I put my new cluster in today but it’s not working right. The gauges aren’t moving. It only shows the mileage or open doors stuff like that. But when I rev the car, my speed gauges aren’t moving up or down. They are still on zero, same with my gas gauge. I don’t know why it’s doing that
thanks for the video...very clear...I had my speed and gas gauge go out..the temp and rpm worked fine....so I bought a used one that matched but nothing worked on that one!..I will try another wrecking yard and do the change there...hopefully I can get a good one..thanks again!
My temp gauge is not moving after changing this part. At first i put a 07 Cluster from a a charger in my 05 magnum now I have a 06 cluster and still temp not moving what could I do
@@youngblacc4609 no ... it is what it is.. for legal purposes.. I took a picture of both miles for records.. I sold the car about a year ago and disclosed the real mileage.. no problem since then.. being California.. I didn’t want to risk any problems
I have heard people claim you cannot use a used cluster without getting it programmed to match your car. Have you had any issues after making the swap? Mine failed a couple of weeks ago and i was going to go this route.
The car will work fine without reprogramming the mileage but if it isn't reprogrammed, its the same as rolling back a odometer. This car was been reprogrammed after this video and is showing the correct mileage. The cluster swap is just cheaper to do to get your gauges working again then having it refurbished.
I know a person with the reprogramming tool. My suggestion would be to call the dealer and / or a mopar specialist in your area and see. Tuner shops might also have the tool.
cardesinr I just bought a used 06 charger where the light on the instrument cluster is out. Am I able just replace the bulb or the whole cluster. Everything else works just fine. And what can I use to clean the plastic cover without scratching it. Made that mistake on my dad’s Chevy pickup truck. We both learned our lesson on that one. Oh first time owning a molar vehicle diehard Chevy man but for a $1000 couldn’t pass it up.
I heard that also. I have an 08 SXT and was told that. My fuel gauge is wonky and the lights below the tach do not work. I wonder if later models have some kind of programming block to force to go through the dealer.
The only way they can get you for milage tempering is if you take say a car with 200k and add a cluster with 175 or 150k and try to pass it off with lower miles. You can however add a cluster with 205k or more and you will be fine. You can add more miles to a car and not have to disclose that the car has less miles than the cluster shows. Just not the other way around..
I wish it was that simple. The gauge cluster is powered from a single fuse so none of the gauges would work in that case. Swapping clusters fixed the problem, so the issue was with the stepper motor in the original gauge pack.
nice u got an EVIC upgrade. im sure u know, that theres no way to control it without the steering wheel controls. ive wanted to do this upgrade to my car, but apparently my car wouldnt accept the sales code from the dealer to add the steering control feature (2010 Charger).
You can make that work with this appcar-diagfca.com/en/supported-vehicles/dodge/ It's a $50 app and you need a $30 ALDL adapter. I went from a non EVIC cluster to a EVIC out of a SRT8 in my 2006. I added the steering wheel controls and programmed it with that app and it works 100%
It will probably plug and play but you will need to have the mileage reprogramed to the correct mileage shown the cluster you replaced otherwise you can be subject to causing odometer fraud and the punishment that your local laws deem appropriate.
It might be to late for some BUT do your homework before you buy one of these cars, from what iv learned whilst repairing them you are far better off with a Toyota, this American stuff is going downhill fast as the quality is equal to or worse than South Korean cars.
do you have to reprogram cluster ?

Any updates on the fix
@@ajcollins6417 Yes...I got the second one and it worked fine...
When removing the cluster and putting the new one in how do u reset the mileage to the new one
I know it is a year later but I saw somewhere you need a specific tool for that (dealers have them).
do i have to change the speedometer? 2008 Dodge Charger RT, PRND screen not working 🤔

ok perfect !! i’m in the process of buying a used one too !! i’m going to buy a used one but close to my mileage .. it’s off by 70 miles only
!!
So when you change cluster the correct miles don’t follow?

OK. Mine has 177K on it now. Did you have to bring it to the dealer? If I may ask, how much did that cost? Thanks for your reply.

Is there anyway that this could just be a blown fuse???

My original cluster had the same issue. I found one out of a 2006 300 SRT8, do I need to reprogram or can I just pop it in and go?
