So Argentina win the WC with Scaloni and Spain win the Euros with Fuente and Simon Jordan is still banging on about Klopp, like that would guarantee England any success - not to mention as a proud German, why take the England role and not the German one. Carsley plays football the right way and if his team gets to a Final, he would not play the underdog and roll over like Southgate's England did against Italy and Spain.

The top 2 international sides right now, Spain and Argentina, both got their current managers from their youth setup. They were already in the fold. They were already familiar with all the players, the system, the schedule etc. They weren't foreigners flown in to try to push across a finish line.

Klopps greatest strength is his week in week out relationship with his players. He's a CLUB manager. The German national team job is possibly the only national side he would consider taking on, that aside I don't see him considering anything other than managing another club somewhere in Europe.
p.s. I've always thought that for better or worse all national teams should be managed by a citizen of the country the team represents.

International management would have two serious stumbling blocks for Klopp. He wouldn't have the time with the players to coach them to play how he wants them to play, and he wouldn't necessarily have suitable players for the system that he wants to play since you can't buy in players. Managing the youth team is a benefit for international managers since it's possible to coach the players and have them ready made for the future.

That's why Brian Clough as "the greatest manager England never had" is an empty soundbite. International football is a different beast to club level. The cornerstone of Clough's success was recruiting BRITISH players (via Peter Taylor) and moulding said players into his image. Neither of which he could've done as England manager.

De La Fuentes was because Spain youth has been schooled on a system of play. England players on the other hand, are not from same environment, so we don’t expect a distinct style of play from them in tournaments. Many players are also being overhyped into world class levels. Despite this, if England FA wish to target winning tournament as objectives, Mourinho is the right profile of manager they should go for. He knows English football n footballers well, pragmatic in games , has a ruthless winning mentality. But success or not, just for one or two campaigns.

English can’t even bring them selves to celebrate one of their most successful managers ever.
When they look to hire a manager, and the manager says he can get the team to two finals and semi.. you would snap is arm off and sign the contract.
The arrogance that they ‘should’ have won, is so misplaced. It’s funny because southgate was responsible for building that expectation! lol
