Nice job dude, another great video and the end result looks amazing! For the sake of others watching, I thought I’d share a couple things from when I used to set tile that may help out too: 1) try and match your thin set color and tile color as best you can. That way you don’t have to be as critical with the knife cleaning up before grouting. Also, if you use a natural marble stone instead of porcelain, the dark thin set can really darken the look of the marble, not ideal. Not a big deal if you use porcelain/ceramic though. 2) for corners, also consider making L cuts instead of two separate tiles. This will keep your uniform grout lines. 3) before tiling, think about the focal point and base your pattern off that, and tie it to both vertical and horizontal surfaces. For example, if you snap a line from the center of the fireplace to the top, then use a straight edge and continue that down under the fireplace, onto the bench, and onto the ground, it really brings things together and is more visually appealing. This is absolutely a nit picky thing that NO ONE would notice (unless they set tile), but if you do it, it really is more visually appealing. Your work speaks for itself and it’s still gorgeous - very cool to see you and your wife working on these great projects together too. You should be really proud!
Can Irina do some home decorating videos for us?? I know it’s your Chanel, but I love that she’s working with you on projects, and her decorating is on point!! I’d love some holiday decor!!
Your fireplace looks incredible. I was skeptical with the tile but WOW. You really elevated the appearance and it looks amazing. Love your energy and positivity (and a great looking guy too! 😂). Thank you for this DIY
Looks way better for sure. Like he said, he saved so much money on a project that would've cost so much more! Not to mention the revenue that's going to come in from the video. I call it a win-win no matter what!
Wow that looks fantastic! Awesome job! I love how you explained what each bucket was for and included tips and tutorials and products and mistakes for people who have no experience. Thank you! I love how you and your wife work together on decisions and projects too. You make a great team!
When I have small and large pieces like you have on your Hearth stone. I always try to put the small pieces to the back. Not only for looks but also integrity of what will be the most used spot of the area. Small pieces tend to break into pieces and or off quicker. Also useful for decks patios and rock work.
When you were standing outside I was thinking it was warm, you looked comfortable. I would have been buzzing and vibrating and wrapping myself up before I ever let frost take hold of me. Thank for being sharing. It looks wonderful
BROOO....thank you... is all i got. perfect video for fireplace stuff without you trying to flex. just keeping it real.... again, thanks my guy. i just subscribed
Definately looks better than the original stone - marble always retains its style no matter what trends come and go. Only slight criticism are the joints in the tiling, if they had have matched up in more of a linear bond it would have been PRO AF!
It looks great... The only thing I would suggest is next time rather than adding a small piece of tile at the end of a row, cut the first piece of tile down slightly. Then you won't need small slithers of tile to fill in gaps.
was pretty hyped at first, when you showed it at the beginning of the video from far away. But when i saw you doing the tiles and grout on the tile inner edge.. well, you learn by your mistakes. if you are just a bit unlucky, your tiles will crack there. Also, better spend some more time on layout prep. Anyway, i like the DIY stuff you do.
I think the difference between you and us, you have that positive touch and determination. Most of US on the other side have the motivation and willingness but it’s the partners in the household that have the negative attitude with any project and once executed, the whole project crumbles. Great partnership and positive support, no matter how it turned out, all great energy. Loved it!
yeah bruh youtube critics are brutal!! great job though!! nice with the buttah, tile saw safety tip was hilarious--don't get distracted watchin me!! As the centerpiece (the fire place), and as you've done expertly throughout, the grout lines could line up but I think the flow you have with the tile faces are spot on! Watch them change orders hahaha; busting up with your facial expression!! You guys are greatt keep 'em vids a coming!
Well done buddy - looks great! The only thing that triggered my OCD ;) was the corner cuts on the top left and right corners of the fire place.. once the grout was put in it covered it up! Overall well done legend
Honest question; Why use the spacer pieces on the bottom, but then fore-go them on the upper trim? The whole time I was fixated on the small square tiles on the upper face, no spacer was used and I can see the "unsquared" tile the whole time. Grout helps, but one adjustment and it would look way more square. Is this a style preference? Do I have OCD? Am I wasting my time commenting about someone else house and if they enjoy it then that all that matters????
I did the same at my house but since I never used the fireplace, that is not an issue. To me fireplaces are decorative, makes no sense to use them when the house is centrally heated and in an even temperature.
@@bosoares Not everyone has central heating. My house has heat and A/C through most of the house, but the living room was an addition and isn't tied in, so our fireplace is the only way to heat it. And even with central heat, there is just something so nice about cozying up next to the fire.
Isn't the water in the cutter also preventing people from inhaling the material? I've always been told that it reduces the dust amount so people don't inhale stone/marble. :)
My brick fireplace is similar on the corners. Why did you remove the wood floor? Why can't you mount the frame on top of the floor directly and need to access the subfloor?
Yes, he admitted he aint a tile guy, just a DIY guy. The bathroom he did earlier had the same layout issue, and the grout lines were off then too!!! But well, whats there to lose, the imperfections are there for him to see :D :D
As someone that works in the industry. There is not one job that is perfect, all that matters is the customer is satisfied. The customer sets his own expectations and is okay with it. This is a win win. This job wasn’t done for Tom L. Also the way trends go I wouldn’t be surprised if the white on white marble look goes away. Watch this be remade 5 to 10 years later, not for quality of install but customer preference or what is most popular at the time.
Will you be doing another local family dining table surprise ? The last one was awesome !! Looking forward to a new surprise for a deserving special someone !!
good video, your cost breakdown didnt cover tool rentals or tools required which would be good to know going into it. I did a fireplace makeover as well and we are well into by a lot more than you mentioned above. Part of that is tools part of that is a custom hardwood mantel but that was a personal choice we made.
I am a huge fan of your reno vids and love all of them! Great job! Am the only one who noticed that your wedding ring is gold? 😲 what happened to the black one?
I always appreciate these videos as I always learn something useful, but they also show you why professionals charge they way they do. I’d love the cost savings but every time I see diy tile work I’m reminded why I really should just pay a pro. 🤷🏽♀️ PS. I’ve been enjoying seeing you and your wife work on things together more too! 💫
Agreed. Tile work can be more frustrating than other diy jobs, more cleaning up and keeping clean during the job; mixing of thinset, etc. Cutting is harder than woodworking. and appearance-wise it demands a higher level of precision than other jobs, or it could look really bad.
I love the fireplace.. I would have started with a cut on the bottom of you border to avoid the little slivers at the top but other than that u did amazing and it looks beautiful!

The grout saved you. Good look. Good design.
Your fireplace looks incredible. I was skeptical with the tile but WOW. You really elevated the appearance and it looks amazing. Love your energy and positivity (and a great looking guy too! 😂). Thank you for this DIY
some pple actually like the hideous stone--- but must say the marble looks sophisticated
Much better looking a breath of fresh air seriously solid job and good taste.

Love this!!! You don’t know what hideous is unless you see our fireplace. We are getting ready to redo it. Yours looks amazing!!!!!
When you were standing outside I was thinking it was warm, you looked comfortable. I would have been buzzing and vibrating and wrapping myself up before I ever let frost take hold of me. Thank for being sharing. It looks wonderful
I love that, it looks amazing and your fireplace came out fabulous guys. I would love that! Irena you are sooo lucky to have a handy man around.
For the cost that was an insane transformation! Love the great energy and loads of tips, thank you!
Awesome job! Your channel honestly makes me feel like I can do near any remodels/makeovers in my house. Super inspiring, keep it up

That's not marble....
It looks great... The only thing I would suggest is next time rather than adding a small piece of tile at the end of a row, cut the first piece of tile down slightly. Then you won't need small slithers of tile to fill in gaps.
I love you guys and I have watched the majority of your videos - highly support what you’ve accomplished.
Wow looks amazing!! What a difference. Plus you saved a lot of money doing it yourself and using marble like tile instead of slabs.

I thought the original fireplace was decent. But damn, the new one looks awesome. Good job, it turned out great!

Stylish and beautiful, classy
I had my doubts DURING the process, but the outcome was stunning!!! Great job!
Well done buddy - looks great! The only thing that triggered my OCD ;) was the corner cuts on the top left and right corners of the fire place.. once the grout was put in it covered it up! Overall well done legend
Do you know that most tiles have arrows in the back that way the veins have a better chance to go the same direction?
Perfect timing; I was planning to do my fireplace this weekend
Great DIY video! Also a big plus for the good vibe you have
looks good man, cant wait to get my own house and try some things out
That looks incredible

Thinking the same thing..
Turned out great! Love the podcast btw.
Nice job. Coulda used schluter Jolly around fireplace to give u a nice finished edge
Great transformation! I like the snap intro of the before and after
Wish I knew how to do stuff like this man
Looks awesome! though I think you'll regret removing the netting/glass as there is nothing stopping the 'fire sparks'.
I did the same at my house but since I never used the fireplace, that is not an issue. To me fireplaces are decorative, makes no sense to use them when the house is centrally heated and in an even temperature.
stores now have nice decorative screens that look much better than glass

You guys are so funny! Looks great! Thanks for sharing!
Turned out AWESOME!!!
I love how he’s teaching her 🤩🤩
Awesome. Looks wayyyy better
I wish I could listen as fast as this gentleman talks.
Isn't the water in the cutter also preventing people from inhaling the material? I've always been told that it reduces the dust amount so people don't inhale stone/marble. :)
It’s mainly for cooling since tile cutters wear respirators
It’s mostly cooling. You really *should* wear a mask too, but we rarely did tbh. Trying to move quick, not the optimal move though
He sayd it makes lots of dust
Looks great Alex. You do great work👍. Keep em comming!!
looks insane
I love your channel, I love all the videos you've made. I have even applied some of your ideas and techniques, so, thankyou for that.
My brick fireplace is similar on the corners. Why did you remove the wood floor? Why can't you mount the frame on top of the floor directly and need to access the subfloor?
Looks good from about 5 feet away, once you get close you can tell by the look of the grout lines he spend a half hour on layout prep.
I feel like he didnt layout prep tiles and he chud of use one piece of tile doing fireplace top corners
Yes, he admitted he aint a tile guy, just a DIY guy. The bathroom he did earlier had the same layout issue, and the grout lines were off then too!!! But well, whats there to lose, the imperfections are there for him to see :D :D
Yeah, looks pretty terrible. Who replaces bricks with tiles? Wtf.
@@zloungeact well the bricks they had there weren’t really beautiful.

Wow, U did a gr8 job, & economical budget. Thx 4 sharing on Utube.
I've never been this early to his videos before. NICE.
Also: More places for decor, STAT!
Looks really good!
Looks awesome. Keep up the great content and I'll buy the house when your done lol

Great job on the fireplace bro!! Keep the DIY video coming 💪
I loved your video, your video is perfect fast and well narrated. I hate long winded slow talking, videos. Great job.
Looks good bro!
A quick question, without concern of moisture like in bathroom, is it ok to just use draywall, no the hardie backer? thanks,
Great job!
it look really nice and modern, good job
Nice! Now I need a fire place so I can do this
How would you do tile if you didn’t want to grout it. Like make it looks like one solid slab?
Man that was crazy affordable and it looks great. If you had to do it over what would you do differently?
This looks really beautiful! Great design. Great execution.
Where did you get the bit to drill the hole in the tile?
I think after watching your videos I feel a little more comfortable with doing tile work.
Thank you for the cost breakdown
turned out great
It looks really really good! 👍
Fantastic, 💥💥💥💥you're both so clever.
All of those different sizes would make me go crazy.. i'd take the old one over this one.
Thank you. I love what you have done. It looks almost like my fireplace which I'm looking to update mine you have given me one idea.
Hi..Can you use Tiles on a wood burning fire place?..dont they crack because of the heat?..Great video
You should do the inside with other stone too. It would be sick
Is there an update to that barn door he made?
Looks very good 👍🏽👍🏽 nice makeover
I am a huge fan of your reno vids and love all of them! Great job! Am the only one who noticed that your wedding ring is gold? 😲 what happened to the black one?
I'm a long time watcher and I love your content brotha but that fire place looks way 80's......but again I love your channel and keep gettin it 🤘😁🤙

Love this channel man! Keep up the great content. giving me and my family some good ideas
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another great transformation it looks Brilliant!!!
Looks great 👍🏾
Great work! I think the stone on the old one was too thin, the proportions now to me are much better!
Awesome 💯🙂👍
Your videos are awesome man! I have been a fan since you started and can’t wait to use your ideas on my forever home !
Great project
What work pants are those that you wear?
Looks awesome man!
Looks great! What’s the next project?
I love the fireplace.. I would have started with a cut on the bottom of you border to avoid the little slivers at the top but other than that u did amazing and it looks beautiful!
Приветствую! Смотрю вот я вот на ваши конструкции.. у вас противопожарных норм нет совсем?). Дерево около каминной топки это же опасно?!
Very Nice !
8:22 is the fireplace crooked or the picture on the wall?
Wow now I want to redo my fireplace and I just did it
I’m curious what the people who disliked this people think. Fireplace looks awesome!
Love the videos. Would love to see how much a quote would be from a contractor so we can see how much you’re saving.
I wish there was more of a blueprint/ instructions to actual do this project
