In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. RUclips earnings fluctuate wildly each month, as ad revenue changes throughout the year. Here are the charities that we've donated to so far:
July 2020:
British Heart Foundation UK (in memory of my father) €634

Alzheimer's Research UK (in memory of all of the residents of my parents' nursing homes) €350
September 2020:
Prostate Cancer Foundation (in memory of Selmar's father) €1255
October 2020:
Medecins sans Frontieres (chosen by my mother to support vaccinations in Africa) €942 (equivalent to 426 cholera vaccinations)

I used to show the gifts as part of 'The Chateau Diaries' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching @The Chateau Diaries gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us, and that by monetising this channel for charity we can pass on that joy to others 💖💖💖

The stories & sentiments behind the gifts are why I continue to watch these gift episodes. It’s sad that some viewers have started to judge the gifts; after all they are just a token of appreciation, and can rarely fully represent what the giver wishes to convey, appreciation. Appreciation for all the people of Chateau de la Lande have given to all of us over the years, especially during these past couple of years. Luckily the la Lande recipients all seem to understand this and a gracious with every gift opening. 🥰 💕

I think I've said this before on one of the Chateau Unwrapped videos but I'm going to say it again :) I love watching these videos! Perhaps because all of the gifts are thoughtful and come from a place of love. I also appreciate that the proceeds go to charity.

I never miss the Cadeau episodes, or any others for that matter!! I find it so life affirming to see Stephanie, Phillip, Nattie, Scotman & whoever else joins in, opening gifts from all over the world, given with so much love & so much thought!! I just know by watching this every Monday night is helping charities and that makes me happy. I love that people send presents from the goodness of their hearts and that makes me happy too 💗
Visiting Vienna - I highly recommend the Hofmobiliendepot Möbel Museum. I think that there’s another interior design museum in Vienna too… I’ll search for the brochure. It’s been nearly 25 years, so wish me luck! 🤣

I have long held the view that the gift is not about the gift. Its all about the thought and effort that was put into the acquisition of the gift and that is what one would be rejecting, if the gift was not wanted. That would be rude and inexcusable. It is only appropriate to accept.
You are right. There is an art, a courtesy and a kindness to accepting gifts in the right way that Stephanie has totally mastered. There is a saying, "The only things I ever kept are those I gave away." On some level Stephanie has understood that and she accepts the gifts with courtesy, charm and kindness.
Yes. And the really special thing about the people at La Lande is that they don't just accept, they accept every item with enthusiasm and even delight. I am trying to learn how to do that.
@@lisakilmer2667 Good for you, Lisa. When I was a child my mother taught me that way of accepting gifts. At the very least it was part of good manners. It was taking the the trouble ti try to make the giver happy for having tried to make you happy.
So agree. I wish some Parents would teach their Children to accept a gift graciously and to say a proper thank you. It’s terrible how badly mannered some people are and the lack of teaching just basic manners. Such a shame…

What extraordinary gifts as usual! Seeing the bottle of wine from Vienna brought back such a wonderful memory of drinking wine on a warm fall day at a cafe across the street from Beethoven’s home in that very same location as your bottle of wine. Hopefully this time next year we will all be out of lockdowns and enjoying life even fuller than before! Loved the hedgehog paperweight!

I find all of you so delightful. We here in the US have had some difficult days in lockdown over the past year and a half. Along with our church services live-streamed, and your uplifting videos a great deal of joy has come into our lives, especially those of us who live alone and have been isolated. I know there is a lot of hard work and live involved in restoring old buildings. Keep up your good work and God Bless.

My husband was stationed in Vienna, he said it was a beautiful city but with all the war the city was not at it’s best. He always wanted to go back and see what it was like now. Sadly he became ill and passed away, he never got to see the city, someday I will go to Vienna for him. Love watching your vlog, the laughing is infectious, thank you all for filling my day.

@@tamaliaalisjahbana9354 Since his death there have been so many ways he has let us know he is with his family and me. He is our personal guardian angel. He smoked a pipe and I have smelled his cherry tobacco all throughout the apartment. So your right, his spirit will be with me in Vienna.
@@barbaramalloy6565 That truly does not surprise me, Barbara. When people we love pass away their spirits often remain around us. I know quite a few people who have had similar experiences to you. One friend's mother loved polka dots and had a favourite purple dress with white polka dots. The day after she passed away a purple butterfly with large white circles on its wings appeared and remained in the house and verandah for several weeks. He phoned me and told me about. "I know it is a message from my mother, that she is with me," he said.
The writer Barbara Cartland and her husband went every year to Paris on the anniversary of their wedding and he bought her every year the same scented carnations. A few days after he died the house was filled with the scent of those carnations although there were none there.
So, go to Vienna when the time is right because I think that is what your husband's spirit is whispering to you and I think you will have a good trip. You are lucky you can still give him something he would like. Although, I believe it will mostly bless you.

Amber comes in SO many different varieties... I used to work in an Amber Specialist shop situated in the pedestrian area of Copenhagen referred to as Strøget! I wore Amber ALL the time while there 😉😉😉😉
I always feel Amber holds a memory from ancient times and is such a beautiful gemstone. I have lots of pieces but one can't have too much, and when it's time I can pass them on to my daughters and then they will have a memory of me too x

Hello just so you know . The little bags of pink pellets are actually laundry detergent. Dump the pellets out of the bag egg in your laundry. One bag per load. And your laundry will smell just like the hand towels.

I have a complete set (not just breakfast) of the Lalande breakfast set. It is British and I bought it at least 50 years ago
...serving pieces as well as cups and saucers, two kinds of soup plates, salad plates, dessert dishes, cups and saucers,
food plates and much more...it is a lovely every-day set and I never tire of the pattern. I was delighted to discover your tea pot in the kitchen which is part of this set.

Such beautiful, generous and loving gifts💗. The broach for Phillip from Latvia is milk Amber, which is opaque and ranges in color from milky light yellow to a darker yellow. There is also green and cherry Amber as well as the translucent yellow. Being Latvian, I had several wonderful pieces of Latvian amber and silver which were unfortunately all stolen a few years ago along with all my other jewelry and several items from my house.. Someone broke into my home when I was in the hospital.

I love Gerald! What a joy he is! Between Philip and Gerald, I can barely stop laughing! Now about the fairy tale toile: isn't there a fairy tale that they made into the Disney movie "Frozen"? If so, the girl on the reindeer is probably Anna (or whatever the equivalent name was in the original). But, I fully agree with the fairy tale diagnosis for that toile! Enjoy your vacation!
