Memu 80’s James to today’s James are 2 totally different persons though, it’s probably because he has a wife, kids and grandkids and being 30 years older
Ecr Tv Idk man I usually don't give a fuck about the interveiwer especially if they are interviewing James Hetfield. But it just jumped out at me and I felt like I should acknowledge that.
This man has been a father figure for me and I feel like I owe my music "career" to him. Such an inspiration we saw him go from a reckless punk kid to a pissed off man to an almost broken man to the old yet energetic grounded wise man that he is now. My respects for Mr. Hetfield
Cleveland Brown why do people expect these guys to act the same way they did as teenagers? it's called growing up and acting like a man not a punk. try it sometime
He'll always be the best frontman in Metal to me. I've had the honour of meeting him a coupla times; the first time was back in '86 in London, and as much as he's chilled somewhat, he's still the same as he was back then - honest, sincere and just a pleasure to talk to. And he's what keeps Metallica together. They'd be finished without him. Yeah, top guy! 🤘🏻😎
Because he is a quite smart person and true to himself no matter what. Acting and talking like a rock star would've been pretentious for him. Don't forget he grew up as a musician in an era when bands like Poison had this poser attitude and MetallicA has always been on the opposite side of that.
He seems so calm and grounded. When the journalist tells him: "Thanks James it's an honor" he just goes "Ohhh...I appreciate it, thanks" and handshakes. Such a simple word and move, but shows how cool this guy is.
James is the coolest. You'd never know the guy has been playing to sold out stadiums around the world for over 30 years, that his songs have inspired a entire generation of people or that he's likely worth some odd millions of dollars. Great guy.
Lol while James is starting to show his age, when he laughs and smiles, the look on his face is still the same as when he was like 22 or 23. When he does that I just imagine him in 1984, long hair, goofing off. He's still a big kid inside.
torturaxlc Ironic they talk about how sad it is that fame worship warps people's brains wrt Moth and then you comment that he's handsome. Jaymz would laugh his ass off. You wouldn't give him a 2nd look if he was pumping gas.
What an amazing person James is, I've been a fan since 1982 and respect him more and more as the years go by. I think we are so lucky to have the opportunity to witness one of the best bands of all times. I wish him and Metallica nothing but the best. Thank you for the music Metallica!!
Awesome interview. Hetfield is such a cool guy - so calm and humble. Would love to meet him someday, even for just a handshake and a picture. And Josie Dye...Holy hell, I'd like to meet her too!
I have been a Metallica fan sense 1986 Master Of Puppets was introduced to me have all the albums never been angry or a hater and watching James grow and become more thoughtful through the years is great I just love HardWired its old school back to basics
I really wish Metallica would come to San Antonio, Texas. I was looking at the past tour dates, and I couldn't find a single tour stop here. I know for a fact it would sell out. Please Metallica, we would love to have you!
I love watching Metallica interview. Especially James, Kirk, and Robert. They are really humble persons. Even if they don't have any band, I think they are still nice persons to have chat with or sharing story.
+dkyelak "...pretty cool in recent interviews..." You're right. I know that Lars comes over like an ass sometimes and many times people are in the right when they diss him because of that. But in a recent interview here on youtube by 'q on cbc' he was serious and pleasant. Just like James is in this interview. I guess it is true; older and wiser.
"live we're pretty good"...? Understatement of the year! Metallica are phenomenal live. I s**t you not I read a review that said "Metallica 4/5, they are so good live that I expect something extra, and this time it was just "flawless" therefore the 4"... :P love it.
Thank you Josie for doing a unique interview. As a Metallica fan, I am tired of the same 'ole questions these guys get over and over. I hope you get rewarded with more of these types of opportunities in the future.
I loved this interview. I loved her questions, and I love how he is so...Real. I mean I don't know him..But he is not acting like a big diva..He never did. I love this guy
Possibly the hugest inspiration in my life . I feel I know him, but I don’t. If I could say something to him....... it would be thank you! Because he’s real. And genuine, and honest! He’s why I believe in rehab, and heavy Metal. Metallica made my life better.
J Stone I was around, grew up in the 80's/90's. That Hetfield looked cool but he was emotionally unhealthy as hell and a total alcoholic. I kind of prefer the grown up as a human being.
7:05 "You might not like all the songs... but when you see us live there's an energy, it's undeniable." I completely agree, there was a song that they played that to me is one of the lowest tier and I always skip it when it comes on... but when I was there live I was like: What is this magic? Is this how they see the song? Is this the feeling they wanted to illustrate? So then the head banging went on. :D
Metallica is an excellent story. Excited hungry rockin musicians who learned heavy life lessons and translating that into their music while still exploring their career.
Mr. Hetfield is a fucking legend. Influencing other people's lives for the better since '81. So much respect for him.
sanny girl26 in what way?
If you have to ask, you will never know!
James gets cooler and cooler as the years go by.
tommylehman yeah I prefer this James as a person than the James of the 80s and 90s
Memu 80’s James to today’s James are 2 totally different persons though, it’s probably because he has a wife, kids and grandkids and being 30 years older
89 was gud
@@TheRockpelle i had no idea he has grandkids
Absolutely
He's such a big inspiration for me. He's a fucking legend. Incredible that he wrote that many amazing songs.

He's the greatest songwriter ever. Bar none.
Great interviewer. She was very relaxed and asked clear interesting questions and James seemed comfortable too. Best kind of interview right there
She is one of the best I have seen in a while. And just the right amount of star struck without being annoying.
Rylan Sargent who tf cares
Ecr Tv Idk man I usually don't give a fuck about the interveiwer especially if they are interviewing James Hetfield. But it just jumped out at me and I felt like I should acknowledge that.
Give and take, and she asked questions fans would be interested in, not things everyone would find mildly appealing.
Agree!
This man has been a father figure for me and I feel like I owe my music "career" to him. Such an inspiration we saw him go from a reckless punk kid to a pissed off man to an almost broken man to the old yet energetic grounded wise man that he is now. My respects for Mr. Hetfield
Lost in a Memory your full of shit are you famous you sukker

Hetfield 1985: Hey you fuckin fucks!

This guy is so grounded, it's like he doesn't realize he is in the biggest band in the world
Diego Martinez Sanna hes just not a fame spoiled scumbag
Diego Martinez Sanna because of what happened during the black album, they were bigger in their heads then they should of been
rumor has it they all hold stock in the alcohol brands they drank since 83...lol
Getting older will do that to ya
He's not in the biggest band in the world. Iron Maiden are the biggest and best band in the world!!
James seems like he legitimately enjoyed this interview.
Probably becuse the pretty girl. ;)
that and she was charming and didn't ask the same old questions.
Yea def. the interviewer is asking good questions too
sure he's hardrock's ladies' and groupies' guy. Alcoholica !
@@video2000_TV he hasn't been that since 2001
James Hetfield is such a down to earth guy. Love him!
Emanuil Valkov They really have humbled since the 90's
He's a big fan of doing the local, local stuff.
Because he is a quite smart person and true to himself no matter what. Acting and talking like a rock star would've been pretentious for him. Don't forget he grew up as a musician in an era when bands like Poison had this poser attitude and MetallicA has always been on the opposite side of that.

James is the man!! Such an inspiration for music🤘🏽🤘🏽
I saw James in a Staples in San Rafael once buying post-it's. It was cool.
phototristan was he nice when you met him
(x) doubt
Lol while James is starting to show his age, when he laughs and smiles, the look on his face is still the same as when he was like 22 or 23. When he does that I just imagine him in 1984, long hair, goofing off. He's still a big kid inside.
He is like fine wine! Ugh so handsome
torturaxlc Ironic they talk about how sad it is that fame worship warps people's brains wrt Moth and then you comment that he's handsome. Jaymz would laugh his ass off. You wouldn't give him a 2nd look if he was pumping gas.
ROOKTABULA he's handsome mature man. And he's fun to listen to. Rich or not I'd still look at him ... a second look :)
Im 45 and just like this but no one ever says im handsome.
one of the simplest yet best interview I've seen, no hype, just human beings
Hell agreed!

He's much more intelligent sounding than I expected after all these years...
Such a down to earth, humble & amazing human being! Good job done by the interviewer asked some really cool questions & he felt comfortable.
James seems genuinely happy now. Good for him. Glad he got things in order.
I want to meet him and the rest of the band.
Still my favorite band after 25 years of listening to rock music. God bless him and the other guys, including Cliff and Jason of course.
God his voice just resonates in my chest and I have had a crush on him since I was a teenager. I LOVE him!!

This is one cool and smart dude. The girl is awesome too, loved her questions.
What a great interview. She did a great job and James couldn't have been more accommodating. Awesome.

Great interview! Hetfield has always been cool. :-)
I have always admired James a lot he just seems like on of those really bad ass people who are just really cool and he also seems like a gentleman
What a great interview! Seriously, Josie asked perfect questions, and dug deep like most people wouldn't.

My man James. What a journey so far. May he scream "Yeah" for many many years.

If you were around late 80's early 90's, perhaps he would've drunkenly groped you?
Not Sure lol
If I ever meet him I would to tell him how much of a inspiration he is to me. Someday....
