    Fun fact: Alastor was originally a cannibalistic deer in Zoophobia, but later was changed to be a character in Hazbin. I don’t know why, but I theorize it has something to do with Zoophobia’s abandonment.

    • @Scrofar
      @Scrofar Год назад +176

      IIrc (from their wiki pages) Alastor, Angel, Husk, and a few other Hazbin characters were going to be part of this huge demon arc for Zoophobia since Hell was part of the Zoophobia lore, and as we can see now, those characters now became their own thing. It's kind of funny that Hazbin Hotel was kind of the spin-off from Zoophobia, and likewise Helluva Boss is technically a spin-off from Hazbin Hotel.

    I always had my personal throry related to Zoophobia's "Abandonment." that was mainly relating to the stylistic conistency of the world, and the overall popularity of Hazbin/Helluva overtaking the series.
    Working on a simultaneous third project would be borderline impossible to maintain when you're animating, and its hard enough when youre already doing two. Right now, its best she leaves Zoophobia alone, until she's allowed time for the current shows to finish up and release without one affecting the other.

    I think people need to let artists let their old projects die if that’s what the artist wants. It’s hard to go backwards as an artist. I think Zoophobia lives on in Hazbin and Helluva and we should just appreciate that it was building block for what Viv is working on now.

    • @Uragani
      @Uragani Год назад +26

      Seriously, as an artist, my younger projects are for a younger self, they're a sketchbook for my future. I chose to share them with people, but I have no obligation to stay in my very first sandbox forever! If I have bigger and better things, I say thank you to an old project for what it taught me, and move on. Maybe I'd take some chunks with me, but it's really just a testing ground for what I can do, and learning who I am before I lean into something with better foundations. Having people enjoy it is amazing, but extremely unexpected if I'm making something to stretch my wings out and try something new.
      In the end, it's a kid who tried to make something cool with their talent and ideas. They succeeded, and got famous for it! But it's still just a kid who made something cool that they love, but it wasn't supposed to be forever. Baby's First Project never survives impact with an audience for the first time. Having an audience that immediately critiques something as if it was professional quality and done by an adult with a studio is *awful* for a burgeoning artist just testing the waters on their powers for the first time. Especially if folks got pissed about it, and made it feel awful to involve oneself in. Walking away is exactly what she should have done. People poisoned the well by treating a kid so harshly for just playing around. It's like some kid playing on a piano at the mall to see what it sounds like, managing to play something nice, and getting critiqued as if they were an actual composer with training. Gross.
      ... I still wanna go back and redo my old stuff anyways. That'll always haunt me, even if I never do it. That's just an artist's curse of seeing the potential that never was (yet), haha. What else do you think we're fueled by? Pixies?

    People tend to forget that this is the author's work. Sometimes, people grow out of their creations and want to move on. Especially when extreme criticism is thrown at you, and it's definitely has more of an impact when you're young. So people are now just pushing vizzie more, which will definitely cause her to drop the project all together due to stress and overload. I am in several dead fandoms where the work has been inactive for almost 5+ years. It sucks and we all wish the creator would come back, but it's their work, and we need to respect it. Maybe someday it will come back, but don't get your hopes up. Just be happy that you experienced it and just support Vizzie's other projects.

      Based opinion 😩👌 i think that it’s always easy to expect others to provide everlasting dedication to work at their old passion projects… not every creator has the perseverance that their fans expect from them, it’s* normal to leave things behind, even though it’s sad. Call it bittersweet.

    • @makaisenki
      @makaisenki 9 месяцев назад +4

      Just working on 2 shows in and of itself is TREMENDOUS stress, and when you have been doing a project for years, and then you start to spin off stuff into it's own project and THAT blows up... I mean there's a chance that she's still passionate about Zoophilia, but due to Zootopia being a thing, and what she was able to do with Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel she's probably trying not to screw those up.
      I'm not saying that she's still on board with Zoophobia, I'm just saying that if she were to be, or in an alternative reality where she is, it's possible that she's passionate, but has to sit down and say "What exactly is it that I want out of this, and how is it that I'm gonna make this into what it deserves to be."
      Sometimes you have to take steps back, and doing 2 t.v.. shows simultaneously is a lot for any one to do. There are some people that do have the ability to simultaneously craft several stories at the same time, while compartmentalizing it, but this was basically her training ground. She created all of her ideas in this world and made it too big for her to manage. So by spinning off the various concepts, she can still give those creative ideas their own breathing space, but at the same time figure out what she wants Zootopia to be in and of itself and if it connects back to the other series or not.
      This stuff I'm saying could all be incorrect, but I feel like it's another interpretation of events. The other controversies and stuff wouldn't help with any of that. Expecting someone to flesh out 3 shows all at one time is kinda insanity. Especially if you want each of them to be cohesive. I don't think she has the capacity as a writer to do all the projects at once. It's a rare thing some people can do if they actually want to produce quality content and when she was creating the stuff, she really didn't have any chops, hadn't worked anywhere or with anyone.
      This is all speculation on my part. People can only handle so much, and some people can handle more than others, but I think Vivzie is at her limit with 2 shows. Maybe even with 1 show. Sometimes I look at Hazbin and I go "What are we doing with this episode exactly?" and it just feels off and wrong and I think that is part of her reaching her limits.
      Maybe I'm projecting myself onto Vivzie. I think 2 shows at a time is too much for Vivzie. 1.5 might be her limit, and she's doing 2, and if she was given 1,000 bitcoin she'd be trying to do 8. I say 1.5 because if she was creating the groundwork for 1, and then while that was in production created the groundwork for a second show, and then could alternate every so often, it wouldn't be working on 2 projects at a time. It'd be working on 1 really, and one sort of getting fleshed out and then she could focus on that one while the other one is in production and alternate.
      She lacks focus IMO. That's always been her problem. From everything I'm hearing about her in the comments and on this video her problem is that she wants all of her ideas to live all at once, and she doesn't know how to give them breathing room. Her shortcut to this is taking stuff from Zoophobia, spinning them off into their own shows, so that she can give focus to zoophobia.
      But since she's creating both shows at once, she's not able to really create the shows she could be doing if she was doing 1 hard, while preparing the next and alternating them.

    its funny cause i knew Viv from tumblr during the time zoophobia was being released though it frustrates me cause I enjoyed her work for what it was and was just happy to see her getting something rolling. I understand as a fellow artist, sometimes we just lose heart for projects even if we have fond memories of them. and that's totally okay. She's doing what she can and mistakes happen. There's also the issue of she clearly has a dark sense of humor which can lead to others finding quick reason to jump at being angry with her. Hell I'm surprised Helluva gets away with some of the shit it does ngl. Then again maybe I'm too understanding cause she's too relatable for me who knows.

    I wasn't into Zoophobia and found Viv through Hazbin when the pilot launched and I wasn't that interested in her original works. I tried reading Zoophibia but it bored me so I gave up until around a year ago I found comic dubs of it and watched them. The story is really good and the visuals are amazing, it had so much potential and I wish she would've kept working on it even though the Hazbin plot got turned into a whole new project. She could've even kept the hell plot in Zoophobia and have it be a different universe type of thing. I can understand why she cancelled it though because it was her first ever project and obviously like you said, she was inexperienced back then. Especially with all the criticism she got from it, it's probably put a bad taste in her mouth and honestly Zoophobia is probably connected to bad memories for her. I don't think we're ever going to see Zoophobia again because once she made Hazbin and saw the potential in that, she decided it was a better investment than Zoophobia.

The fandom watched the entire process of that for Viv, and when she started to shift to something she enjoyed more people got salty that the thing they liked was not in her interest anymore. And now that Hazbin/Helluva is succeeding, the hatred for the Zoophobia content in her feed has probably tainted it for her. Nobody likes working on something that feels tainted in their hearts, and honestly, I don't think there will be a satisfying way to end ZP at this point.

    I think they didn't abandon it, it was just a short that they came up with at some point when they were developing characters, they've been busy with helluva boss for a long time and with happy hotel for more, if they plan to follow it they have it as a future project or maybe as a project that they already have polished and it's a surprise

    When i watched the short film, i had NO idea this had a story with comics, even being part of Hazbin oriogionally. I loved the short, it was intentionally cheezy and had good poppy songs. But i tottaly get that people were probably expecting somethjng less for kids and more dark and Hazbin/helluva like. I liked it being unaware of the orional premises, i may not of if i was aware of its past storys and dark plots/being aware this was a different tone and plot.

    I understand where she's coming from. She improved herself and her arts throughout these years. So when she looked back and saw so many flaws in her designs while also seeing how far she has come, she cannot helped but feeling like her first work is sort of a failure from certain perspective. Sure, it was a big hit and the people liked it and they still do but in her eyes, it was her flawed starting point.

    The problem is, she can only work on so many shows at once. And currently has TWO shows in the works. And there is a reason why we keep getting HELLUVA BOSS episodes but Hazbin hotel has been on hold for a while. There is no way Zoophobia is getting done while she’s got either projects going. We may see it return after she’s finished Helluva boss and has more time to work on other things. But we probably won’t see a show or more comics coming out until Hazbin Hotel is fully finished.

    Zoophobia was my favorite comic when I was younger, used to read it each week with my friends and discuss the updates together. I was so sad when it stopped, I still checked back years later in case there was an update or if the reboot finally came out. I like Helluva Boss, not so much Hazbin Hotel (fandom makes me uncomfortable due to the large number of children), but Zoophobia was always my favorite. I really should spend an afternoon rereading it one of these days, I miss Addison and Mackenzie so much :]

I don't want to call it a mess or smth, it gathers many good ideas and designs. Imho I think when Vivzie's ready, she should remake Zoophobia, reconsidering every detail about it, to create smth new and formalized. Years and years of work on Helluva/Hazbin universe broght she incredible experience, so I can't imagine what todays' Viv cable of, but it's definetely different from her student self.

    I think it’s more of a, she have too many projects currently running all at once right now to focus on another one on top of it, and people are impatient and can’t handle that. Besides she did say that she lost a sort of connection to it than she once had, and that’s completely fine. People have too many demands for viv to just create 100’s of shows and episodes with a snap of a finger. It’s ridiculous. Be patient and support her if you genuinely care.
    I used to support an artist that created a specific comic, but due to a death in their family, the creator couldn’t handle going back to it with the same mindset they once created the comic with, and that they unfortunately had to scrap it. They went on to create something else entirely. Everyone understood the situation and just wanted to support to creator. And I genuinely wish people were more open and understanding with viv about her situation too even tho it’s a bit different. It’s always sad to see a comic or show we used to love, be scrapped or abandoned, but we need to stop being selfish and understand the creator is also human, and that not everything will go the way we want it to. Stuff happens. Or they end up with different priorities in life or to do other work.

  • @glasperle77

    I don't even know why these are needed to be discussed in videos. It's simple, a person made a comic. They lost inspiration and moved to another project. Simple as that. I also find it always hilarios that people point at her early "cringy" nsfw topics while they hype people in hazbin and helluva who do one crime after another, mass murder, killing kids etc. it's just a bunch of hypocrites xD
    My issue is that people treat Viv in a bad light as if she would be the "outstanding artist who does it all for the first time in history" while ALL other artists are like this. Growing up through the decades almost all artists had cringy art back then on deviantart where ages never mattered, many big comics that got super popular (I immidiately think of TC-96 or the Off White comic) got abandoned with old projects to either focus on another fandom or move on to real life etc. It's nothing new and nothing worth discussing.

    As an artist and writer who made several ideas and comics, I can see why she "abandoned" zoophobia. I had a comic series I worked on ever since I was 12 and I'm an adult now, only stopped working on it about 2 years ago. Constantly rebooting and reworking ideas, polishing everything to perfection. I never grew an audience like vizie did, but I had a little bit of the same experience. You get tired of work on one idea for so long, so I "abandoned" my main idea to work on other ideas. I plan to go back to it one day, but that won't be for a while until I'm done with my other fresh ideas.

    I followed Vivz since she was in high school, I remember her early, early, EARLY short comics of the main Zoophobia cast before they were an actual webcomic. Mostly one with Spam in school... 100%, Zoophobia was what happens when someone takes all their one-off DeviantART characters they made on a whim as a kid/teen and tries to figure out a logical way to incorproate them into one story.. when really none of them fit together, they were just designed because the kid/teen thought it was cool or fun to draw. She's always had such unique designs, I'm glad as a more experienced creator she's been able to make something more cohesive of the stories she's had in her head :^)

Ngl, I'd get into Zoophobia too if it eventually gets revived.
