It’s interesting the way James puts the act of being an artist... because a lot of the time I feel the same way,, most people like to take credit for making a piece of art, but art in its purest form... it’s kind of like a connection to something that works through you... I don’t know what exactly is on the other side... but it’s using an artistic medium to connect to some kind of otherworldly conduit. A lot of time I think, It’s not me... maybe subconscious or whatever... but it feels right.
These guys are all class anymore. Refreshing compared to the drunken maniacs of yore. I loved them then too. Ironically, that's was when they made their best music. But I'd rather hang with them today.
I don't think they specifically wanted to fix the problems or do something about it. They tell you what they see, but they don't ask you to, for example, overthrow the government. James said something about his emotions controlling him and perhaps that's how he dealt with life and everything in it, by singing about it so he can get it off his system. I agree with most of his lyrics, but none of them moved me to do anything that states in the description.
Remember when they spoke about how they've evolved and grown as people individually? Yeah. Sort of sums up why they'd have a different vantage on things today. As anyone should with age.

Same goes for Ride the Lighting only 4 songs are longer than 5 mintutes, one of those is The Call of Ktulu 8:53. Compare that to Death Magnetic where every song is 7 minutes except for My Apocalypse. Too many long borring parts that feel like forever in my opinion, I still like the album, but I want shorter faster thrash songs back, like Hit the Lights, Jump in the Fire and Whiplash. Probably why my favorite band is Annihilator and the best guitarist is Jeff Waters hands down.

The Extinct Surgeon They were really something special. I grew up around the Justice and BLack albums. Went to concerts etc. It doesn't get any better than late 80's early 90's Metallica. I appreciate them now for what they are, but the magic isn't what it used to be, that's for sure.
