Can The Little Honda Navi HANDLE A Passenger?!

  • I may be biased...but I think this might be the best Honda Navi two-up review that will ever exist. We REALLY put this thing through the ringer! We ended up putting in about 20 miles of EVERYTHING you could imagine- neighborhood cruising, downtown side streets, a 50mph highway, we even took this thing OFF-ROAD! Yes, ALL with a pillion on the back!
    To us, the results of our test were clear...but what do you think? Can the Honda Navi REALLY handle a passenger?

    So, I just watched the whole video. I know the 2 up had to be a little different, but I am 6’5” 250lbs . I basically am both of you in one body. I would not give up my navi for anything right now. I use it to ride back and fourth to work. Luckily the highest speed limit for me is 45. It’s 17 miles each way, and I love my commute now. I am loving your videos BTW keep ‘em coming! More with both of you. You both are great together!

    With a lot of experience in riding a carburated scooter the tip to achieve better time on speed is not to pin the throttle fully. Have the throttle gradually increase along with the speed. I have tested these things its better to try them out. Have fun. Great content.

    Your video reminds me of me and my wife. We have a 2022 Rebel 1100. We ride it together. Combined we way 510lbs. Well over the weight limit of 348lbs. But it doesn't bottom out, no issues riding no rubbing. We love it

      @LifeOfBurch  2 года назад +1

      That’s awesome to hear it can do that! I’m always curious where the weight limit comes from in the first place, whether it’s based off the suspension, power, etc. I bet you guys would LOVE the Burly Brand suspension though! It’s the best thing we’ve done for passenger comfort. It’s way more comfortable and handles way better than the stock set up!

    I appreciate the video! A lot of Navi reviews are from the perspective of a single guy doing a short commute but your video truly does put the bike through its paces. I’m still looking at getting one but spending a couple grand more gets me a used Suzuki :/

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  Год назад +5

      Happy to help dude! Honestly, if you’re on the fence (and could reasonably spend the extra money), I’d say go with whichever Suzuki you’re talking about! My girlfriend and I LOVE the Navi still…but as a secondary, errand running, around town fun-haver. If you’re looking to have one bike and one bike only, I’d go with something more capable. Just my two cents!

    Got stranded and my dad's car was also broken down at the time. He had a scooter as kind of a fun vehicle and picked me up in it. Two ,six foot tall dudes and about 220 lbs a piece from Mayo Road to Ridgely Ave, during rush hour on a 50cc (half your displacement). Couldn't have been worse circumstances. You feel absolutely every pebble on these little things. Fully understand your girl's perspective. The Navi as a single rider looks like a complete carefree blast though.

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  2 года назад +1

      That sounds absolutely terrible, but picturing that is hilarious! 😂😂😂 The Navi is for sure better with just one rider, but even still Nina and I were cruising around the neighborhood on it yesterday. We just keep it to roads with lower speed limits and we’re good…ish 😅😂

    People my parents at the age of 57 and 50 went on their honda navi which was fully loaded to leh and ladakh. The machine was fully loaded and mot just clothes but puncture kits and extra petrol. And they went the whole way without a hitch. Its a great machine which will never give up. Then made it to Khardungla the highest motorable road on it. So its not a question about whether it can but whether you can or not.

    Two-up should be a lot more doable once you get your first carb adjustment in. From what I can see from other reviews on it, the factory tune is really rich, potentially to help break in. Obviously beyond that, there's only so much you can do with that tiny suspension travel and the mushy brakes, haha.

    Honda were originally planning on releasing a bigger version of the navi with a 125cc (or 150cc?) motor that might actually able hold another passenger comfortably. They probably ended up not doing it because it didn't sell well in india.
    Honestly, i don't know why honda decided to make a 110cc scooter for the indian market when most of them use 150cc or more, i'm sure the navi could've been a success if it were 125cc.

    The Navi has a 0.9 gallon tank and a mpg of 132.6 so not bad other than it having a carburetor 👍 best to use unleaded Ethanol for the bike it has some protection against the engine sputtering also I bought a new carburetor which is why I said a 132.5 mpg difference also major speed difference I can get a top speed of 62 mph switched the throttle and the best thing I found out is that you have to fill it up higher than the average of 0.756 I filled it up to 0.923 and major difference also I changed the brakes to hydraulic and made the speedometer LED and added front suspension also the heavier you are the slower the acceleration is so if you wanna hit 62 mph be 165-175 lbs and you’ll get that difference with the government tax and fees plus the bike and all the mods it costed me $3,347 so this can be a nice little moped/scooter if you put the work in

    Back in the day, we did 2-up on a 2stroke Zuma and it would do a cosistant 25. That thing was bulletproof. Had it for 11 years. But my BIG concern is the durability of the CVT belt. I had an '04 Silver Wing and the belt started slipping at 13K. Not to mention the Chinese scoots that would break belts at about 100 miles of 2-up riding. So I can see belts becoming an aftermarlet niche.

    I’m surprised at the Navi being sluggish with your combined weight. I owned a 2010 Honda Elite 110 years ago, and being around 250 lbs at that time I was able to easily leave most cars behind from a light. It’s acceleration was good up to 35 mph and then it would taper off to a degree, but it easily cruised at 45 mph and my top speed was 50 mph. The Elite 110 was fuel injected, so that may have made it more responsive. I’ve been looking at getting a 110 or small 125 dirt bike for cruising the dirt roads and light trails at my buddy’s property in northern Michigan. I think a Navi would be good for this duty at its lower price and being street legal, I can use it around town at my house.

    Great video, I really enjoyed it (especially the offroad :D). here in Germany you are not allowed to drive a car before turning 18. so many teenagers who live outside the cities use 125cc or even less bikes to ride to school or smth like that. I wished the Navi was available here because of the extra storage it offers compared to my Grom :D

      Yeah, I had a gsxr 125 for about 3years and it was pretty nice and fast enough once you got it up to speed. Like 140kph on the highway actually

      I wish America was more like Germany so I could own a 125cc bike from the European style stable. Spain for instance has a wonderful small bike culture, those bikes serve well into young adulthood and you can usefully interface with the European transportation system with a 125. They are always fun to ride, a 125 of any style shines in mid sub/urban environment. Vast tracts of Europe are dense, low-rise mid-urban estates stretching across international boundaries. A Belgian 125 owner has immediate access to 5 nations in an almost unbroken, pretty cool landscape like that. Almost everything in that environment except carriageway transport is better on a smaller bike. You need at least two motorcycles as an adult in Germany though, in America you can get by with just the big one.

      Just get a 150cc scooter as the Navi is a scooter but less cargo. Look into the kymco like 150 about the same price while able to carry alot more and speeds of 65mph.

    After the break in oil change and proper adjustments you probably would have seen a good bit better performance. Doing this on a bike with 78 miles on it isn't going to give you a proper result.
