Hope you get your French Document ! Thought it was amusing how you said, "Basically my family made a sport of marrying foreigners." 😂And your continuing by being with Philip! So, basically, you have a lineage like an American! Those of us who have been here several generations really don't know what nationality we are.
When Philip said that the Chateau you were visiting looked like "the backside of Lalande" I lost it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I totally see what he means, but still can't stop laughing! Thank you Philip I needed the laugh!
The downstairs bathroom looks great! Hadn't realize how much it needed the touch up.

Apparently, if a man owed ? money he was put into debtors prison, and my gr grandfather missed it by 'this much' lol Oh well He eventually came to Canada to homestead on free land and made a great success of the little he had. @@ladyangelaIII Not necessarily,! Between the "loi du sang" and "loi du sol", there are in French law several conditions and modalities for the acquisition of French citzenship. But if you are applying on the basis of your French ancestry (loi du sang), oddly enough this can make the process a bit more difficult until you get the requested written proof, depending on whether the ancestor is distant or not. There are sufficient websites from the French government in several languages that explain it all. I married a foreigner and when my children were born, to avoid such difficulties, with the French administration, I immediately had them registered at the French Embassy/Consulate. They have dual citizenship, so do my grandchildren. I am an history freak, never very fond of Bonaparte, but now saying that Bonapartes are not welcome in France is an absurd cliché.

In the US there are wonderful electric heaters that look like wood burning stoves..I own an cream colored one...it is beautiful....they are made by Duraflame they are top heating using infrared (tubes) instead of coils...no heat on the surface or sides...They cost between $270.00 and $290.00 each...and you would love them..You need them everywhere. They are called "Duraflame 3D infrared cream electric fireplace stove with remote control" I keep warm all winter with mine and it looks very attractive with its 3D flame effect...I'm telling you about it because I want you warm and cozy without problems this winter and you can plug them in wherever you have an outlet.

Go to the room you feel him most or associate with him, light a candle and gently ask for his help to look after the chateau. Tell him he is important and is a part of your family now. Try giving him a job to do, like making sure the roof does not leak, or the chapel is protected. I might even send along a suitable dinnerware set if I come across one that is available at a European Union member state shop rather than from the USA, mainly to avoid hefty shipping costs on my end and the payment of excessive French custom duties by Lalande.

So Laugher didn't leave for the other Chateau. Her brother and sister have been in vlogs in their new favorite spot, a big tree. 😘😘😘

Whoopsy! I cut myself off. Anyhoo, the structures he built for the various pieces of the panelling for easy access on the work site demonstrate his commitment to the project at hand. Nothing is off the cuff for him. Amaury is beyond a treasure. I anticipate great vlogs documenting the panelling project. I get the feeling that he has been itching to get started but that he has the professionalism to have the patience for the wood to acclimate to the salon’s environment.

Amaury also did the work in the Marquis's Salon on the new half paneling and learned how to do a hidden door. He set up the frames in the Grand Salon and is ready to work with the antique paneling now. Yeah!!

Caroline Gooder. I couldn’t have said it better myself! That hidden door! But the wonderful thing about Amaury as this carpentier extraordinaire is, that due to his passion for ‘the wood”, in other words, is for the craft and his curiosity involved which drives his desire to learn new techniques which will make him improve as a craftsman. Oh dear. I fear that last sentence may not be grammatically correct but … you get my drift … I hope.

Loved seeing Dan and the boys at the end. His Escape to Rural France - episode 18, (popped up the other day right after seeing his vlog announcing his château purchase ) - when he, Annalise and the boys first saw the château 🤗 Had to have been about two years ago?

Ms. Stephanie and Jared…you might need to spray some fixative to the areas where the pastels has been put so as to preserve it…😊 Also, there’s a gloss and matte finish…depends on what is the finish of the rest of the wallpapers…

Again, a lovely vlog with a variety of activities and LaLanders. But the stories of Percy's criminal ancestors was my favorite.

Every time you drive up to the château I think it's so beautiful. But I can't believe that you have plans to remove the shutters 😱

Well often things weren't that simple, in many cases people did the things to find an Out as such. I have researched and many were in dire straights (differences in status of living between poor and rich), to be transported often was to find a new beginning rather be stuck in the places they were in and the feeling of hopelessness.
