I have Hexa, Og Olina, Cadenza, and Salnotes. Salnotes is a $20 banger, but the Cadenza is an upgrade at $35…better bass, mids, treble. Hexa and Olina trade blows, but the Hexa is very musical and euphoric and never offends my ears. The Olina still wins at being holographic. I use spinfit cp 100+ for all IEMs for better and tighter bass, better midrange and treble control, and open soundstage.
hi.. i had purchase the zero one month ago after watching some yt review.. i agree with you.. are absolutely incredible for the price range.. they have even decent sounstage.. the clarity and the balance is perfect.. and are also really enjoyable..
Hexa has a great base tuning for those who want to experiment. The airiness and layering that it provides is amazing and hard to get in its price range. Detailwise it's right up there; a step below my sennheiser hd560s'. It has cleaner details but 560s has more nuance and i don't think it would be that easy for them to compete directly.
1:29 I don't know if you have access to Adorama, but they sell the er3se for 50 dollars every so often. I find it to be a step up from the er2, my current daily drivers. For example, less distortion on fast clarinet notes. As for the bass-shy ness, the er2xr was less balanced and preferable to me overall, but there were tracks where it beat the er2se. I still preferred the er3 in those situations.
I place comfort and stability ove sound because no matter how good it sound if you can’t get a good fit or it’s uncomfortable then you won’t want to wear it. Yes you can buy different tips but that might not be enough at least in my experience.
I've started with a few cheap then i've bought the Fiio FH3, then other cheap and last year I've buyed the Kato, the most expensive of my collection. I've been soo shocked for how little improvement that I've let them in the box for a few month. Now I think it's was worth to get and test the items from 20 to almost 200$. Obviusly there are good and bad iem, but the end it depends on what users you are. I've tried to make listen to music to a friend with qkz hbb, salnotes zero and the waner. QKZ win directly, waner meh and salnotes zero kick out instantly. This is why when people ask for iem my first question is "what music you listen and what sound you like to get?" then we can talk how much you want to spend on the iem. At the end the very important part is how you want to listen to music and enjoy it. All the audiophile terms is just wasting time at that point.
This only happens with avarage consumers that are used to beats headphones and stuff. It is different to ask this kind of person and audiophiles, to be honest.
Details are in the drivers . Tuning is something else . Try to listen to 2 iem. 1 with expensive drivers one with cheap and have some tuning. Big difference
I’m so excited to have just started getting into audio stuffs 🥰🥰🥰 Kinda kicked off when I started looking for good earphones for gaming on my switch for when I would fly and can’t (or rather shouldn’t) use my wireless earbuds. But then the rabbit hole went pretty far 😂 With the Hexa at $80, I can’t wait for the standard to be $40 for just as good a build and performance. 😍
The 40euros standard kind of already happened to me when I discovered a KZ ZSX back in 2019 but it could not deliver on stereo accuracy so for gaming it send me back on a quest. (I was looking for the famous super flat Q-Jays that are now discontinued)
You express and describe audio very clearly and effortlessly compared to just about any reviewer So far there hasn't been an obvious contender to the value proposition of 7hz0 as er2se/xr and hexa are overpriced in my region. That leaves perhaps the aria and timeless to be considered, and while the latter is interesting in that it's a planar, I've heard enough about it to have me question how good it really is. The reviews are polarising. That being said, it is available for substantially less than retail Regarding your comment on 7hz0 fit, try the more conical stock tips (teal and yellow) Kiwi ears cadenza also decently priced
The ER2's would be my top priority IF it were more avalible outside of amazon, that thing cost 20% more when it ship to my country, so for more avalibity i would say the HEXA win
Great review. Can you recommend straight cables eim’s. I dont like the over the ear ones. 150 dollar range. Currently using shure 215 but don’t like over the ear cables. Thx.
On the etymotic er2se subs are still there, but they are just coloring the sound (they are not that prominent)🙂. Olina SE has far better resolution and details and texture compare to the hexa, it is even slightly better that on the etymotic er2se. One thing my ears have a little problem with in the case of the olina se is that peak at approx. 9KHz I can really hear it (it is resonating).
Would you recommend the Hexa or the ER2SE for on the go audio work, assuming both the price difference and the ergonomics of the ety were not an issue?
Hi! When you say an iem is better than another iem , you talk about how the iem is EQ? I don't understand...if an iem is not good because doesn't have enough bass for example, then just use the EQ. I'm new to iems so I don't understand why people spend a lot of money like 100 or 200 dollars for iems, maybe for design ...
I understand your point, but it turns out you can't truly eq anything to anything else....crosssovers between drivers hamper this for example...also it's easier to reduce a boost rather than introduce a boost in the bass region. Nonetheless, eq is a very very powerful tool and can significantly change sound signature and improve quality and even-ness in many cases. However, something that's well tuned out of the box I.e. with physical tuning rather than dsp is great...plug it into anything and it's just great without any additional software...
Which of these would you recommend for movies? Or do you think the Truthear Crinacle Zero would be a better option? Any other suggestions would be good as well, personally am using the Sony WFXM4 now but am looking for a wired option as well
After a month with the Hexa, Hola, and trying my friend’s 7Hz Zero every week or so, I’ve realized that I don’t have an issue with a wide nozzle, rather with the nozzle length being too long. The Hexa doesn’t sit against my ear no matter how hard I try to touch my brain with it. 😅 further more the ear tip rubber texture on the Hexa is too smooth which doesn’t help keep it in my ear. Over all I get bass leak as well as a feeling that it’ll fall out (even if it won’t because of the cable hooks). I also find myself agreeing with your experiences. The layering is good on the Hexa. Actually blew me away the first time I heard what decent separation was in comparison to the $20 budget lineup. 😂 anyway the Zero IS very fun to listen to! 😊 Would you say having the inner side of the IEM shell not securely touching my ear is an issue if I’m able to find tips that work better for me?
Well if the body of the iem isn't secure against your ears it's not a problem unless you're walking or running..then it'll bounce a bit and you'll hear that. As for the seal in the ear.. that's quite important. Perhaps foam tips ?
@Athenovae squeeze em first...insert iem..hold in place until foam expands fully..you sould hear the world atound you become quiet ..takes between 3 and 10 seconds depending on the tip. Then let go.
I find the Hexa's base bloated, it bleeds into the lower mids. I just do not know how people call these balanced compared to the ER2SE and Simgot EA500.
Hi, I was considering the Hexa for listening to vocals (male vocals similar to R&B). I listen to vocals-only audio. How would you say the Hexas do at it's price range?
