Very informative... Doing mine now. Glad I watched your video because the one from Goof Proof doesn't mention the fact that your drain should sit a bit lower that the mud. Makes sense.
Is there a different quick pitch plastic circle that sits on the drain if you are using a square drain instead of a round drain? The DIX video mentions the larger circle if you are using a square drain?? Thank you
Thank you for this video. I am just learning it. May I ask you why you installed these two PVC corner dams only at two, not 3 corners? Maybe you actually needed only one in one corner which is not touching the wall? What is the purpose of these two PVC corner dams?
Hi, I have two questions about a shower remodel using a mortar shower pan: 1. Do you use metal lath for the mortar bed above the membrane? If so, how do you protect the membrane from puncture. 2. I have a rectangular shower with the drain pretty centered. Should I keep the mortar bed at the same level across the entire wall (which will lead to a steeper pitch on the narrow part of the rectangle)? Or keep the 1/4” per foot slope which will lead to a lower spot in the middle of the long wall? Thank you.
the metal lath would go inside of the pre slope acting like rebar in concreate it will keep it from cracking under the liner i beleive i made a pre slope video in my channel search kooper salmo pre slope
@@KooperSalmoI saw the lath in the preslope but wasn’t sure if it was used in the mortar bed itself. I seem to find a new method each time I read a manufacturer instruction or different RUclips video. I think the lath can be skipped due to small nature of my project.
@@KooperSalmo Any thoughts on adjusting the pitch on the narrow side to keep the mortar bed level along the long side? Or let it dip in the middle along the long wall to keep the pitch at 1/4”/ft?
I found it on either Amazon or eBay and if that doesn’t work just search Google for quick patch sticks the vinyl if that’s what you’re asking for is sold at Home Depot and the big hardware stores
U doing right about the slope I personally wouldn't try all that you talking about there's a better way and it's know what you doing without wasting time all that metal just gonna be on my way plus the time waste I believe level it's ur best friend and I wouldn't mislead someone that try to learn with all you inventions...

Thanks for the video wish me luck.
Good luck
Great job. I'm doing a walk in shower. About 6ft x 3ft. Do these pitches have extensions to reach the length of 6ft?
Yes their is extensions

Great idea.
Where do you buy those sticks at?
eBay or amazon
Or floor and decor if you have in your area
i dont see a preslope? doesnt the liner go after the first layer of dry mortar
Yes some people don’t do a pre-slope but there is a pre-slope under that vinyl
i have the same kit , can i do it on a concrete slab the same way
Yes
Can u put the drain in the middle of the shower floor?
You can put the drain wherever you want just make sure that the water drains to the drain you will have to adjust your sticks around the drain
Hi my friend can you please tell me where I could purchase this

a pre slope and a post slope? wouldn't that give double the needed slope? I would think that would make for an uncomfortable floor.
You keep the same thickness slope quarter of an inch for every 12 inches to the drain
