    I was just logged into Costco and the US price is $99.99, not bad for a milled putter, actually outstanding. I remember seeing a fellow golf league partner drop this putter in his bag and the feedback was positive. I could be wrong but Costco if it desires to be a player in the golf market, it can do so successfully. I remember seeing a Rick Shiels review on their Kirkland wedges and that was positive as well. Plus a plan to release a set of forged irons later this year. All I know is when Costco drops the Kirkland brand on anything here in the states it's going to be quality. That's how they roll. Quality at a value price. It's a winner.

    Totally disagree. Went from a mallet to the Kirkland. Great feel and performance even with off center hits. You can add weight if you need it. Was even able to compare to the Cameron and the feel was the same. Cost me 98 US or about 81 pounds.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. At £81 my view would be different and it’s better value for money. But at £170ish which is what I think I paid at the time, I’m not convinced it is great value for money.
      And as for forgiveness, I thought objectively, a mallet is more forgiving for off centre hits compared to a blade. I’ve since been for a putter fitting and for me, a mallet (not necessarily the most expensive) worked best for me rather than a blade

    • @scubachaz1

    L💚VED the vid GGR, and as a veteran swing coach for the genetic / athletically snubbed ( such as myself ), I'm going to add to the mystique of this putter, that of which my wife & I own....purely by default.
    Firstly tho, the initial intrigue or widespread 'buzz' of this putter was that it's performance was comparable to the Scotty Cameron series of blade putters for less than half the price. The only 2 caveats being the one you mentioned ( a fee of considerable heft for the weight kit ) and the fact that the somewhat silly, gaudy name embossed on both the putter & cover might as well be, 'Kellogg's Corn Flakes' or something similar. Dunno, have to admit, it DOES put me off a trife but not enough to take it out of my 'Putter Rotation.'
    Question: Do we REALLY NEED the weight kit? Answer: No, we don't.
    But will we?...with our bent, 'gotta have it' mentality, purchase the weight kit even if we putt well with the 'as is' KS-1?
    Yes....why yes we will.
    Now for those who are familiar with the GTM chain of stores, our GTM stores get a goodly amount of Costco' run-off products, & because of that ( and the added discounts GTM regularly hands out ) we couldn't help but buy one of our putters (brand spankin' new) for $16 USD, and the other at a later date (an open box putter) for $38 USD. One came without a head cover, which I obtained from a pro shop....used but free of charge.
    My HONEST O? I believe golfers can putt with just about any putter ever made ... even a no-named, thrift shop, globule of chaff shrapnel ( which I use infrequently to best my playing partners when they proudly brandish their coveted Scotty Camerons ( 🎶angels singing🎵 ). MAN do they get annoyed, which adds to my smug joy. I've dubbed it, my Foster Inbred Putter. Cost? 2 dollars.
    How do I maintain such consistency no matter WHAT I wield? If some of you would like to know, I'd be glad to pass on to you what I teach my N.A.G.S. ( Non Athletic Golf Students ). And like THEIR putting lesson; ( you only need one ), its ultra brief and and super simple and VERY effective.
    K...I've taken up enough real estate here. Keep up the good work GGR, and yes I've subscribed and given a thumbs up.
    Oh btw... imho, I think The KS-1 is just as good as any 'Scotty.' And at less than half the price ... why not?

      @GolfGuyReviews  Год назад +1

      Firstly, this is the most detailed and well written comment I've ever received, so thank you for that!

    The only substantive criticism of the putter itself was the comparison to a mallet putter (which is really apples and oranges when it comes to forgiveness). Apparently the only "problem" in your view is the brand name: 1) do you want the Kirkland brand in your bag, and 2) at this price point you can buy a putter from putter brands with more experience making putters. Given that the putter IS actually made by one of those "experienced" brands, then the second point re: brand is really moot. TLDR: it's a solid putter unless you are a brand snob. For anyone who cares more about performance at a reasonable cost, this seems like a screaming buy. If you are going to feel self-conscious about the branding in front of your golfing buddies, you aren't even going to consider Kirkland in the first place. Just pick a side.

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching Chris. It’s not a problem for me, as I still have the Kirkland in the bag. However, I can also confirm someone has mentioned the putter every single time I’ve played golf with it with someone new, either out of curiosity or as a jibe, and I know there are plenty of people who won’t like that, so I stand by that it’s a valid consideration for some. Might not be ideal but that’s the world we live in where brand and appeal matter as much as performance.
      As a completely average 18 hc golfer, I don’t feel I have the skill, knowledge or measuring equipment to judge any club in terms of performance. While I do reference in the video that I haven’t had any issues with it on the course, I appreciate I could have made my position clearer and will bare that in mind for future. If viewers do want that kind of information, there’s plenty of other larger channel who do have better experience and resources, and no doubt these videos are being recommended alongside mine.
      Personally, the inability to try the putter before buying is still a problem, and while it is possible to return is even after use, for some that’s not practical, as here in the UK Costco stores aren’t particularly common. At the time of filming, I didn’t realise Costco had such an accommodating returns policy, but given the inconvenience that may be involved, I think the point still stands and is worth considering by anyone thinking of buying the putter.
      Thanks for the feedback, I run this channel as a hobby in my limited spare time, and strive to try to make the next video better than the last 👍

    Your premise is moot with Costco's extraordinary return policy, unless they have a different return policy outside the USA. Buying this is not a punt, it's satisfaction guaranteed.
    In other words, your main issue isn't an issue at all. You can buy this, take it to any golf shop, compare it side-by-side, and if you want some other putter, just return the Kirkland for 100% refund.
    Which makes your video NOT useful. It's just click-bait spam. Is my assessment harsh? Or is my assessment of your video more valid than your review?

    • @GolfGuyReviews
      @GolfGuyReviews  Год назад +1

      Thanks for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts
      At the time of recording and publishing this video, I wasn’t aware of Costco’s generous returns policy, and by that time I had thoroughly used the putter and not longer needed it, I assumed it was well out of the returns period.
      With that said, while the generous returns policy is great, I’m not the biggest fan from a sustainably standpoint. But appreciate that’s not a point I make in the video, as it wasn’t one I knew I needed to make at the time.
      Also, here in the UK, people may buy the putter on a whim in store, but not live particularly close to have to return after trying it.
      Finally, the fact you have to buy the putter to then arrange a fitting at a 3rd party to compare it side by side with other putters is another disadvantage compared to trying every other putter at a fitting/golf shop.

      Thanks for watching. I’m pretty sure I say in the video it performed well for me and I had no complaints in that department…but that’s based on the combination of my feel, my putting stroke, and my limited knowledge of what makes a ‘quality’ putter.
      My issue isn’t the price alone…it’s the fact that I feel it’s difficult to test how the putter performs for you which means you’ll have to buy it to try it. And at that price at the time it felt like a risk. If it’s now $99 and you feel you’re happy to take a gamble at that price (which personally I would) then it sounds like a good bet 👍
      As others have pointed out in the comments and I failed to mention, if it’s easy for you to return it, then you may be able to anyway even after trying it, which makes it a more compelling putter….if you’re happy it’s a Kirkland

    If they shrunk down all the branding it wouldn't be so bad. Not being a golf brand, its too large, bold and in your face. I would buy a separate club head cover for sure to mask it. Also, don't forget about the amazing costco return policy. You can buy the putter, try it out for as long as you have your membership and return it if you don't like it.

    You failed to mention the fact that you can buy this putter and take it back to Costco for a full refund if you don't like it. No questions asked, No need to sell it for less money on the used market.

      That’s fair, so long as it’s easy enough to get back to Costco to return (their not as widespread in the uk as the US. But I didn’t realise the returns policy was so generous at the time of filming this video

    Inesis have a new range of slick looking putters and it would be great for you to review one of them - it’s all the promises that Kirkland offer at half the price. Which is where the Kirkland should have been

      Will have to check out their range and maybe buy one of them then - if I don’t sell the Kirkland before I could do a straight comparison

    You do realize that Costco is famous for their return policy right?!?! You really over looked this very important bit because when it comes down to it, you can return it no questions asked. Not trying to talk down, just think it is important to give all the information

      Thanks for watching Bruce. At the time of filming I’d been a Costco member for a few years, and I had no idea about the generous returns policy 🤣🤦‍♂️ it’s a fair point that many have raised on this video, had I known it at the time I would have mentioned it as it’s another reason to give them a try, so long as you live close enough to warrant driving back to return it.

  • @danhayden4254

    If you do not like it. Take it back to Costco. While you are at Costco spend 300 more dollars before you leave.

      Thanks for watching. At the time of filming, I didn’t realise the return policy was so generous, so if it’s easy to get to, returning the putter makes it a much more attractive choice, especially at its new discounted price
