- I USE SWIVEL TECHNIQUE. sorry this isnt professional at all. i wasn't paying attention to the screen on the camera to see that this was blurred and also i have no recording equipment but i'm getting ready for tour and since Abysmal just came out i figured I'd use my girlfriendsT6i video features to just record the room sound and video. i just have the PA speakers on for the kick triggers. i also edited this with Imovie cause i am also without a good editing program at the moment so with its limited ability to push the song into just the right spot with the drums its just slightly off from me but i figure its close enough. you'll all see it on tour any way.
my set up includes
Sabian Cymbals, Evans Heads, Tama Drums, and Vater Sticks.

Shannon is probably my favorite drummer, and I miss him, but this guy...
I agree but this guy stepped up to the plate.
SBeckerDTD For sure. This guy kicks ass.
..7 years lata(since joined)..Venimous goin be good!
Gar Ben it is
oh yea. i actually love abysmal. i dont get why people dont
This is why they call him Alan "Blastidy".
I don't understand how you make this look so easy. I've been busting my ass lately to get to a level of being able to play Asylum, and I'm almost there, but this song still kicks my ass even though it's like 30bpm slower. I don't get it, lol! Amazing job, man. I can't wait to hear more of your work on the next album. You bring a new dynamic to TBDM with your grooves in songs like Asylum and The Fog, etc.. It lit a fire under my ass like never before.
He does indeed make everything look easy…I was trying to learn Miasma a couple months back and the fastest I’ve gotten to was 200 BPM. The song is at 222. UGHHH COME ON ANKLES WORK
RESPECT!!!!
This guy really fits Shannon Lucas's shoes pretty well
And he has his own sound
The black dahlia never dissapoint at all, not even on the drums
Hell yeahhh
Fuck dude. That was insanely clean hahaha jesus fuck
Any plans on covering some if their newer shit? Seeing you pull off Threat Level No. 3 would be fucking awesome!
+BurnThePope0514 yes, I have some new videos that will be coming out hopefully in the next month or so.
+BurnThePope0514 it's a secret
+BurnThePope0514 you know he IS the drummer who recorded Abysmal and has been with TBDM since 2012 right?
+666sicksatan666 You do know that I responded to Samus, right? And Allan thought I was asking him.
I think I am probably the only one that paid attention to the green light blinking when he hits the bass drum...
Man I love the drumming
which one?
Alexander Holmes there is a green light that comes from the trigger unit, right behind the Hihat stand. It lights up , every time Alan plays the kickdrums.
Happy birthday bro. Many years more to keep on slaying the drum tracks just like this one.
Dude... you have won my heart with this song alone. Perfect everything. Shannon Lucas is my favorite drummer, hands down; but I still love the new album. Your drumming is prestige. Thank you for blessing my ears with your sound. (: The angle is fine btw, I'm a drummer and I could make out what he's doing just fine. Beautiful cymbal work and intricate simplicity. Beautiful. (No homo)
I NEVER DID LAUNDRY
IVE NEVER DONE METH
fuck
why
JUST WHY
i knew proper lyrics for like 3 years and now i can't unhear what you've written here
That part literally came up as i read that 😆 wow fucking perfect
All I can focus on is the drum " trace" light blinking on your module for your bass drum triggers lol
You're killing it dude. Drums sound SO much more tight on this album. Really shows how great of a drummer you are
damn dude that trigger sample is amazing! i need it haha!
also, 1st 2nd and 3rd prize for hands down goddamned cleanest one take playthrough of a song on YT. period.
reggae off the alesis DM5
Alan Cassidy thanks dude! Youdabez!
Super sick playthrough man! Thanks!
this is seriously and undoubtedly the best drum video on this planet
Added this video to my favourites. Btw I was at your winnipeg concert a couple days ago, and I was in awe at how you were just dominating every note. Rock on man.
Great playthrough Alan. You're definitely going to kick ass with these née tracks live. Definitely would love to see a playthrough of Asylum, those blast beats sound ridiculously fast and difficult.
Man, you make that look effortless! awesome \m/
When you have time you should def make more of these this is sick
my favorite metal drummer hands down!
beast.... seen you back in 2012 in grand rapids Michigan with dethklok and hands down y'all took the cake keep that shit up man tbdm for life
I would love to see a Drum Thru of Asylum.
+Fausto Rodriguez I'd shit myself. My favorite song from Abysmal! I can't wait to see them live soon. They blow me away every single time. I was worried when Shannon left because he was such a monster on the kit, but Alan has filled the role flawlessly. Amazing drummer. Listening to his drum skills makes me want to just give up, lol! Not really, but it does blow my mind.
+OneSickDrummer fuckin a. I need to see that video
The Advent for me

Swivel technique

Masterful.
More!! Must record more from Abysmal!
Clean, laid back and brutal all at the same time.
TBDM never disappoints.
Dude…just dude ❤️❤️❤️
This is freaking insane, do you practice from when you wake up till you go to bed??? You make it look too easy 😂
so clean \m/
Alan Fuckin' Cassidy. You Da Man!

Was anyone else looking at the green light monitoring the bass drum triggers?
You're fucking insane Alan.
any foot techniques? heel toe, ankles, etc.
i fucking need this trigger sample! sick video dude! LUDICROUSLY tight
sick performance.
youre insane Alan
+Alan Cassidy great song man and tight playing as always, you play swivel for or just ankle motion?
+AEONSCREW swivel
Those mutes are fucking amazing.
I fucking love The Black Dahlia Murder and I love your drumming Alan, but this is kind of a bad angle for the drum play through. If you could have one thats from a behind the kit perspective so it gives the watcher a better view of what your playing, thatd be fucking amazing. Again, fucking love the band, and love your drumming, but thought I'd give my drunk two cents. Much much much love from small town Canada seeing you live soon in Ottawa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s I love your face
If I would have shot it from any other angle the kicks would have sounded like crap. I mean I guess I could have just done the angles for the sake of seeing stuff and kept one audio take but it's hard to sync that stuff up with a million edits. So no camera tricks here just playing shit one time through.
+Alan Cassidy Oh, sorry man, I didnt mean to come off rude or like a dick, re-reading what I wrote kinda seemed like that. Im not a drummer or tried to record drums so I have no idea how the sound would be affected by the placement of the camera. You guys are the best, so just ignore my slightly drunken comment and keep being awesome!!! Also kind of fanboyed when I saw that you replied to my comment!
Congrats dude, you're more of a man than most
oh my god..
what kind of sampler/in-ear/mixer/trigger/module setup have you got going on dudeman? sounds killer
+Daniel Harris (abandoneddan) roland sp-404 sampler, behringer xenyx Q1002 mixer, alesis dm 5 module, reggae voice, now using roland tm 2 module w/reggae, and whatever 100 dollar shur in ears are out there
Let me film you on tour man. I got 5 cameras for you.
+Jesse Bowles that needs to happen
Ikr!
Fuck Yeah! You need to brother! Gottta give props with the Dave Haley Vid man!
Thanks dude! More stuff to come in the future.
Are you ever planning on posting a playthrough of Threat Level No. 3?
yes. soon
Asombroso ese batero
You know it's legit when the hair is not messed up yet
how could you hit unlike on this? allen is a fuckin beast!
Dat double base doe
this video is about receipt?
Yo alan, was wondering what you are using to voice them triggerS? Subwoofer? my shit doesn't sounds as champion as your kick on this track
It's an Alesis dm 5 module through a PA and the camera is set across the room directly between the 2 pa speakers
+Alan Cassidy any hope on sharing the dm5's profile/settings?! 😈
+abysslord16 real like gain, or even the compressed wav sample, much love, your spin with these guys are fucken impeccable
+Simon San Nicolas Reggae voice
Shitty quality or not, its still fucking awesome. Great playing on the album as a whole.
whats the BPM of this song? it sounds like its definitely over 220BPM
This kid fucking rules.
Oh my fuckin god....wow....fuckin wow. 🙌🏻
so damn clean are you even human?
brutaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TBDM the band that always trades upwards it seems! :D Fuck you really are a beast! Would love to hear without triggers though
najtrows there's really no point to no triggers especially with this track because it wouldn't have nearly the attack and the fast parts would just sound like wubwubwubwub rather than TICKTICKTKCKTIK
i trust your judgement. i still want to hear it though, not meaning this sounds bad at all :)
Sweet Dyson Vacuum
Rofl, tight as f00k
1:32
I don’t get why you recorded at this angle good cover though
Are you using heel toe at 1:32?
Nope , swivel always
Thats awesome. You're technique is killer
What triggers do you use?
Barndonn Roland rkt-10's and Roland TM 2 module
All your drums or just your bass drums?
also what ride do you use?
"sorry this isnt professional at all" Dude you say that like you're just covering through it, you're in the band lmao. No one's looking for professionalism. This is sick as fuck.
Fuuuuuck bruh. Saw yo ass in Billings, MT not that long ago. You are flawless as fuck dude.
please make a drum tutorial
Rizki MJM just watch it over and over and over until you get it
Ridiculous in the best way
watched again. still fast fuck lol.
He made that look entirely too easy.
Compressors needed, otherwise great playing
Metal. >:((
You're killing it dude. Drums sound SO much more tight on this album. Really shows how great of a drummer you are
I would love to see a Drum Thru of Asylum.
