Typically you can' t put newer clusters in older cars because it didn't exist yet. You can sometimes use older clusters in newer cars however. The best way to find out would be to just plug it in and see what works or doesn't work.
Got the new cluster last week but didn't have time to install it until today. Works great and love the info center display - not sure if all the info center data can appear; didn't get a chance to play around with it, but just the regular display itself is tons better than the original! Now I can actually have the outside temperature AND the odometer reading at the same time (yes, I'm excited over trivial things like that). Best of all, no more P0462 code 😀 A few things about the installation - you definitely need a magnet stick thingy or better yet a magnetic screwdriver to deal with the two screws at the top which are deeply recessed like you mentioned. I had a magnetic stick thingy which I used to get them out after unscrewing them and for putting them back eventually had the bright idea to use it to get them in place and tighten them a little then was able to use the screwdriver. But a magnetic screwdriver would have been a bit easier. Also my 2005 Magnum had 3 screws for the first step instead of two, and also involved pulling out the vent and headlight switches to the left; the headlight switches had a plug with a red tab that you need to slide away from the dash piece and the plug comes right out. Lastly, and speaking of coming right out, the 3 plugs in the cluster were a royal pain to remove, especially from the angle I had to work from. I checked another removal vid and saw that you have to push down on the tab but you also have to deftly position your finger to pull the small raised part at the end of the tab to get it to come out, not just push down on the tab and grab at the sides of the plug. But overall very happy and thanks for the new unit and the installation help!

Great thanks for the review and tips!
my speedometer does' t work until a red (!) comes on the dash. then it starts working. any idea what causes that.
Are you able to take out the original one and install the “premium” gauge that came in the higher trims?
Yes, we sell upgrades like that with the driver info center and higher MPH gauge all the time.
Do you recommend to get a new instrument cluster if gas gauge is bad? Switched the pumps and it’s still bad

It's an easy fix. There's a video that explains how to fix it. Just look up bad gas gauge for 2008 charger.
@Tanin Auto Electronix hey what bulb do I need to replace to get my prnd light working again on the 2010 charger
Same issue , did you figure this out ?
@Allen2989LA Same issue did you figure it out? Or do you need to replace cluster
Does a new one have to be programmed?
Our clusters are plug and play. We can't speak for other sources
How much is the repair?
Hello, the repair can be found here: bit.ly/charger_P0462
Thanks
You're welcome!
Can l keep driving the car after removing the cluster while I’m waiting to return?
We don't recommend it. There is no way to record the miles driven when the cluster is taken out of the vehicle.
How much is the repair? Rpm gauge and shift lights dont work
