    Wow, I was just in my beginner class on Tuesday (thrown into the combination, haha) and had to do this- confused the HECK out of me; this is such a great breakdown, can't wait to practice these on my own! (and now I know what they're called!) I'm probably not experienced enough to do the later exercises, but the barre ones look about right for my level (3 weeks, haha) Thank you!

    Your student is lovely! She improved so much in this lesson. For the finishing polish, I would recommend she keep both knees straight (but not too hyperextended) for the entire duration of the chainnes, and also I believe if she would think of "not travelling" on these turns it would help her keep her heels closer together. My personal preference on chainnes is to use bras bas, "tu-tu" bras bas, or Russian first for the arms, for a better balanced appearance. I feel that English or Balanchine first is a little too high in chainne. Beautiful work!

    • @AudreeAdam
      @AudreeAdam 5 лет назад +5

      more extension maybe, but hyperextension is not something you can develop. You can be hyper, hypo or between the two, which is basically normal (although being hyperextended is the new normal it seems)

    In my opinion, the left arm,as girl steps onto chaine, should not whip but be more rounded, in order to avoid being thrown off center.Also,the nose, during the chaine must lower a little.

    Is your coaching style Vaganova or Ballanchinian? You do realize that Balanchine invented ballet?

    • @esstown
      @esstown 5 лет назад

      Going to guess and say Claudia's lovely style is RAD (Royal Academy of Dance, based in England?) I also love Balanchine (American, adapted by George Balanchine from the Russian style) and Vaganova (most popular Russian style). I think one of the french Kings, could it have been Louis the 14th.....hired someone to create a dance that was okay for kings, and so he invented the basic ballet positions, somewhat stolen from Italian folk dance. Maybe 400 years ago? Help me out here.....does anyone know? I think the poor guy was beheaded for saying the King was too fat to dance......the very beginning of what's known as "toxic thinness culture" - laughing right out loud now! Thinking that Russian stole it soon after that, made it their own, then George Balanchine created the American (Balanchine) style with some modernizations of the Russian style at the time.
