baton twirlers do illusions and what that looks like, Michelle C Smith (who is a former World Champion) has a great tutorial on her page.
@@SuperMrsMar I've also done illusions that way before, but I believe this video is more for beginners to illusions. At my studio, we called them easy and hard illusions (easy was hands allowed and can step out, like in the video, hard was the version you mentioned) both are illusions, just for different levels of difficulty!
I swear, she pivoted with her foot and all of a sudden, the secrets of the multiverse were unravelled. It was like finding the last piece of the puzzle.
I just started with modern/jazz lessons and I just can't do this without an angle in my leg. I am definately going to watch all your video's, would love to get better at dancing and to get more flexible!
So I'm assuming you're working on your needle!I got my needle by hanging on to something (I used a chair) with one hand and with the other grab your foot, then try to hold your knee with your other hand then pull towards your head. You need to have your split in order to do a needle. Thank you
I am a beginner in dance l have been dancing from 4 months in quarantine as a hobby but l have come to love doing it a lot and l feel like it's a way for me to connect with my soul and l am a self-taught dancer l really want to learn tricks like the illusion but l am scared of hurting myself so can you please give some advice please reply
I’d say make sure you’re stretched before doing this, practice two hands down the one then none, and if your leg needs to be lower to be straight do that, don’t make it high and bent! I recently connected this with a backhand spring and it looks really cool, so keep practicing
Ok so im at the advanced one.... But my leg that goes up always bends😭😭 I think its because my Flexibility isnt where it used to be, so im working on that
I mean... it's more of a jazz step. Jazz tends to be more turned in. She used a turned in tendu a la seconde. It fits. She didn't sickle or anything, so idk why it would be wrong.
you DO understand that an Illusion is an upper intermediate/advanced acro/gymnastic skill? Teaching it as anything but, is irresponsible as a dance/gym instructor and opens you up to lawsuits for injury by anyone following your instruction at a lower level as recommended by you that might injure themselves. really, you ought to do alittle more training before trying to teach things, especially recommending skills to people at a lower level. You are really opening yourself up to lawsuits. you begin in a parellel tendue, but then step into a turned out position? Really? then after you do your "pivot" you rock back onto your heel and lift your toes off the floor? WHAAAATTTT (Your heel only lowers when you finish the skill)!!!! YOU ARE GOING TO BLOW PEOPLES KNEES OUT!!!! Also, an Illusion pivots from side to side, not back to front. The chest should always maintain alignment with the thight and the eyes should maintain focus (spot) with the floor throughout the rotation before refocusing upward as you raise the chest. you should recover in the completely erect postion to the opposite side, with the head over the shoulders and the foot under the hips and then finish the pivote of the body while ion an erect posittion at the end of the first complete illusion, before beginning the execution of the second/third/etc. your technique is lacking if you ever want to do more than a single illusion.
Merry Christmas to anyone who sees this! Also nice tutorial

Awesome!!!🙃
Happy new year. I did it.
I've seen some people do the illusion turn twice. How do you do that? I love your videos btw
Once you land the first illusion you swing your foot back again onto the next illusion
I feel on my knees, crashed into my bed, and then made that suppressed scream noise all while rocking back and fourth.
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄 🎅🏻 ☺️
I did this in my contemp solo last year
And I’m tryna do it better so that’s why I’m here lol

Thank you for the video but sadly I can't do it on because my leg is broken 😭

I have weak legs and bad balance, but i have nice flexibility. I always fall, still working for it! Wish me luck!
while doing an illusion one time, i knocked down my moms pot of plants.
my mom made me find the exact same pot in the garden store and repot the plant
Ok I have a question if I were to do this same thing but turn the opposite way would it still be correct or not?
This is and you are so so lovely💗 Infinite love and gratitude to and for you🌸😙🙆🏽♀️🎈☀️💞
What are good stretches for illusions?
I would recommend just practing your penche which helps
Hamstring stretches for the supporting leg and quad ones for the leg you’re swinging around
I got my illusion
How do you do a split leap
Step 1 : be flexible
