- Gibraltar new sight to visit for tourists and locals, The Natural History Museum in Gibraltar at Parson’s Lodge battery, showcases the rich natural and geological history of the region, including exhibits on the local flora, fauna, and geology. It offers insights into the unique ecosystems of Gibraltar and its surrounding area, highlighting the diverse wildlife and environmental features of the region.
Gibraltar, is the British Overseas Territory, and city located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. It has an area of 6.7 km2 (2.6 sq mi) and is bordered to the north by Spain (Campo de Gibraltar). The landscape is dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, at the foot of which is a densely populated town area, home to some 32,688 people (2022 estimate), primarily Gibraltarians.
Gibraltar is most famous for The Rock of Gibraltar, a 426 meter high limestone rock rising out of the sea. The rock can be seen for many miles. It is home to the Barbary Apes, a type of tail-less macaque which are the only wild monkeys in Europe.
A unique feature of the Rock is its system of underground passages, known as the Galleries or the Great Siege Tunnels. The first of these was dug towards the end of the Great Siege of Gibraltar, which lasted from 1779 to 1783.

Thanks Janna for taking us around this mueseum. I have always been interested in learning about how these old places were used. And those arched whitewashed rooms are to be seen in many places in UK that were used in war time. I managed to read most of the history notice you paused on - so the walk was very informative. Great views and maybe a place to bring a flask and coffey one day... Thanks very much for your work there... Kevin..

That’s new. I walked up there last august. I startled some people and was asked to leave. I had a lovely swim across rosia bay though.
I shall give that a try on Monday. It's something different.
Какое местечко замечательное. Посидеть. кофейку попить, книгу почитать. А музей напоминает больше археологический. Птицы, бабочки - они летают, где хотят, а другим животным места уже нет, даже тритонам и лягушкам. не говоря уже о кроликах и лисах. Всякие волки, олени, козлы давно исчезли. Остались только макаки, собаки да коты беспризорные :)
Привет, Роберт, да, ты как всегда прав, интересное место, я давно все хотела сюда попасть, но там было закрыто… я думала это будет больше связано с военной тематикой… Жаль, и правда, что животные исчезли, я как-то видела картину старую, там сбор на охоту, еще удивилась, а видишь оказывается сколько живности когда-то водилось 😮
Жан,привет!Музей под открытым небом,это классно,виды там,конечно ,обалденные,,уже ради этого можно сюда приехать или же дойти.На плакатах увидела различных зверушек,например,зайцев или кроликов,не поняла,ждала когда же пробежит косой,но они спрятались,однако))И ещё не покидало ощущение,что вот-вот появится волк-зубами щёлк.Короче,там немноголюдно и от этого тревожно.спасибо,что не побоялась,хотя ты по джунглям одна ходила и не боялась,сняла ролик,смонтировала,порадовала.Жду новых приключений из Гиба))❤💖🧡💙💜
